Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Dad!" Cadet Zion called jumping up and down at the entrance of HQ. This wasn't like him at all, usually he wasn't disrespectfully loud or would even consider bothering the older cats, but whatever got him riled up he clearly couldn't even wait a moment to share it with his dad. Then again he was training to be a scout, he wasn't like Shae who had to grow up quicker for a big position or obedient and well mannered like Rose and Opal were demanded of from being mercenaries. After all Scouts had the noble rank of providing food for the clan and while mercenary's would always be regarded highly especially in times such as these, in times of less activity it often seemed to be the scouts who got credited for doing the most work.
When he saw his dad Cadet Zion moved over from the entrance and dragged out a giant hawk he had hunted down, "Okay okay, I can't take full credit, the guy got in a fight with an owl over territory and I took advantage that he was already wounded, but this beauty is HUGE! It's called a ferruginous hawk, you can tell by its longer wings that it's not a red tailed hawk. I knew one of these guys were gonna come to our territory, during mating seasons they come to swamp lands and since our neighbors are pretty swampy I knew to keep a look out."
For probably a moon his peers had probably begun to doubt he'd make a good hunter, sometimes he would yell at cats for catching the weak young animals instead of the older ones. Other times he'd tell them that they should take the opportunity to observe the animal instead of hunting them. He treated hunting like a mercenaries treated war, with strategy. By observing the animals he was able to understand their diet and rituals to the point that he could now calculate their habits in order to better hunt them.
"Uh, actually," Cadet Zion said looking a way from the herb and at his dad, "I kind of wanted to talk to you privately. You know about," He lowered his voice, "Guy stuff and having feelings and... Urges."
Mars lifted his head, a bit shocked to hear Zion shouting for him at the entrance to HQ. While he knew he should normally say something to any cadet shouting out like this, curiosity got the better of him since he knew his son normally wasn't one to act so disrespectful. He excused himself from the group he had been speaking to and began to make his way over to his son, noting the large hawk that he had with him. Before he could comment however, Zion was telling him more on how he had caught it. It was impressive actually. Not many thought far enough ahead to observe the habits and patterns and behaviors of prey. "That was clever of you. Perhaps you should take your hawk to the Veterans. I'm sure they would enjoy something of that size.
Of course he was soon to find out that the hawk was not the real reason his son had come to see him. Curiosity shone in his eyes as he glanced back at the hawk. "Of course, but first we should see to this. It would be a waste to leave it laying here now wouldn't it?" Even if it was greenleaf still, he knew that prey should never be wasted, especially since there was no telling what might happen in the moons to come.
(because I'm lame and my response is lame I apologize cx)
"Okay and then maybe after we talk I can check if they need some new nesting materials before it gets too late?" Cadet Zion suggested, probably the only cadet that actively looked to do chores. It wasn't as though he liked doing them, but he did like being a public servant to his community. When he was a tyke he thought all his dad did was get what he wanted, but now that he was able to leave Post Kilo he saw that his dad gave everything he had into him to the cats in the Regime. He aspired to be selfless like him and help out where he could. Maybe if he worked hard on it he'd help so much he'd someday be commander too and Rose and Opal could be his sentinels and chop evil cats in half with their bare paws, but that was just a hopeful future.
"As long as they aren't asleep. If you wake them up just to check their bedding, you are the one that will have to listen to their lecture." He grinned at Zion as he said this. Of course he would probably rescue him after a bit and he doubted any of the current veterans would be too hard on him anyway, but still. "You know, Veteran Ren was actually the commander when I was a tyke." It was something he wouldn't forget since Ren was the one that had given him a chance when everyone else had been ready to give up on him. He had a lot of respect for him even now. He looked ahead once more. He was still curious about what Zion wanted to talk to him about but he guessed he would find out soon enough.
