The moon had drawn itself into the sky, a cool crisp breeze swirling through the NightClan camp and in the shadows stood a small tabby pelted she-cat. Wolfkit had been unable to sleep the noises of the night life drawing her curious mind out of the warm milk scented den in which she spent most of her days, tonight though her paws were leading her out into the unknown. The she-cat had not woken any of the others, her mind focused on where she was going as she slipped out of the camp and into the mystery of her homes territory. "Wow." The amazement in her whispered voice was reflected in her eyes as the moons light glittered in their depths.
One of Cinderkit's deep, golden eyes flashed open as she watched her sister slip out of the nursery and into the night. Curiosity swept over her and she stood, stretching her extra-small frame, and skipped out behind her. She bent low in the shadows, her dark gray pelt making her blend effortlessly as she watched Wolfkit leave camp entirely. Cinderkit's eyes widened in surprise, but nevertheless she followed. When she stepped out of the entrance and into the forest, her breath was swept away at the sheer size of it. She saw Wolfkit moving deep in and only then did Cinderkit dare to whisper: "Hey, wait for me!" She bound after her, tiny paws silent on the soft pines that littered the ground.

Wolf kit froze for moment before it registered whose voice it was that spoke up, turning toward her sister she smiled shyly. "Cinderkit! You wont tell on me will you?" She didn't want to get in trouble, at least not yet anyway. She wanted to explore and something was pulling her into the forest.
"Of course not," Cinderkit frowned, waving her short tail in the air. It would be soon that they would be made apprentices, and she wasn't going to ruin that chance for either one of them. "If I told on you, I'd just be telling on myself," she pointed out as she caught up with her, slowing to a trot. "I want to come with you. We have to be careful though, I heard some of the warriors talking about the night patrol that they were having."
"Cinderkit is right you know" came a quiet voice from someone hidden in the shadows. The two kits had been caught before their journey had really begun, as the orange pelted apprentice emerged from where he had been watching the young kits.
"There will be lot of patrols tonight, I was on my way to meet up with my mentor when I heard your voices" a little chuckle escaped his lips. He could remember when he and his siblings had tried to make their own escape out of camp. He hadn't realized how dangerous it was at the time, as he doubted these cats did either "and if I was able to find you, you'll never make it past the warriors"

Wolfkit smiled at her sister happy to have her there, she hadn't realized before how scary it was out here at night and even now she still had no clue what dangers could appear. The sudden voice from the shadows jolted her from her thoughts and she turned toward it to see Blazepaw. She looked at him with round pleading eyes, they had been caught but at least it was Blazepaw who had come across them first instead of one of the warriors. "It's my fault! Don't let Cinderkit get in trouble please!" She didn't want to risk her sister becoming an apprentice because she decided to be reckless, even if it meant she would be held back.
"Look I get it, me and my siblings did the same thing when we were younger" a little purr rumbled in his throat as he lowered his head and nudged the little kit comfortingly. He had apparently frightened them, which hadn't been his intention.
"I'm not going to tell anyone, but I do have to escort you both back to camp. You shouldn't be out here by yourselves. There are a lot more dangerous things out here than me" he let his tail tap each of them before turning back towards camp "next time just ask first. I'm sure one of the warriors would be glad to take you on a little outing"
Cinderkit jumped in surprise, her gray fur standing at her scruff. She deflated as Blazepaw said that he was taking them back to camp, but as she walked past Wolfkit with a huff, she barely tapped her tail on her sister's side with a silent promise to sneak out as soon as Blazepaw went out into the forest to join the patrol with his mentor. "Fine," she sighed, her ears back. "I don't know why we thought we could get away with it. No one ever does, right?"

Wolfkit put on a sulky face and turned with Cinderkit to follow the apprentice back to camp, her sisters light touch telling her all she needed about how their night would go after this. They would be more careful next time, go out a different way. "I can't wait to be an apprentice." She mumbled under her breath.
"No, kits never get very far and those that do generally never return" he added sternly. He could tell this wasn't the last time that they would try sneaking out out of camp, so he debated on talking to their mother. However perhaps a little scare was all they needed
"When I was younger, me and my siblings decided to sneak out of camp. We thought that we were very clever in being able to trick the warriors, and avoid getting caught. However, that didn't last long. We hadn't even been able to make until nightfall when we were attack. A dog came out of no where, and if it hadn't been for Burningstar hearing our screams we would have been killed" he flicked his tail forward to them where it had a kind "It almost took my tail, and it would have been a lot worse had the clan not been out searching for us. These rules are in place to protect you, and your clan. Burningstar could have easily lost a life trying to save us that night"
Cinderkit's ears went back against her head as she listened to Blazepaw's story, and, for only a moment, she doubted whether or not they should try to sneak back out after Blazepaw left them. She, of course, didn't want to put anyone in danger, but she was certain that she and Wolfkit would not get into any trouble or danger. She remembered the smell of both fox and dog coming off the pelts of warriors when they were a problem in the territory, and she was confident she could outwit one.
