Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
If one was just to walk upon the scene, the deputy standing at the very edge of the waterfall, they would probably be very concerned at his intentions. Perhaps there was some merit to this concern, it was getting to be the time of year that made him incredibly sad, the time of year when Agora first got sick. Some might have noticed that his eyes seemed to drift a little bit in conversation, and his voice would occassionally trail as he got lost in his head. It only happened for moments at a time. Then, he was back to being his wide-smiling, goofy laughing self. Still, if one payed close attention to him, perhaps they would realize that something was wrong. After realizing something was wrong, it might be even more concerning that he stood, teetering off the edge.
Those who knew him knew he was not suicidal, though. He lost time to the battle in his mind more often than he'd like to admit, yes, but that did not mean he was ready to abruptly quit this existence. He had survived more than just a little pang of loneliness before. He'd survive it again.
If he wasn't prepared to leap to his death, though, what was Odysseyfright doing?
He let out a soft hum as he looked off of the edge. This was no longer the first time that he did it, sent himself flying off the waterfall's edge. He had done it before; cliff jumping was a dangerous hobby, but it led to a thrill that he'd never been able to recreate. When he had first explained his desire to jump to Doestar, he had said something about desiring to feel like he was flying. To feel his body suspended in the air. He thought he would have been able to simply cross the activity off of his bucket list and move on. However, the deputy had learned that it didn't work like that. He had learned what it felt like to feel alive, feel adreneline course through his veins, feel what it felt to be afraid for his life, and now he craved it. He craved it like an addict, and only so many cats were willing to jump off high things with him.
So, it may not have been his first time jumping, but it was his first time jumping alone. He had previously employed the buddy system, because that sounded like a smarter thing to do. However, it was the middle of the night-insomnia often crawled at the tom's chest- and he doubted anyone would take very kindly to him asking if they'd like to throw themselves off of the waterfall with him. So, there he was. Preparing to make his first dive into the water. The crickets that hummed and the stars that glittered above him only created even more of an ambiance.
Now, if only he could get up the nerve... He walked to the very edge, before taking a few steps back. Despite his overwhelming courage, the very courage that managed to get him into more trouble than perhaps he was worth, there was a part of him that was too afraid to just jump. Maybe he needed a running start... He was about to prepare for one, when he heard a voice...

A noise awakened Ravenmask and he saw it was the new deputy leaving the warriors den. He normally wouldn't have thought much of it figuring he was just going to the dirt place but something about his leaving didn't seem right. Now that he's a member of the Redguard he should take things more seriously than before. Silently he rose from his nest and slipped out of the den. It was only a matter of seconds before he spotted Odysseyfright leaving the camp through the main entrance. This is odd, he thought as he started to follow him, making sure he kept to the darkest shadows.
It was arduous work but he managed to stay undetected all the way to the waterfalls. He was certain now the deputy was up to no good, probability meeting some rogue or a cat from another clan. He had plenty of time to work through several different scenarios in his head as he tracked the other tom. But none of those ideas even came close to what he saw. Odysseyfright is going to commit suicide! He had to do something fast to stop him! "Hey!" the black and gray tom called out urgently. "Don't do it! What ever your problem is, it's not worth ending your life!"
He heard the voice, and he took one last step back away from the edge. There was a strange look in his eye, before the tom let out a long laugh. Of course, in his head, he didn't look as suspicious as he probably would to any normal cat who had any semblance of normalcy. He knew what he was doing; going for a swim, but a swim with an intense start. He turned his head towards Ravenmask, raising an eyebrow. Okay, he supposed he could see the misconception and how it sprung if he tried real hard, but he'd have to try real hard.
"End my life?" he chuckled, shaking his head. "No, Mr. Ravenmask, you've got it all wrong." His half-smile widened to a full grin. "I'm not about to kill myself, silly!" He looked back over to the water. It would feel so nice, but he'd probably have to wait at least a bit to enjoy it. "It's called cliff-diving. It's [/I]fun[/I]," he explained. He'd explained the concept to Doestar not too long ago. "It feels like flying. It's incredible!"

Ravenmask looked incredulously at Odysseyfright. "You've got to be joking!" he meowed. "No cat in their right mind would jump from such a height for fun." He came forward as he was speaking and looked down at the dizzying distance to the surface of the small pool at the bottom. "No way could a cat survive a fall from here. They'd break their neck!" He backed away from the edge just in case he might accidentally slip and precipitate such a fall.
