Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Coralreef had caught a fish as long as her foreleg and she was ecstatic about it. It was heavy and dragged on the ground awkwardly between her paws, and she stumbled as she tried to pull it back to camp, but it would feed them well tonight. She dragged it carefully up the first couple rocks around the waterfall, eager to reach camp, and picked up the pace. She was doing well leaping from rock to rock when the tail of the fish caught between two rocks. She pitched forward and then snapped back with a yelp, the fish remaining firmly lodged in place while her balance was thrown off. Squealing, she fell back over the rocks and hit the ground below hard.
A charcoal gray loner was wondering Waterclan territory without realizing he had crossed the border to a clan. He was unaware of being so close to the camp but was drawn by the beauty of the waterfall and river. However, during his wondering, he saw Coralreef slip and fall while jumping from rock to rock. His heart leaped when he watched her tumble down, fear overwhelming him as he thought of the worst situation. The tom rushed over to her, careful not to lose his footing on the rocks. He landed beside her and examined her, "u-umm, miss? Are you alright?" He wasn't sure what to do and began to panic. If she answered him, at least he would know she was conscious.
Coralreef groaned as she slowly opened her eyes. That hurt. Her whole body ached dully from the impact and she considered laying here a few minutes more, but as the image swam in front of her eyes she noticed something strange. Who was this cat? She sniffed a few times until she was certain she didn't know him, and then leaped to her paws. "Intruder, sto-!" she started to cry, but as she set weight on her back leg it collapsed beneath her with a terrible burst of pain, followed by agony along her ribs as well.
"Uhhh," she moaned, feeling sick. Then, weakly: "shoo... trespasser... or i'll... get you!"
If this wasnt a serious situation, the tom may have been amused but he was concerned. "Uh...I-I'm here to help. Um...what should I do?" He had been a loner but never really learned how to help cats in an emergency.
h"Oh. Really?" She brightened considerably. "I... guess I won't have to c... chase you off, then. But I would've," she warned. Her paws flexed like she was going to attack him just to prove it, but she was smiling - strained from pain, but happy, teasing. "I need to get back to the, uh... camp. Up there." She tilted her head up toward the track by the waterfall and frowned. It looked far too dangerous for her to climb in this state.
"Or... maybe I'll just... stay down here a few days."
He took a step back when she flexed her claws but relaxed with a weak smile when he noticed that she was only teasing. "Uh...do-do you have any family around that could help you? Or get you somewhere safe?" His gaze followed the path up to the waterfall, wondering if there were more cats up there and maybe they could help. She did say "camp", after all. Did that mean there was more cats?
“Yeah, back at camp. My father and his siblings, mostly.” She paused. The camp’s location was supposed to be secret, but witt the clans interacting so much it was barely secret now, and this was just one cat. He seemed nice, anyway. “We live up behind the waterfall.”
Coralreef hesitated. "They might get upset if they see you," she admitted with a grimace, "they're like that. But... I probably can't make it there myself... so if you really want to.."
He began to panic again. What if they attacked him? He had come across some vicious cats in his travels. "Maybe you can lean on me and I can help you get up there?"
Coralreef hesitated. She was in a lot of pain and nervous after falling down the first time, but she couldn't ask this stranger to go alone for her. Slowly she nodded, propping herself up and unsteadily rising to all four paws. "Okay," the blue warrior agreed, mossy eyes tightening in pain, "let's do it."
“I’ll be fine,” she promised, hoping it was true. She was an optimist. She leaned on him for support, tentatively at first— he was a stranger. “Is this okay?”
"Um, yes. Yes, it's okay" he answered her, feeling his ears getting a little warm with embarrassment. He slowly helped her along the path, stopping every few moments to give her a rest. He helped her over and around the boulders, finding easier paths for her to take. After what seemed like hours, they finally reached the camp. An avalanche of smells hit his nose, nearly causing him to gag. He had seen many cat groups but never one so large. He could feel all eyes staring at him, some hostile, some curious, and some concerned, especially when they noticed Coralreef injured. Hopefully they didn't think he was the one to harm her. "Um, she needs helps. She's been injured." He called out to the gathering cats.
