Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
His curse was lifted, and he was free— and for the first time in a long while, he was relaxed. The black-and-white tom sprawled in the branches overlooking the apple trees, enjoying the sweet scent in the air and the calm wind brushing through his fur. His paranoia was fading slowly every day as he reminded himself every cat was not out to get him, and though he was still a little nervous about reaching out to cats he used to know, at least he was making progress.
Deal yawned and stretched, the tip of the branch dipping slightly below him and shaking off an apple. He swiped reflexively to catch it, but it bounced off his paw and fell toward the ground.
By all rights, he should have attacked Deal on sight. Not only because Darkcomplex was a SunClan warrior, but because the tom was in love with the black and white cat's mate, who, for a short while, had been his own mate, all due to Foxstar. That was, honestly, one of the few things he could probably thank the High Priestess for, bringing Glowstar into his life. Not that he would ever admit his feelings, either to Glowstar or anyone really. That would only hurt her, to know someone had feelings she didn't share, though perhaps she already suspected. Since Deal had become himself again, the long haired tom had been avoiding him, and distancing himself from Glowstar some. They deserved time to themselves, and it would only pain him to watch them happy together.
But, at some point, simple avoidance wasn't possible. Darkcomplex had kits with the DayClan leader. Well, Shule and Sean's kits weren't his, and the kit they actually did have was locked securely away supposedly for the safety of everyone, but the point stood. The kits Foxstar had led him and Strikhedoniadalisay to believe were their own, were still their kits, in the end. And Deal was now a part of their lives as well. It simply wouldn't do for him to ignore everything.
"Did you hear what happened to Daylight?" The large tom questioned, tilting his head up to look at Deal with a half frown, but no hostility. He wasn't exactly to the point of necessarily feeling comfortable making friends with this cat as of yet, but he did deserve to know what had happened to the she-cat he'd helped try to kill Foxstar. The rumors had probably spread of Asphodel's death, but with her MoonClan name, it was hard to unravel it all and make it coherent. The two hadn't exactly been friends, far from it, but there was some information he would likely want to know, if he didn't already.
Deal looked up to see Darkcomplex and watched him draw nearer warily. He was used to having some competition, he’d learned to try and hide his jealousy, and for once it was mostly working; it probably helped that he had won the leader over already. She loved him, not someone else. But they didn’t mean the SunClan cat would give up so easily and he didn’t trust him to do so either.
“No,” he meowed cautiously, his blood running cold at the question. What had happened to his old enemy?
Darkcomplex didn't feel like he was giving up. Rather, he had fallen for the chaotic leader in such a way that her happiness came before his own, even if that happiness was with someone else other than he.
The tom found his way onto a branch roughly beside Deal in the same tree, his gaze turning, for a moment, towards the MoonClan border before he looked back and began to speak. "Foxstar killed her. Or more accurately, my dear Priestess brutally slaughtered her mere hours after she gave birth to a litter of kits. When you fled after trying to assassinate the Priestess, Daylight fled to MoonClan with that kit of Foxstar's she stole, and renamed herself Asphodel. Well, after DayClan and SpringClan were freed from SunClan control, Foxstar went for MoonClan as a sort of 'apology' gift to them to help out with the harsh winters they have."
He leaned back, closing his eyes as he remembered the events that had transpired. "Well, Foxstar had assumed she was there, given the fact that she'd gotten her kit back a while prior, when that tiny child was nearly a warrior. Still, when SunClan came, Daylight refused to just stand by and let MoonClan surrender. She never was the sort to keep quiet, so I'm told. She talked about Foxstar's past to the MoonClan cats, about her betraying SunClan with the Shadow Stalkers, how Foxstar had convinced you to attack her and you'd gotten exiled as a result. Do you remember how Foxstar rejoined the clan? It was a dog attack wasn't it, that stole one of the then SunClan leader's lives. Daylight alleged it was Foxstar's doing, that the timing was too convenient for coincidence. Suggested that all the highly ranked cats' disappearances were her doing to rise from deputy to leader faster."
His eyes opened to look at Deal directly for this next part, one that would likely only confirm some fears he'd had. "You remember that Crowlight died, right? And Crowluster? Well, there was also a third Daylight didn't know about Crowluminescence. She also accused Foxstar of their murders. She was the main suspect in Crowlight's death, and Crowluster conveniently died the night of Foxstar's lives ceremony. Both of them were your children. I don't know how Crowluminescence's fits, but I'm certain Daylight would have tied in her death to Foxstar as well. She warned MoonClan of the kind of cat Foxstar was, only to be killed as an example in order to gain MoonClan's compliance. Though, I think she understood she was dead the moment she dared to speak up at all."
The moment he heard the question he had suspected she must have died -- and it wasn't hard to figure out it was probably at Foxstar's paws. Even without knowing the full extent of the murders she had committed he knew she was capable of it and that her attempted assassination had probably pushed her over the edge. Deal was sorry to see her die before she finished what she had started, but he felt a little relieved too. He didn't want her coming after him again, though it felt horrible to admit.
But killing her right after she gave birth? She didn't deserve that, and he kits didn't either. His gut churned at the story. He had guessed she had something to do with her fast rise through the SunClan ranks but he couldn't believe she had staged the attack on Drizzlestar. He didn't want to believe it, there was no way it was possible, she had no reason; he wasn't even mates with Drizzlestar yet, not quite, so surely that was not the reason? He shook his head slightly; he didn't understand her still. Even after all she tried to explain to him before his death, none of it made proper sense.
"Why would she do that?" Deal croaked, the joy and the wind knocked out of him in a single blow. His sweet little daughter, she'd always done her best and never thought it was enough, she'd already been through much: watched her sister die because of him, her other sister die in childbirth, her brother fade away, and now to think she had not only been murdered, but by Foxstar, because of him, always because of him. He squeezed his dark eyes shut and shook his head. "Why would she kill her own son?" Crowluster had been hers, he'd been theirs, surely she wouldn't go that far -- but why wouldn't she? What had she ever done to tell him she would stop at her own kin?
He pressed his forehead to the branch, miserable. He didn't know a Crowluminescence, had never heard the name, and he hated to think a complete stranger had been caught up in this.

"I'm told he was always obsessed with finding Crowlight's killer. He was killed in the same way as Crowlight. And Crowluminescence was killed in the wake of Wormwood, Mountainsound's son's death, as he'd tried to copy the murders of Crowlight and Crowluster. All three were killed in the same way. Foxstar or not, it doesn't take a genius to understand that it was all the same cat." He was treading into dangerous territory now, basically treason if Littlebird or another SunClan cat overheard. To suggest their priestess had anything to do with the deaths, when she had claimed they'd died due to being cursed by the names given to them. "I'd guess he found the killer, and was killed for it. Though Daylight hadn't been part of the clan in a long time since, she seemed to think it was Foxstar's fault. Most of SunClan think she was just insane. They brush it off and label her a traitor without a second thought. But since everything with my kits has come to light, I can never be so sure."
Even he had heard of Wormwood's crimes, though he had been prison at the time. A few passing hunters had admitting grudging respect for the number of kills his adoptive brother had stolen, though they mostly just seemed amused. They had all been like that, the League's hunters; none of them took death seriously, not even their leader, and had looked at him strangely when he confessed his guilt about the things he'd done. Deal couldn't help being upset that he always got blamed for everything when Foxstar was honored and ran around murdering cats. Perhaps he had caused great misery but surely he was not worse than her.
