With greenleaf slowly fading into leaf-fall, Sablekit was introduced to a new season that she wasn't sure she liked. The sun she loved to lay under and let warm her ebony pelt was beginning to set earlier and rise later. The warm breeze that breathed life into the frigid camp was settling and replaced with a chill that settled into her bones despite her long fur. Sablekit poked her head out of the nursery, eyes slightly tilted in ire. "Why is it getting less hot?" she asked the world plaintively, not truly expecting an answer.

Maplekit glanced up wearily from the comfort of Echodrop's nest. Many of her siblings still snoozing in the warm moss. "Do you think the sun is dying?" she asked. With recent events in the clan she had been learning to meaning of death a lot sooner than perhaps a kit should. She wiggled out form the confined of her other siblings bodies and hopped over the edge of the nest to join Sablekit at the entrance and peered out beside her. She released a little shiver. "Wow you're right it is colder isn't it?"

"Maybe," replied Sablekit, tilting her head thoughtfully at the glowing orb in the sky. "But it looks really bright for something dead. Dead things don't look like that, do they?" Like her sibling, she too had learned early of death but still had a child's understanding of it. "Maybe it's just sick. Do you think the medicine cat can fix it?" She looked concerned but not overly so. "Maybe it's just tired instead. I don't know. Do you think Mama or Papa will know?"

Maplekit thumped her brown tail on the nursery floor. "I mean we can ask them. Do you know where they are? We could see if Mistyveil is in her den..." She took a little step outside of the nursery and batted at a limp leaf. "Why are the leaves all brown and crusty?"
Mysterykit looked over at the two kits, children of the leader and his mate. She tilted her head, "Mother says it's leaffall." She said matter of factly. Crimsonrose didn't baby Mysterykit. She'd told Mysterykit that back in the league she'd be already beginning and expected to have an understanding of combat at her age. While she wouldn't have been seeing battle, her education would begin. Despite them not living in the league, Crimsonrose saw no reason to approach Mysterykit's learning any differently.
Thus Mysterykit was given knowledge of a great deal of things from her mother... When she came by, as Mysterykit was often cared for by other queens to allow Crimsonrose to continue her duties as the shard. Mother had called this time leaffall after saying that was the term.
Which made sense as the leaves were falling and were brown and crunchy.
