Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It was unusual to find Silverstreak out at a time like this; the sky was dark and the wind howled, calling all cats to return to their dens. But strangely, he could not bring himself to do the same. He stood outside of the camp, eyes and ears open to the different sights and smells that remained. The tension was palpable, and eventually, the itch in his pelt finally drove him to head off, eager to find what was calling to him.
Entering the forest, the ground satisfyingly cool, fallen leaves littered the ground. The full moon illuminated his path, almost as if he was being led somewhere. Out of the corner of his eyes, he would see bright flashes, but he turned to look at it, nothing was there. On most nights, the night creatures would be stirring but not tonight. He wanted to stop out of curiosity of what was going on but his paws seemed to have a mind of their own as they carried him forward. Here and there, he would see those strange flashes of white light in his peripherals. My mind must be playing tricks on me, he thought. But something deep inside of him told it wasnt some hallucination. Something aaas there, he just wasn't allowed to see it just yet. He continued on until he was brought to the base of the Crescent Stone. He looked around, confused. Why am I here?
Silverstreak's paws were led with a gentle push, forced to head towards this particular place in such a way as to be nearly indistinguishable from one's own intention. Creatures hid from the shaded figure who wandered in and out of the trees, ever in the peripherals, but never revealed as the tom was guided to the Crescent Stone.
The stone itself was splashed in a glowing moonlight, and yet, it was all wrong. The light from the full moon itself paled in comparison to that which the tom could see, the light that prompted him to look around and realize the glow came from within himself. Once this realization had happened, and Silverstreak's head had been tilted up once more against his own control, he came face to face with a cat whose light matched his own, bathing the stone and it's surroundings in a brightness that only the two of them could ever see.
He was pure white, sleek and soft, larger than a normal cat, though not by so much as to be considered a massive beast. Silvery-gray whispered across the tips of the fur, weaving it's way in and out among the moonlight that emanated from him, turning every strand of hair just a slight way into almost unnatural brightness.
"Have you not realized it yet?" The deity's voice was as soft as the shadows and as strong as the gale whose sound could not compare to the words being spoken, seeming to echo and come from the spotted silver tom's own mind rather than the being that stood in front of him. "Have you not realized why you were brought here?" There was no anger or disappointment to his voice, it was calm and thoughtful, gentle in such a way as to make one feel comfortable, yet there was an underlying power to it, energy that thrummed through the earth and could not be ignored.
Silevrstreak's eyes widened, realization hitting him. The one being they worship, the one they give many offerings to in exchange for bountiful seasons - the Moon God. He tried to lower his head, thinking himself unworthy to look upon his form, but was unable to, his eyes being filled with a holy white light. Strangely enough, when he heard the Moon God's voice, it wasnt as if they were said, but projected into his mind. He shook his head slightly. "No, I do not know why I was brought here, Moon God." It was already rare to see him, so there wasnt a reasonable explanation for this but this must be important. He though long and hard, but to no avail. He felt ashamed for not being able to answer the question. "Why was I brought here?" he asked respectfully.
"I have been watching you, Silverstreak." The deity answered rather simply, "It has been far too long since the cats of this world have felt my presence among them, far too long indeed." He stepped forward then one paw resting upon the warrior's own, or rather, resting within it. The feel of this ethereal paw was an odd thing. It held power, and yet, the appendage itself, along with the authority and strength it held, seemed to be the tom's own, as though another version of himself were in front of him and each thing one felt, so did the other. "It is time, my dear child, for us to lead MoonClan into a new era."
Silverstreak was taken aback. The Moon God was watching him? "Why me," he asked, confusion evident on his face. What ever made him worthy? And lead MoonClan into a new era? This was all so sudden - from the Moon God's appearance to being told they would lead MoonClan. What could this all mean for him? For some reason when he felt the paw on his, he felt as though the deity was always there, but was never seen. Seeing him in his totality was new to Silverstreak but in a way he felt a familiarity to it. He thought back to all the times he rationalized decisions within himself, his inner voice felt as if it was his own but not, in the same way. Could that mean...
The smallest of smiles seemed to find it's way upon the deity's expression as the tom finally began to realize his destiny. "Your are finally beginning to understand." The god confirmed, his voice eerily similar to that one Silverstreak had come to know. "From this day forward, we walk together. Your success is mine, and my power is yours in times of great need." It was a solemn sort of confirmation, both comforting and terrifying to know that one would never be away from the watchful eye of the one they worshiped. Things would be different now, but in time, this would become the every day.
Well that would explain that."What does your power entail," he asked. He was familiar with some of the beings abilities but he believed it would be better to hear it from the cat himself since he would. The prospect of personally knowing the Moon God was exhilarating. If the wish of the deity was for him, rather them, together, to lead, he would surely need his guidance. He began to question himself though. "Am I really the right one for this?"
