Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. So in the warrior cat series, what were the saddest things to you that happened in the series?
I find for me, I'm often the most emotional in the series when a character unfairly dies because of the sins of another.
3) Stonefur being killed by Blackfoot was definitely one. Like the fact that Leopardstar becomes known as the poor leader who had to make a hard decision and she stands by the fact that it's not her fault she did nothing when her deputy was slain just shows the lack of remorse. I can't say I'm surprised that Blackfoot was rewarded for leadership afterwards, but there was no justice for him. In the end, Stonefur was unjustifiably killed, everyone benefited from it and honestly no one really remembers him.
2) Badgerpaw's story definitely got me and I don't know if I reread it again if it would really bother me as much. One of my favorite quotes The hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who remain neutral in times of great moral conflict," just really speaks here. Brokenstar is not the only villain, everyone that stood by and did nothing are just as evil as the villain who started it. And the book never addresses that and I think it's a lost opportunity. Flintfang who went along with the kits training is at fault. Badgerpaw's father, Wolfstep who was the first to favor the idea of training kits as apprentices and his mate who didn't defend her own kit.
1) Needletail's sacrifice was well done and I think if she wasn't killed and Violetpaw was it would be taking from Needletail's character. There was never going to be a reality where Needletail didn't sacrifice herself for Violetpaw. But once again it was sad to see the fallen angel arch for Needletail because she was so young. I really love how the book makes you forget how young she was because Needletail promotes herself to warrior giving herself her own warrior name. However if Rowanstar had no plans to promote Needlepaw she likely wasn't close enough to be a warrior. She may have made bad decisions, but it almost certainly seems to allude that Needletail is younger than she tries to outwardly appear. Not only that, but she names herself NeedleTAIL, she's naming her suffix clearly after Darktail. Then in the end the cat she once looked up to murdering her is just absolutely brutal. Really well done, but the fact that she was so young with clearly no guidance just shows she was born in an environment where she never really had the chance of making it out of ShadowClan alive.
There was also this very quiet moment in Pinestar's novella where Pineheart checks on Doestar and Doestar's like, "I just saw Deerpaw, she wanted me to go someplace with her, but I said I didn't want to get out of my nest." And Pineheart's having doubts and is worrying about everything, but in that moment he just plays along with her like, "Well, she's gone now." And the way Doestar's just like, "Perhaps I'll go tomorrow." And you know and Pineheart knows she's probably going to die and there's just this absolute real moment of being helpless while a loved one is dying and not all there that just came absolutely out of nowhere that just totally got me LOL
So again, what to you was the saddest part in warrior cats and why?
So, I honestly cannot remember most of what happens in Warriors. I'm actually rereading them right now, though I only just finished book three in The Prophecy Begins (currently waiting on books 4-6 in the mail). I forgot how much I loved them. In just the three books so far, the two deaths that have really gotten me are:
1. Lionheart - This sweet boy, who trained Graystripe and took Firestar under his wing, should not have died. Stupid Tigerclaw. It was the saddest thing when Graystripe was mourning him. May he rest in peace in StarClan x
2. Silverstream - Man, she was gone too soon. Her sweet little babies, and poor Graystripe (can you see a pattern here? whose emotions bother me the most? lol). When she died there were just so many emotions. Cinderpaw losing her first patient. Graystripe losing his first love. Fireheart losing a friend. It was rough.
And also, I'd like to include Brokentail (Brokenstar). Not because he died, the stupid piece of scum. But for Yellowfang. That poor Mama.
ALSO! I just found out, like right this moment, that Erin Hunter isn't even a PERSON? It's multiple people?! My childhood is a lie lmao
yes to all of the above, and i think for me it just has to be firestar’s death. i don’t even really consider the way he died to be canon — it was so quick and anticlimactic and this battle between him and tigerstar that had been building up for over a DECADE lasted about two pages and, even if he technically died of his wounds, the way it was written made it seem like he was just crushed by a falling tree and i literally closed that book and haven’t properly read any of the books past that (which, i need to. eventually. i love the sound of needletail and alderheart) (and yes lmao it’s been seven years and i’m still bitter about that entire book) — but he’s the most important character to me ever, full stop, and to have grown up alongside him from an apprentice to that just... i still cry. in every pmv or map that features him for even a split second, i cry. that cat raised me and i love him
also just darkstripe’s entire arc. i know he’s slimy trash but he’s MY slimy trash and he makes my heart cry so hard, i could write essays. and i have.
god there are so many. just the fact that graystripe is still alive when EVERYONE he grew up with and loved is dead
i know these aren’t scenes but i can’t think of any at the moment. oh no okay wait, snowkit’s death. it didn’t bother me as a child but now it breaks my HEART. fluttering bird’s death also made me tear up. fallen leaves, back when he was still a mysterious, sad ghost that we didn’t know much about, was also so tragic. sandstorm living without firestar. bright stream’s death. the fact that littlecloud was basically left to fester in his old age instead of being honoured. brightheart and swiftpaw. feathertail. squirrelflight now being completely alone, without her sister, mother or father. snowfur’s death. just the entirety of bluestar.
leaving the old forest also has to be up there
okay now i’m rambling but i have SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT WARRIORS and i cry all the time
From reading Yellowfang's book I do feel bad for her. It was like the world literally had it out for her. She didn't get a choice in being special, Brokenstar seemed to just be born evil according to Yellowfang's book so it was like they never had a chance to find their own path, they were born with a destiny which always felt unfair to me. So the fact that they were both trapped in this destiny together was just heart breaking. And yes, Cleaver told me there were multiple authors and that blew my mind xD
Dude when Firestar died I was so confused, I thought he got hit by lightning. Then I reread it, thought maybe it was a tree, then maybe it was the battle wounds? Whatever it was I was so confused, like I was in a state of shock that he'd die in such a random way. And that the cats were stupid and like, "No, this is his battle." Like bro, you go help your pal fight a demon, okay, that's what friends are for xD
I feel Greystripe made it so long cause he's of course a fan favorite, but he also has his kits to look after. My little conspiracy theory is because he spent time as a kittypet that he got vaccinated so he's not prone to diseases as much as others and has lasted longer for it. I really liked Blossomfall's literal fallen angel arch cause I did not see that coming. (Though I really gotta wonder why he named all his kits with the initial B, I feel that should mean something, but I got no clue xD)
And y'know, I still wonder if Bright Stream hadn't died would Clear Sky still have been the same insane leader of SkyClan that I love? xD
More importantly if she hadn't died would that mean there wouldn't be a ThunderClan? So many questions.
