Crimsonrose padded into DayClan. Mysterypaw's eyes widening in amazement at the fields of wheat and the golden beauty of the territory. "I didn't realize DayClan's land was so picturesque, a fitting place for the light hearts of the forest," "Looks can be deceiving," Crimsonrose said beckoning for Mysterypaw to come. "I dont mother, it looks like a fine place for us to rest before continuing." The black she cat was curious about where exactly her mother was leading her. Since the departure of WinterClan had happened suddenly after Crimsonrose returned from a trip to check in on the league. Whatever her mother learned or saw had prompted her and Mysterypaw to leave. Mysterypaw hoped her mother would tell her soon, but she was fine following her. It was cool to see lands outside of WinterClan.

Aspidistraleaf was walking the borders. Although lately she wondered why. It seemed that DayClan could care less if anyone came and went. She stopped as she saw a cat she would recognize anywhere for her renowned nature and sharp claws. Crimsonrose, what was she doing in DayClan? Visiting perhaps? She hurried forward. Her blue eyes curious as she rounded the greenery bangle fur glistening from a recent bath. "Crimsonrose." she greeted dipping her head.
A growl rumbled in Windchaser's throat. Glowstar may allow cats to come and go but the ginger Immortal Council didn't like intruders on their land. She rose from her crouching position in the wheat after Aspidistraleaf had approached. The other Dayclan she-cat was being too kind. Windchaser padded over, claws extended and her fur rising along her spine. She knew of Crimsonrose but she had never spoken to her directly. "What are you doing on Dayclan territory?" Crimsonrose better have a good explanation. Her bold green eyes flicked from the intruder to the apprentice next to her who she recognized as Mysterypaw.
Mysterypaw tensed up crouching down, ready to act on her mother's orders. While Aspidistralleaf was calm, the cat she recognized from an all groups gathering as one of Glowstars high council or what not looked aggressive.
Crimsonrose flicked her tail. "Relax Mysterypaw," she told her daughter. Then to Windchaser. "Unfortunately, for me thus will be a quick visit, I need to speak with Glowstar. And no," a smile curled on her face teeth barring, "It will not be for the glorious match with your leader I one day wish to have. But instead a more... personal matter,"
Mysterypaw sat on her haunches confused. She tilted her head, why did her mother need to speak to Glowstar?

Aspidistraleaf's ear twitched with annoyance at Windchasers overly defensive reaction. Last she had heard Crimsonrose hadn't been ripping out as many throats as she was so known to do. "I think Glowstar would be intrigued to speak to you Crimsonrose." She commented her blue gaze shifting to Windchaser with an arched brow. Would she agree or send them packing?
"After I speak with Glowstar you'll be made aware," Crimsonrose said simply, she turned to Aspidistraleaf "Would you mind Mysterypaw while I go speak to Glowstar? Shes young and well, likely to be rough if she gets into an encounter."
"I dont need minding mother!" Mysterypaw protested, "Im not a kit anymore!"
"I know dear, but you're too much like me to leave you alone unsupervised until I get everything settled with Glowstar," Crimsonrose said evasively.
"Why cant i come with you to 'settle' things!" Mysterypaw said insistently, not whining, she was a mighty fighter! She did not whine.
"Because this is personal," Crimsonrose said, "And... there will be times when you can't always be by my side,"
"But why? Ive been with you forever mama! Ill never leave you! You're the greatest and most strongest warrior EVER! Together we're unstoppable!"
Crimsonrose went quiet at that, to Mysterypaw's confusion sadness colored her mother's gaze. Had she said something wrong?
Crimsonrose shook her head and turned back to Windchaser, "Will you take me to Glowstar or will you try to stop me finding her myself?"
Windchaser flicked her tail irritably. How much she wanted to claw Crimsonrose's ears off. Reluctantly, she nodded. "If you put one paw out of place..." she threatened, her facial expression making it clear that she was not joking around. She turned her back on Crimsonrose and headed for Dayclan's camp. This had better be good she thought, keeping her claws extended.

"I can keep her with me Crimson. We will say in the camps ruins." she meowed flicking her tail for Mysterypaw to follow her as she turned to pad along with Windchaser. Yet slightly behind. The she-cat was testy today.
There were a few cats you never wanted to meet your first day on DayClan's border. That was Wanderingwright and Leucisticcrow and then of course, Windchaser. Windchaser always had a knack at finding outsiders ever since she was an apprentice, Glowstar could only guess it was her speed that allowed her to patrol the borders swiftly and her keen eyes that let her catch any approaching figures. Truthfully if she had followed her original path and been made nemesis of Primal Instinct she would have no trouble chasing away outsiders, but with DayClan it just felt unfair. The land was too beautiful, it was a primal urge to wander across DayClan into the infinite fields and breathtaking groves. In other words, who could resist the majesty of DayClan's land? Even before she joined DayClan she definitely couldn't.
Looking at Crimsonrose she wondered if she was still happy in WinterClan guarding every leader that came through. When she was proxy it was exciting and at certain points liberating, but as time passed there were abusive nemesis's and it became less about nobility and more about surviving. Surviving was boring, serving someone noble, memorable and the next serving someone arrogant and idiotic was a job over time felt less interesting and more wrong. Maybe it was just her and Crimsonrose would never know the feeling.
"Crimsonrose, pleasure to see a savior of DayClan, pleasure or business?" Glowstar asked.
Crimsonrose gave a nod to Aspidistraleaf, Mysterypaw huffing as her mother went over to Glowstar.
"How do you know mother anyways?" Mysterypaw asked, voice grumbling the she cat clearly displeased by her mother's refusal to clue her in on what was going on.
///---///
Crimsonrose tilted her head at the savior comment. Then she realized she was referring to WinterClan's assistance in helping DayClan and SpringClan break free from SunClan. "I was just doing my duty," She said nodding. "Serving a cause that allows me to seek strong opponents has made my life very full... along with other things." She glanced back towards where her daughter was being huffy with Aspidistraleaf. "Unfortunately, today I am here on family business. With Leatherstar no longer in power, WinterClan has declined, I have grown weary shouldering burdens placed on me by those unfit to lead the clan my student lead so well. But I did it as I thought it was best for my daughter... However, I've learned my other daughter, Elyon, has risen to becoming a force to be reckoned with in the league. While I fear Mysterypaw has grown comfortable in my shadow." Her eyes darkened. To her seeing potential squandered for any reason was a terrible thing to allow. Mysterypaw could not remain in her shadow, because eventually Crimsonrose would not be there to cast it, leaving Mysterypaw limited to never achieving more than Crimsonrose. And Crimsonrose wanted the world for her daughter. "So I've brought her here. Despite DayClan's soft appearance, you are a strong cat, you have led them well, and you would be a fine example for Mysterypaw to look up to and strive to be like. I cannot be that for her anymore, because I feel she has placed me on a pedestal as her mother, and that I can and will always protect her." Crimsonrose's eyes darkened. "And that unshakeable belief in me nearly caused me to lose her." Seeing Mysterypaw bleeding out so soon after being named an apprentice, nearly slain by ghosts with a grudge against Valleystar, made bitterness rise in Crimsonrose once more. She could not tolerate weak leaders endangering her daughter. Glowstar at least whatever demons she held, would at least give her daughter a fighting chance, and the challenges would be something Crimsonrose was confident her daughter could manage. "So I'm here to ask that you take her into your ranks and make her one of your finest warriors."
"Elyon! Yes, she murdered Soaringdawn our emissary and quite a few others I hear. You must be very proud," Glowstar said, although really this was just typical mom talk in the league. Kill counts were always a thing of pride. However those things would get complicated, such as how her current mates son murdered her son, it was just a thing that happened sometimes, a friends child killing someone you love. To Glowstar the league was always more predator than murderer, having more business involved in the kill than personal malice. For now Elyon got a pass given that she was a trainee when she killed and having been in Revolution Groups she knew trainees had little choice and even smaller understanding of the scope of their actions.
"Of course, we'll take her in," Glowstar said dipping her head before retreating back towards the emissary den and coming back with a feather, "This is the feather of love... Maybe devotion... Y'know let's call it the feather of love for now. You can use it to have visiting rights with Mysterypaw."
Windchaser, who had taken a seat beside her leader, bristled at Crimsonrose's plead to take in her daughter. That's just what we need--another mouth to feed. She thought bitterly. However, if she knew Glowstar, she would accept. She began to put herself in Crimsonrose's paws. She had kits of her own and they were growing fast, already being able to pick from the fresh-kill pile on their own. How would she feel if this was her situation? If one of her daughters were in possible danger. The things she would sacrifice for her kits. Before she could resist, she blurted out, "Whats in it for us?"
Crimsonrose nodded, "I am, she is a fearsome fighter, and the fact she has done so makes me think with a different guide Mysterypaw will do the same. Though I do apologize for the loss of one your own. You need not worry, Mysterypaw has at least come away with my code of honor. She might get into a few fights to see who's strongest and all that, but she'll settle down quickly enough."
She took the feather gratefully tucking it into the fur behind her ear, and then turned to Windchaser and straightened up eyes narrowed. "I am a former hunter of the league, I have earned my keep regardless of clan, I was a shard of WinterClan, and then a knight before I have now chosen to cut ties. My daughter Elyon, who remains in the league has surpassed me greatly, and I believe Mysterypaw has the same if not greater potential. I am entrusting developing her to you, you should be grateful to have a young cat with such possibility in your ranks. You will get to mold her in part, more than WinterClan has. perhaps even more than I have. If you do not recognize the gift I have laid at your paws you are a fool."
She turned to head back to Aspidistraleaf and Mysterypaw. The black she cat now trying to see what was going on. Then Crimsonrose paused and turned back to look at Windchaser over her shoulder. "And if you should bring any harm to my daughter out of some misplaced desire to hurt me whoever you are." She added curling her lips. "I am no longer tied to any group, I only have the one tie at this moment and that is to my daughter. I left the league for her, I've left Winterclan for her, if you think I won't kill and destroy for her, you are sadly mistaken." Her words were spoken calmly, but the heat in her amber gaze was strong enough to burn Windchaser to ash.
Windchaser flexed her claws and narrowed her bold green eyes. She leaped forward to cut Crimsonrose from her path. "I don't care who you think you are. You are lucky Glowstar has allowed this. If your kit becomes a problem, I will find you directly. Do not threaten me, Crimsonrose. I will personally care for your daughter but if she is too much for anyone to handle, I will come for you." Her green eyes bore into Crimsonrose threateningly. She did not raise her voice but her tone held spite.
"If she's trouble, we can handle it, Windchaser," Glowstar promised before leaning in close to Windchaser's ear and whispering, "The league has killed many of their own including my own kits. What's in it for us is that they don't get to take Mysterypaw's life."
There was a look of somber that misted in Glowstar's gaze. It stared into Windchaser's and seemed to almost telepathically speak if only things could be different. If only the worst they did was exile, but places like the Regime too had been known for imprisoning and harshly punishing youths. Absum Lux definitely wasn't above it either and WinterClan's negligence was obvious from witnessing her own son lead the clan. DayClan was the land of the privileged, where the good guys won and proper manners and good attitudes got you to high places. Her best guess for why positivity and altruism ruled so high in DayClan was because of the outsider culture. That those who did join were often those who came from tragic situations, who fought to make it this far and saw to it that others didn't suffer. Those born to outsider families grew up thinking not of themselves, but for what they could give to ensure better futures. A way of life considered fantasy among many Revolution Groups.
"I know how hard it is to raise kits in such lethal environments, we will take care of her. Windchaser is an honorable cat and will give this same fierceness to protect her like any DayClan cat. You can feel safe knowing that she's guarding the clan borders and will not let just anyone pass through," Glowstar reassured Crimsonrose.
"Don't you threaten my mother!" Mysterypaw cried, unable to watch the clear threat against her mother be made (even though she had no idea what her mother was talking to Glowstar and Windchaser about), the black she cat jumping around Aspidistaleaf to try and get close to Crimsonrose and Windchaser.
Crimsonrose merely raised her tail to Mysterypaw to tell her daughter to halt. "Hmm, how unfortunate you look like you'd make an interesting challenge for certain, but you will find your doubts unfounded." She turned to her daughter who came up now slower, though the black she cat's fur was puffed out and was giving Windchaser a dirty look.
"Mysterypaw, I am going to be leaving you here in DayClan." Crimsonrose said going over to her ignoring Windchaser now.
"We're moving to DayClan?" Mysterypaw asked tilting her head.
"No, I have a duty calling me elsewhere. And I can't allow that duty to conflict with your growth. So, you will remain here and learn under these cats." She nodded to Glowstar. "Glowstar might look gentle, but she is fiercer fighter than even I..."
"But no one is stronger than you mama!" Mysterypaw protested coming closer to Crimsonrose her green eyes pleading. "Why can't I go with you?! You said you'd always be there for me!" She wailed.
"I was wrong," Crimsonrose said softly resting her tail on Mysterypaw's shoulder bringing her close. "I couldn't protect you from those possessed cats, I couldn't protect you from the Dark Forest, and there will be more I can't protect you from. I am now smothering you, you need me to move aside so my shadow is no longer preventing the light from getting to you, from letting you flourish and grow. Grow up to where you'll be strong enough to protect yourself and the ones you love, and the ones you want to fight for. Fighting and strength is in your blood. You will surpass me one day. But you can't do that if I don't let you start getting better on your own. So I will leave you here, with Aspidistraleaf to act as your guardian while you're here. So you treat her like you would me, and you respect Glowstar, she's stronger and though she might not act it, a whole lot more experienced and wiser. So do give her the respect she deserves. Also don't be like your sister and kill anyone."
"But I don't want you to go!" Mysterypaw cried pressing in closer.
Crimsonrose's eyes softened and she nuzzled her daughter, "I promise you if you need me, I will come back to help you. I won't be far. I promise. But we need this Mysterypaw. You need a place to grow, and I need to refind my place and purpose in this world."
Windchaser glared at Crimsonrose for a long moment before obeying Glowstar and backing away, forcing her fur to lie flat. She watched as Crimsonrose said goodbye to her daughter. She turned to Glowstar, her voice soft enough for her leader to hear, "If one of her daughter is a murderer, why are we allowing her other one here? What about my kits? What about the rest of Dayclan? She could follow her bloodline and become a murderer! This is risky, Glowstar."
Glowstar watched Crimsonrose leave and then turned back to Windchaser, "The Eerie family has an old saying, there are two wolves inside every cat, one is hate and destruction, the other is love and peace and both are fighting to kill the other, so which one wins? The answer to that riddle, is that it is the one that you feed."
She moved over to Mysterypaw's side, "We're all here for you Mysterypaw, I was a little older than you when my father left me in a strange new place, I know it's not easy, but I'll make sure you make some friends here. And if you ever need some comfort or guidance, I'll be here for you."
Windchaser tilted her head slightly as Glowstar padded over to Mysterypaw, her mind whirling at what her leader had told her. Which one wins? The one you feed. Her leader's words rang in her mind. Could they steer Mysterypaw in the right direction? Or was she already lost?
Buttercupkit bounced up to Windchaser, her bright turquoise eyes gleaming. "Hey mom! I saw a-" she cut off when her gaze caught Mysterypaw. "Who is that?" She asked in a small voice.
"That is Mysterypaw. She will be staying with us from now on." Windchaser explained to her daughter. The ginger warrior tensed when Buttercupkit bounded over to Mysterypaw but decided not to intercept, thinking about the riddle Glowstar had just told her.
"Hi Mysterypaw! My name is Buttercupkit!" She squeaked, her eyes wide with curiosity.
