Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
She leaped lightly down the scattering of rocks to land firmly on all four paws, her head raised and green eyes darting quickly over the undergrowth. She fell into a low crouch and crept forward, her tail lashing slowly as she sought out her prey. The scent was stronger now, and she knew it had to be close. The former rogue felt a thrill of excitement race through her. She had come a long way since then, and she was proud to prove it to her clan. It had been moons since she had joined, most of her life, but she never stopped being grateful.
The mouse was finally there in front of her. She lowered herself down further and took a deep breath. On the inhale, she readied herself; on the exhale, she lunged forward, and caught the prey neatly in her grip. Pumpkinnose sat back and looked down at it, then grinned. Not bad!
"Nice catch!" Shadeberry called out He had smelled the prey and was hoping to catch it himself, but he had noticed the unfamiliar looking cat stalking it too, and by the look of the intensity in the eyes of the cat, any sudden movement would make him jump and scare it off. He walked up a little close and his eyes widened, "that's massive!"
(No, I’m not sure why her bio has her as a male xD I should probably get that fixed one of these days.)
Pumpkinnose looked up at the other cat, surprised to see him. She has been so focused on the musky scent of the mouse, she hadn’t even noticed there was another cat around. Pumpkinnose has a bad habit of doing that. Her mentor has tried his best to teach her to be more alert, but the naive she-cat has never picked up on that lesson.
“It is, isn’t it?” She beamed. “I guess it was getting ready for the cold moons, same as us.”
"I suppose they must be... It's a great catch anyway! So, uh... I haven't seen you hunting around here before?" he half stated half questioned. He immediately winced with how mousebrained that sounded. Of course she had hunted here before, she was in MoonClan just the same as he was. He licked down his chest fur embarrassed, trying to hide his face, which he was sure had a goofy expression on it by now.
"Do you want to keep hunting?" he asked. "We could try for a couple more big ones, if you're not too busy..." he looked around and realized there was nothing else going on, and again nervously twitched his tail. What a good first impression he was making to a pretty she-cat.
Pumpkinnose looking back down at her prey, admiring. She wasn't self-conscious about being proud of herself; she had found the mouse and she wanted a moment to bask in her joy. At his question her ear flicked up and she looked back at him, her head tilted. "Really? I guess I do blend into the night," she mused, wondering if that was it. The nocturnal clan often hunted in darkness, so maybe that was why he hadn't seen her out hunting from a distance.
Then she was grinning again. "Sure! I was going to hunt anyway, this will be more fun," she agreed cheerfully.
