Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Lionspirit made his way into the dream of Celestialpaw. He was over joyed when his previous apprentice, Duskpaw, now named Duskheart, had received his warrior name. He had even been present for the naming ceremony. He could recall his heart swelling with pride as the clan cheered his apprentice's warrior name. Now, Celestialpaw had been chosen to be his new apprentice. He almost couldn't wait to meet her. The large mainecoon appeared before her in a field of lush green grass, his majestic golden fur dancing in an imaginary wind. Stars sparkled through his fur and at his paws while his eyes were bright gold balls of light--like the sun itself had spawned two miniature suns and placed them in his eyes. Although his ghostly apparition was just barely see-through, the warm sun seemed to make his golden fur illuminate, much like one would describe as a lion-like angel. He spoke to his apprentice, "Celestialpaw, it is time for your training. Are you ready to begin?" His voice didn't sound like a cat who would be alive. His voice seemed to have drifted in the air like a whisper carried by the imaginary breeze. It was deep and rolled like thunder but yet soft, wispy, and welcoming.
"This is so weird," Celestialpaw commented as her dream was interrupted by her new mentor. "Weird in a good way," she clarified, turning to face her ghostly mentor. The daughter of Rubyflame and Fang was small, wiry, and lean, with a dark ginger tabby coat and pale blue eyes that always gleamed with some private joke. Those eyes took in Lionspirit now, her whiskers twitching with unbridled amusement. "You even look like a spirit mentor. Do you look that way naturally or are you playing the part?"
A purr rumbled deep in Lionspirit's throat, his golden eyes gleaming with amusement. "Good question! I like to appear this way. A little dramatic don't you think?" He answered with a wink. "After all, who doesn't like a grand entrance?"
"Absolutely. I always appreciate a dramatic flair." Celestialpaw purred, rolling back her shoulders theatrically. "What are we starting with? How do I practice fighting- can I even touch you?" The ginger apprentice glanced around her, at the disappointingly normal background of her dream, the Dayclan camp.
He chuckled, "patience, now. Patience is a good value to have, keep that in mind." He followed her gaze as it swept the camp. "Not good enough for you? How about this?" He blinked and they were suddenly swooshed into a large training meadow with a river flowing at one end. Lush green grass bowed to a breeze that was actually there this time. Lionspirit had looked better, too. He was much more visible and looked like one of Dayclan's mortal members. He stretched, "ah, much better, yes?"
"Wow!" Celestialpaw let out the exclamation breathlessly, thoroughly impressed with this whole spirit mentor thing. "Super cool." It was remarkable how real it all felt, a breeze moving the long strands of her pelt. Her pale blue eyes roamed the setting before returning to her more corporeal mentor. "Okay, I'm being patient. What now?"
He let out a light laugh. He liked Celestialpaw. She had spirit. "We are going to learn hunting first. Some may think defending your clan is the most important thing. But how can your clan fight without strength and energy? Its always important for your clan to be fed so that is what we will start with." He knew every apprentice got bored with the basics. But he knew that without the basics, they couldnt continue with her training. "So, let me see your crouch. Thats important for hunting. If your posture isnt correctly, you wont land your pounce or sneak up on your prey."
"Okie dokie." Celestialpaw nodded, sinking into a fair approximation of a hunting crouch. She hadn't formally hunted yet, but she did have a lot of time spent chasing bugs or other kits around camp, so she wasn't too shabby at the crouching thing. "How's this? Best you've ever seen from a first-timer, right?" She shifted her weight between her two back paws, eager to start the part of training that involved actually moving around.
