Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Active Hours: NightClan is Nocturnal, they will do most of their hunting, training, and work in the dark of the night. Though they can be up during the day if it is necessary.
Training: Apprentices receive a partner to train with along with a mentor, this is to help get young cats used to working with their fellows at a young age, as well as a single guide to help promote their skills and their teamwork.
Temperament: NightClan’s loyalty is first and foremost to NightClan. However, their leader has softened the limits on outsiders forming alliances with the clan of the night, as well as opened NightClan for outsiders to join. Provided they join the family in the Blood Brother Ceremony.
Fur Color/Eye Color: Though most NightClan cats are of dark coloration to best blend in with the shadows of the night. All fur colors are accepted, as well as eye colors.
NightClan Special Ranks:
The Dusk Ambassadors: A group of cats that the leader deploys when they need them to handle matters outside of the clan. They are primarily for diplomacy over battle, but they are cats that are skilled in handling situations with those outside of NightClan. Be they rogue, another clan, or one of the revolutionary groups.
They are the go to in times of disasters so NightClan can provide immediate aid to allies, or friends in danger.
NightClan Ceremonies/Rituals:
Blood Brother Ceremony:
The ceremony that binds an outsider to a member of NightClan, thus making them family, and a full member of the greater clan.
It is a ceremony that is between two cats, the member of NightClan vouching for the newcomer and the newcomer.
The vouching cat will have spent time with the newcomer to decide if they desire them to be a part of their family: can be as a sibling/child/mate depending on the circumstances. Once they have they go to the leader and request for the ceremony to be performed and the newcomer fully inducted.
The leader then gathers the clan together at moonhigh and tells the vouching cat and the newcomer to come forward.
Then the following ceremony begins:
“I, Burningstar, leader of NightClan, call our family to order. Tonight, (vouching cat’s name) has requested that (newcomer’s name) be formally recognized as their family, and a part of our clan as a whole.”
A sharp stone is brought out either by the deputy or the medicine cat.
“Thus these two will take the blood stone, and draw their own blood. For it is the blood that binds family together, and in the brotherhood of NightClan, the ties of brotherhood are reinforced by our blood ties. You may now prick your paws, press them together and swear on the blood that runs in your veins that it is now the blood of family, of one unit, within this clan.”
The two cats then prick their paws enough to draw blood and press them together. Making a vow to each other and the clan similar to the below prompt. (Though feel free to add some words before the below vow)
NC Member: “I, (Vouching Cat), solemnly swear as a member of NightClan, that from this moment forward you will be considered a member of my family, and as such a full member of NightClan's brotherhood. So I ask of you (Newcomer), do you accept my blood bond?”
Newcomer: “I do.” (Though can be expanded upon with whatever additions you like).
Burningstar/Clan Leader: “From this moment forwards (Newcomer) is NC Member’s family. They’ve shed their blood in proof of their loyalty to each other, and thus (Newcomer) is now a full member of NightClan.”
The Pride Alliance:
The Pride refers more specifically to the alliance of NightClan, DayClan, SunClan, and more recently Absum Lux.
The alliance was formed by NightClan leader Burningstar; DayClan’s leader Glowstar; SunClan’s High Priestess Foxstar; and the late Tsar Kerrigan of BrookClan. The alliance allows for NightClan cats to interact in a friendly manner with their two neighbors, as well as gain familiarity with Absum Lux.
Apprentice Gatherings: Every moon, a day or so after the normal forest clan gathering, one of the groups within the pride hosts an event where the other members bring their apprentices to interact and mingle with their fellow allies.
A massive cavern formed during the earthquake that exposed a once underground body of water. The sides of this is steep, with a winding path that is the only safe way up and down. The winding path leads to a cave opening in the face of the cliff face that ring around the pool of water. That cave opening leads into the cave system where NightClan has made their new home.
Camp: NightClan are nocturnal cats, for a long time they had to make dens woven tightly to avoid any sun coming in and disturbing their rest. Any light seeping in could disturb their sleep. So shifting to make their homes in a cavern where no sun could enter, and the cavern is lit by caverns filled with crystals that reflect only the light that permeates from the entrance to the Cenote and gaps in the ceiling in the main area. The main area features a rock structure for the younger cats to try and climb, and for other cats to relax on if they'd like. In a smaller chamber lies the Light Stone, a massive quartz that lights up when the moonlight strikes it just so at moonhigh. It is then and there that Burningstar makes her announcements bathed in the light of the moon and the cats lit up by the splendor of the light stone.
