The fields of DayClan were surprisingly windy on such a clear summer day, the long wild grasses being violently pushed from side to side near the southern border. For the most part there didn't seem to be any signs of animal life near this part of the territory, all accept the occasion rabbit that wandered too closely... at least until...
A loud jingling sound would startle one of the rabbits as a little tom bounded from his hiding spot, his ginger coat sprouting like fire as his soft white paws came crashing into the creature. Despite his quick catch, the little cat struggled with the creature, causing it to manage to wiggle free and run quickly for its hiding place. "Wait!" the little tom cat cried out, attempting to catch up to it only to watch it run into the depths of its home. The tom looked down in defeat, his face filled with fear and shame. 'I have to help her, if I don't bring her back something to eat she'll die.'
The tom stood up and attempted to turn around and find something else when a scent filled the air, his eyes growing wide as he picked up the scent of wild cats who claimed the territory.
To any cat who viewed the clan cats as wild, Kasdeya would undoubtedly appear strikingly untamed. The recently named Immortal Council member emerged from the long grass, where she watched the fumble made by the young tom. Her long cream fur was slightly windblown, and her mismatched eyes- one blue, one orange, both piercing and brilliantly colored- were focused on the dejected trespasser.
Had she still been a Hunter in Primal Instinct, she would have chased off the tom and carved into him a few reminders to stay away. Now, burdened by things like position and morality, the elegant she-cat found herself trying civility before violence.
"You're trespassing on Dayclan territory," Kasdeya told him in her clear, high tone. "Who are you, and why are you here?"

The little tom cat's ears fell back as he bent himself low, trying to show he wasn't a threat. Around his neck he wore a green collar with a little bell that rang ever so gently as he trembled slightly under her gaze. "I'm sorry, I don't know where I am or how we got here. I just know my sister is sick and I need to get her something to eat! Please I just want to find her some food, I promise I'll leave as soon as I do," the young tom pleaded.
It was clear the cat was desperate, while he didn't seem unable to hunt for himself he clearly wasn't trained at all to hunt in a wide open field like this. His upper and lower legs held a decent amount of muscle on them, indicating he did have some strength despite his kittypet collar. Surprisingly enough, he didn't carry the familiar scent of twoleg as he stood there in front of Kasdeya nor was his fur completely clean. He also had a torn ear which was clearly a recent wound he must of recently received as it still possessed some crusted blood.
"If you won't let me hunt at least let me go back to her," he spoke, looking down towards the ground, "She'll die without me, I can't afford to be eaten by wild cats."
Kasdeya snorted at his plea. “If I was going to eat you, I wouldn’t talk to you first. Stand up. I’m not going to hurt you.” Kittypets were so dramatic. She took a minute to process his request, her whiskers twitching as she thought.
“I can’t let you hunt on our territory, nor can I give you food. But if your sister is as sick as you say, I won’t let her blood be on my paws.” Kasdeya had decided after her departure from the League that no innocent cats would suffer because of her any more.
“Tell me your name and your story, and I’ll take you off our territory and help you get some food.”

The kittypet stood up, his fur still raised as he did his best to maintain his composure as his gaze met the older cat's. "My name is Nico, my sister and I woke up in a box near the edge of your territory. We were practically tossed around before the box burst open finally letting us out. We have been doing our best to survive for some time all before Olive..." his ears fell back as he shook his head.
"Please I just need to get her some place where I can find her help. She's been like this for days and her breathing is getting weaker and weaker. I don't know how much longer she will survive like this. We never have had a sickness like this before," he spoke before drawing closer to the she-cat. "Please will you come with me to check on her before we head out to where you wish to go? I can't leave her without water for a long duration of time especially with this heat."
Kasdeya listened to his retelling, her expression unchanging. She wanted to trust this tom, truly, but her trust was not easily won. "I will come with you," she nodded, tilting her head to indicate he should lead the way to his sister Olive. Worst case scenario, he was leading her into a trap, and she had no doubts about her own ability to slaughter him, and anyone he was conspiring with. But hopefully this tom was sincere, and she was willing to help him if that was the case.
"Why were you in a box?" Kasdeya asked as they began walking, moving at her swaying gait.

"I don't know," he admitted as he began to lead her away, his eyes looking down in sadness, "My sister and I lived a happy life with our twolegs in the city. We were often afraid to go out due to the wild cats that lived in the area often purposely doing what they could to terrorize kittypets like us, but Cole always told us if we kept to our garden and returned home before nightfall we'd always come home safe... oh Cole was our neighbor. He was older and sometimes a nag but he often acted like a parent to us. Anyway suddenly our twolegs were carrying the two of us in a box our to their motor machine and in the middle of the trip closed us inside. Olive and I were scared and didn't know what was happening, but we were suddenly on the ground just near the road after the box finally let us out."
Nico didn't seem to show any indication of telling a lie in his story, and it seemed rather understandable given his appearance...
"I see," Kasdeya said, combing through his words and looking for a lie. Finding none, she shrugged. She didn't know enough about twolegs or kittypets, to detect any inconsistencies or falsehoods, so she accepted his tale. "Where have you been sleeping, and what have you been eating to survive?" These questions were a little irrelevant, but she found herself faintly curious about how these kittypets were dealing with their new situation.

"Olive and I have been hunting, just eating what we can catch in the territory. I don't enjoy admitting this, but even with her collar my sister has always been a better hunter than me especially with the birds that appeared in our garden sometimes. It was all okay until I managed to catch a rabbit that didn't seem very hard to catch. In all honesty when I look back, I have a feeling it may have been ill. My sister had not eatten that day and the rabbit was small, so I wanted her to have it.... I just really hope she recovers, I can't stand the thought of having accidently killed her..."
His head poked upward for a moment, seeming to scent the air before his eyes grew wide, dashing off ahead of Kasdeya.
When she would finally catch up, she would see Nico bent over a slightly small pale ginger she-cat, her green eyes seeming blurred as her sides heaved up and down. Based on her breath which was hoarse with mucus, it was easy to tell she had something appearing to be green cough. Whether or not this was the case for sure would be up to a Medicine Cat to determine.
"Olive I told you to stay near the box," Nico fretted, laying down beside his sibling and beginning to worriedly lick her fur.
"I'm sorry Nico..." the she-cat responded weakly, her sides seeming to struggle to move up and down, "I was really thirsty and thought I could make it to the stream."

Kasdeya kept her distance mostly out of precaution, as the she-cat had no desire to get sick. It did seem Nico had been telling the truth, so she came into view of the other she-cat, Olive, slowly. She didn't want to startle an already incapacitated cat, though she knew her appearance might give any kitty-pet concern. "Hello," she greeted awkwardly, her mismatched eyes taking in the entirety of the scene, her long tail twitching as she tried to decide what to do. "I'm Kasdeya." She realized after saying her name that she had never introduced herself to Nico, though she doubted he knew a traditional clan name from one like hers.

Olive looked up in alarm, but only turned her gaze from her to her brother as the stranger appeared. "Brother why have you brought a wild cat here? Don't you remember what Cole said about the cats in the city?" the she-cat spoke, seeming to scold her brother more than be fearful of the newcomer.
Nico sighed before saying, "She caught me hunting for you in her territory, besides I don't think the wild cats here are the same as the ones in the city..." he muttered before looking at Kasdeya, "There was an organized group of cats that near our home and would often target kittypets like us specifically. Please forgive my sister's reaction as I promise she doesn't mean it to be rude."
The young she-cat began coughing heavily, causing her brother to frantically lick her shoulders as she did. She shrugged him off stubbornly with a huff, "Brother please cut it out, you're being emb-barrassing..." she grunted hoarsely before looking back at the she-cat. "It's a pleasure to meet you despite the circumstances..."
"A pleasure." Kasdeya echoed hollowly, offering the closest thing she could to a smile. "I promise I mean you no harm," she reassured Olive, glancing between her and her brother. "But you do appear to be quite sick. We have a Medicine Cat, who is trained in treating sickness and discomfort with herbal remedies. If you would allow me to, I can get them to come take a look at you- I can't take you back to camp without consulting them first, because you may infect the kits." Ignoring how oddly formal she thought she sounded, she glanced at Nico. "If you walk into the woods over there, there is a small stream. You can soak moss in it and bring it back for your sister to drink, since she's thirsty."

Nico nodded before turning to his sister, "I'll be back soon," he spoke before looking to Kasdeya, "Please look after her until I return, I won't take very long." The tom would then rush off into the bushes, his collar bell jingling as he rushed down through the grass to find moss.
Olive then would turn to gaze towards Kasdeya, her eyes narrowing mildly. "I suppose he didn't quite explain everything did he... my guess is he did not think you would... come to help me if you truly knew who we were..." She began another bout of coughing, more mucus erupting from her throat before she snorted up some of the mucus in her nose, "I won't lie, we ran away from them to avoid becoming as they were."
"Could you explain that a little more?" Kasdeya cocked an eyebrow, puzzled by her statement. "You ran away to avoid becoming like the city cats? The ones who hunt kittypets? Why would that make me not help you?" She moved a little closer as she spoke, eventually settling into a seated position a few tail-lengths away from the sickly she-cat. Her eyes were calm, steady, focused on Olive as she spoke and as they both awaited Nico's return.

"Nico and I received our current names as kittypets, he wasn't lying when he explained we were dumped here during our owners from the city. I could not tell you for sure whether or not it was intentional in all honesty. Anyway, it's because we're from a fairly violent group of cats called Primal Instinct. Our mother brought us to the twolegs in hopes we could remain with them and stay safe and despite us initially desiring to go against her wishes, we eventually decided to accept them." Another bout of coughing erupted from her before she forced herself to continue with a rather tired expression. "Cole was our neighbor and treated us kindly as I would imagine a father would treat his young... it was nice knowing him for the time we had. All his warnings as we explained did originally come from him, and we willingly wore twoleg colors to try hiding our origins. I'm not certain how far the reputation of our former home has reached, but we still prefer to remain cautious all the same. Please understand why my brother chose to lie to you, we were forced to grow up very quickly in our life and finally thought we found a safe haven... then we crashed here and now I'm too sick to fetch myself something to drink."
Kasdeya felt her world lurch when the words Primal Instinct, the name of her own former home, came from Olive's mouth. How, how, how could she travel so far, rise through the ranks of her new clan, and still never escape the effects of her past? Three cats in Dayclan besides herself were from the League, and now these kittypets. Her eyes flared with a burst of indecipherable emotion, and she looked away for a long moment before returning her gaze to Olive.
"I know of the League," she responded simply, her voice flat. "I understand why you ran." She was on the verge of telling them the truth, but found herself closing her mouth. They didn't need to know the horrors she had helped commit. "I'll still help you, don't worry about that."

Olive sighed gently in relief, her green gaze growing calm. "Thank you, thank you very much for your understanding," she spoke, the young cat seeming thankful for her reassurance, "I promise we will not cause more trouble for your and your home than necessary. If it is your wish, my brother and I will leave as soon as I am healthy enough to travel."
"Oliveh 've renermed," Nico's voice sounded muffled by the soaked moss in his mouth, quickly moving over and setting it beside her. His gaze returned to Kasdeya, "Thank you very much for keeping her company, I promise to repay you for your help however way I can."
"Brother, she knows about the League," Olive told him gently, her brother turning to her alarmed.
"OLIVE, we don't know the cats in this area! We do not know how far our reputation has reached, the last thing we need right now is for anyone to come after us! Think of the risk mother took bringing us to the twolegs..."
"She promised to still help us, and I will take her at her word..." she spoke kindly, leaning down and beginning to lap at the moss thankful to finally have her thirst quenched.
"Dayclan is a refuge for former League cats. Our leader, Glowstar, is one herself," Kasdeya told them as Olive drank, turning her gaze to Nico. "I will get Olive the help she needs to get better, and then it is your choice to stay or leave." A warm breeze picked up, ruffling Kasdeya's cream colored pelt.
"No one will judge you for your past here, least of all myself. Dayclan is a much warmer, welcoming place, and as a second-in-command I'm offering you our protection for as long as you need it." It was the least she could do, the smallest of the reparations she had begun to make for those she had hurt in the past. Funny, how these siblings were running from cats who she used to be like, and could find refuge among cats she wanted so desperately to be like. This limbo, this dance between worlds, gave her a headache.

Nico stepped forward, gazing up at the she-cat with an even gaze, "Please, I do not know how this DayClan operates but of all cats in this clan to teach me their ways I hope personally that it is you who does. Either way Olive and I forfeited our birthnames the moment we turned our back on Primal Instinct and it is our hope we may turn away our kittypet names for new identities now that we found a new home."
Olive smiled kindly towards her brother, "Nico, if you are asking a stranger we just met to rename us you might get something pretty ridiculous," she couldn't help but tease, the she-cat finally showing her age a bit.
The two cats were just past the typical age to be made apprentices, they weren't very old and it was amazing the distance they were from their former home despite it all.
"Still, I would rather get a new name that matches my personality," he spoke, batting his sister's ear with a sheathed paw.
A new name. It was far from unusual- Green had become Glowstar, Phantom had become Goldenkit. Names held power, and the changing of a name was a highly symbolic act of shedding the past and stepping into the future. Perhaps it was why Kasdeya had retained her original birth name, despite having lived in Dayclan for over half a year. Moving on was harder for some, and she had been set in her ways by the time she had left the League.
Kasdeya looked away as he gave her the subtle compliment of wanting her to both teach them Dayclan's ways and rename them. She felt far from qualified to do either, and to see the faint respect in his gaze made her heart squeeze painfully. But after a long moment she looked back, summoning her approximation of a smile.
"I would be glad to teach you our ways, and give a new name," she told the younger cats. "Would you like a traditional clan name, and do you have anything in nature you connect to particularly?"
[if you want kasdeya to go through with the naming and give a specific name, let me know cx]
