Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The emissaries had guided Brakewings and Foxtrotter up to the Spirit Glen, this would be the last time they would be able to see their Spirit Guides. During this time they could choose to walk into StarClan or the Dark Forest, however they would have to leave before dawn broke through the skies. Once dawn passed their sixth sense would evaporate.
The Spirit Glen was always guarded, the average cat could never simply enter, but every graduating apprentice was allowed access once, this was their time. The portal to the spirit realm lied in the circular stone arch way at the center, it was now or never to enter the Spirit Realm and choose which side of the afterlife to visit.
Foxtrotter, his chest swelling with pride and honor, padded into the Spirit Glen. He could almost hear his heart pounding in his chest and wondered if anyone else could hear it beating out of his chest. There was a small hurt in his heart at knowing that this was the last time he could see the spirit cats. He wondered how hard it would be to leave them behind. He tried to push the thought away. This was a huge honor and every apprentice looked forward to this moment.
Padding in, he glanced around. Would Starclan come see him? What if the Dark Forest met with him instead? Panic began to rise but he quickly forced it down. He wasnt evil. He thought of himself as a noble cat and one who may one day be honorable.
He had grown to rely on Yellowmoon so much, he was at a loss for what to do without her. How was he supposed to fulfill his destiny alone? Was there still time, still a need, or had the moment passed? He was happy to be a warrior, he really was, he was just scared, scared that he had chosen wrong, and evil would come because of it.
Brakewings turned to ask Lioningsnarl a question but the emissary was gone, so he took a deep breath and entered the glen behind Foxtrotter. He sought it the familiar darkness of the stars he had always met his mentor within. “Yellowmoon?”
There were quite a few StarClan cats waiting for Foxtrotter, many weren't even familiar to him, but had simply come to congratulate the newly made warrior. After all it wasn't everyday StarClan was visited by a living cat that was an average warrior. Most of the time they had to act regal and all knowing towards the leaders and medicine cats, but around a warrior it felt more comforting and less serious, but more celebratory.
"You've done well," Creekcress purred, the silvery tom exited from the crowd of spirit guides to look Foxtrotter up and down before nodding, "You might even be stronger than Windchaser someday," He smirked.
Yellowmoon formed behind Brakewings before he could even enter the arch, "Wait!" she called out to him before he could enter, "Brakewings," She purred, "You know, I think that sounds like a beautiful name for a medicine cat, don't you?" She said recomposing herself, "Oh, you haven't heard yet? I've talked to the other medicine cats and I think we all agree Vixenpaw was... Mmm. Unfit, you, you were always the better choice," She said, her voice sly and whispery soft as her fluffy white fur ran past his, "So we've decided you should be training next to Flyingcolors," she whispered directly into his ear, her breath surprisingly ice cold as she stepped back, anticipating his excitement.
His gaze flashed with surprise as he turned back to look at her, but then a warm smile dawned on his features. He was glad to see her again; she always made him proud of who he was, and excited for the future. And she was right, it was a good name, wasn't it? Dragonflies weren't fighters or hunters. It was the name of a healer. He shifted, still unhappy to hear her talk ill of his sister, even if he could see where she was coming from. "Is it- is it finally time?" He had tried to put off hurting her, but he knew it had to happen eventually.
"Oh Brakewings," Yellowmoon said coming in beside him as if comforting a child, "StarClan wanted things to go down gently with Vixenpaw, but, unfortunately fate must have agreed with us."
Her head pressed into his comfortingly, "I'm so sorry Brakewings, she went to Moon Creek to receive her medicine cat name and she did, Vixendew, but she never awoke into the land of the living again. She was killed," She whispered the last bit into his ear before squeezing up to him again in a little hug and saying, "It's your time Brakewings, everything happens for a reason and well. Vixendew told me herself that while she's saddened of her death she understands this was always your destiny. She wants you to have this, we all do. Be strong Brakewings, please, don't go into the Spirit Glen, if you do you won't be able to see me anymore. If we just wait till dawn your sight will be sealed into seeing me for- well forever," She smiled, her yellow reflective gaze waiting intensely for Brakewing's choice in staying or going.
"What?" he whispered in disbelief, horror and disbelief mingling in his chest as he shook his head slowly, trying to deny it, to chase her words away. Then, with a strangled sob, he buried himself in her thick fur, suddenly desperate for her support as everything was falling apart. He knew this day might come but there had always been a part of him that believed he would find a way to do this without her dying, that he could save his sister and everyone else, because she might be their doom but she was also his sister and she couldn't help it, she couldn't help that the wrong cat had been chosen for medicine cat. It wasn't her fault but now she had paid the price, he hadn't stopped it, and he wasn't sure he would ever forgive himself.
Sniffing, Brakewings pulled back slightly to look up at his mentor. She was all he had now, the only cat he could trust. "Are.... are you sure? Everyone told me we have to go in, to say goodbye," he murmured bleakly, staring at the glen, entranced and afraid. "I don't want to stop seeing you, but what happens if I don't? What if they know and they stop me?" His throat thickened. Would something bad happen? He trusted Yellowmoon with his life, but he feared she might not know the repercussions of staying with him.
"Oh, there there," Yellowmoon cooed and perhaps for once meant it, as she too had loved her siblings even if some of them were idiotic. She raised Brakewing's chin with her paw, "I'm all you have now Brakewings, of course they'll make an exception. If I went away how could I guide you to take such good care of DayClan and all the lovely cats inside of it? I always knew you were special, I believed in you all along, nothing in the world can separate us, ever. I'll always be there with you, Brakewings, even when you think I'm not, never feel alone," She murmured quietly, her yellow eyes wandered slightly, wondering if an emissary could be listening.
"Let's stay here a moment longer and get acquainted with where we'll be working from here on out and don't even worry. I'm about to send Flyingcolors a sign that you're her new medicine cat apprentice, as any StarClan cat would do, of course," Yellowmoon purred.
He relaxed, his fur smoothing. She was right. He was still in shock, but there would be time for grieving later; he had to focus first. Brakewings closed his eyes and bent his head away from her, breathing harsh and forced until it evened and slowed and he was in control again. With a last sniff he straightened up and turned back to Yellowmoon. "You're right, of course," he murmured, feeling a little guilty he had ever doubted her. She would have told him if something was dangerous; they both knew he needed her.
"Will she accept it? If Vixenpaw just died, she might not want another apprentice yet..."
"She'll die to have you," Yellowmoon smiled, a smirk twitching at the corner of her lip, "And won't you look remarkable, she'll see your sister in the way you work and the blood that you share with her. It's practically an obligation, but not just that, it's your destiny, Brakewings. You can trust in that."
Brakewings nodded slowly. "It's my destiny," he repeated solemnly, holding his ginger head higher. "I'll make sure I'm a good medicine cat, Yellowmoon. For Vixenpaw, and for everyone else. With you training me, how could I not?" The compliment was given with a smile, but he wasn't trying to flatter her; he just genuinely believed her training left him no choice but to excel. "Will I still be able to see you? Not only when I sleep?"
"Yes, you will be seeing a lot more of me, Brakewings. You will even be receiving a body guard, there will be many sweet faces in your future that are seeping with corruption behind their happy plastered on smiles. Your body guard will be in charge of ridding you of these negative influences, but for now that body guard has some training to go," Yellowmoon explained, her grey tail swept underneath his chin, "Let's get you acquainted with things, shall we?"

Foxtrotter stared in amazement at the gathered star pelted spirits. He was relieved to have been chosen to see the Starclan cats and not the Dark Forest. Hopefully that meant he had a noble heart. He felt warm under his pelt at the praise. "I dont know about that. Shes pretty fierce. She has something I dont. She has bravery and determination. She will leap into battle without thinking. I'm a little more practical," he chuckled. "But I accept the compliment, thank you." He dipped his head respectfully.
