Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. Fuzzyheart was casually walking through Absum Lux. It was a normal day at a normal time at a normal afternoon. That was until he noticed something odd... It was orange, black spotted, oh no wait that was an orange ladybug. He hummed and continued on his path, the large bengal cat gave little mind to the odd scent in the air. That was until he walked straight into another cat. His claws instantly unsheathed despite it being his fault for walking into someone, "Hey what's your problem!?" He hissed lowly.
Mittens blinked slowly, leisurely, carefully, and with just a teensy tiny hint of trepidation. "Meow?" she asked, because really, what was it with everyone hissing all the time. They weren't snakes. At least, they weren't the last time she checked. Admittedly, it had been a while since she'd last felt she needed to make sure, so ya know, maybe it was due for another. "Hiss," Mittens said, and— Yup. Still not a snake. That was the least snake-like thing she's heard all day. "Hissss," she said again, as if it would somehow change its tune. But nope. Still not a snake.
Fuzzyheart blinked a few times as he came face to face with Mittens, his long time foe. Back when his mother was Nemesis they had attacked DayClan, however he was thwarted by Mittens, savior of cat kind who pelted a rock at him and knocked him out. Another time she moved boulders down the hill which blocked him from helping the league battle DayClan. To this day he was still certain if he had gotten there in time DayClan would not have been able to retreat. Now staring Mittens in the eyes he realized this was a moment for redemption. A slow grin sprawled across his lips, "Heyyy Mittens," He said in the least convincing pleasant tone possible, "Remember me?"
"Hiss," Mittens said again because it was surprisingly fun. "HisSSsss." Ooh. That one almost sounded like a snake. Maybe she'd need to revise her previous thoughts on that. If cats turned into snakes...
Mittens blinked, tilted her head, and squinted at Fuzzyheart. He looked... almost familiar? Or well, about as familiar as a dog looked to a beetle. They all looked the same, really. So maybe he wasn't familiar whatsoever. Maybe he was her long lost cousin she hadn't seen in years and now finally showed up to whisk her away to a family reunion that she couldn't care less about. Or maybe he was a snake. "Hiss," Mittens decided, wondering what life would be like as a snake. And then for good measure added, "Hiss."
Fuzzyheart scoffed, wow, now she was mocking him. Mocking him right to his face! Seriously? Was he not even threatening anymore, sure he had a name like Fuzzyheart now, but was the missing eye, scars, and muscular body not enough? The more he stared at her, listening to her hiss he began to realize that maybe she was actually trying to threaten him. He was almost tempted to start a hissing contest to see who could hiss the loudest, but he wasn't childish, he was above this and he'd handle this with dignity.
"YOU THREW A ROCK AT MY HEAD YOU ORANGE FUZZ BALL WEIRDO! I WANT AN APOLOGY!" He screamed in her face, possibly causing her to go deaf.
Mittens took a step back, eyes wide. Whoa. Whoa whoa whoa. Hang on a sec. Was she missing something here? Sure she couldn't understand half of what these natives said, but there should've been some warning before going from casual speaking tone of voice to ABSOLUTE SCREAMING AND I'M GONNA MURDER YOU vibes. "Meow?" she said, giving up her snakey dreams for another day. "Me—" She paused, an epiphany hitting her. Oh. Ooh. That's what he wanted. Gotcha. She could scream too, ya know. "MEOW!! MEOW MEOW MEOW!" Ha! She sat back smugly. Beat that!
Something in Fuzzyheart's mind snapped. She could sit there and PRETEND to be some concussed delusional cat, but he wasn't falling for it. Deep inside Mitten's was a diabolical mastermind who acted stupid so people would let their guards down. Acted like she couldn't understand them so people would say whatever they wanted in front of her. He maybe the only cat smart enough to see through her. But he never mistook a fellow villain, Mittens had a heart of black and if she thought she was winning this than she was wrong. He'd do this the ol' fashion way. With that Fuzzyheart leapt at Mittens with another extraordinary hiss.
Somehow, Mittens got the ability to understand things written in narrative. 'Cause wow. Was she just insulted. Concussed? Her? Sure she got hit in the head that one time, but c'mon, she's not concussed. It would've taken significantly more trauma to cause a concussion. She'd take the delusional remark. That seemed like an apt term, especially since everyone always seemed so intent on labeling things they couldn't understand. But that was because normal people didn't seem to realize just how absolutely fascinating the world was. Like butterflies. Just how did they get butter to fly? See? Nature would always be a miracle.
But Mittens, like the mature, thoughtful cat she was, decided to forgive this strange cat for wounding her so insultingly and deigned to humor this cat with his need to hiss. "HISSS," she said, and contemplated how her life became this way.
Fuzzyheart tackled Mittens to the ground, his claws over her throat and likely would have dashed them right through her neck until he heard her hiss, but not like a cat like a snake. His lip quivered slightly before he burst out laughing, "Wow, okay. Y'know you're a real weirdo, but hey, you're missions accomplished. I won't kill you, can't take you seriously when you act like this, but be warned. I KNOW your true identity is a villainous and you can pretend to be whoever you want, but I see right through you, got it?
Wow. Mittens just had emotional whiplash right there. What. The. Heck. What was even going on? This guy goes from casual, 'Hey, how you doin'?' to screaming bloody murder to hissing and now he's laughing in her face as if she were the weird one. Was everyone in this godforsaken place absolutely insane?
So Mittens did what any normal cat would do when faced with a complete lunatic laughing and spraying spittle all over her face. She kicked him. Hard. And just for good measure, she whacked him over the head with a convenient stick.
Gotta do what she could to keep the creeps away, ya know?
Fuzzyheart once again, was knocked out by Mittens and honestly, he didn't even see it coming. Once again, Mittens had made him lessen his guard and now he was on the ground, knocked out by some orange black weirdo. This was literally what happened to him last time, in the last moments before everything went dark he couldn't help, but question his life choices.
"Whoaaaaa."
"Nice aim Mittens," Lucistic said with a wide grin.
It was him... Again. Mittens translator that appeared to have nothing better to do, but follow her around.
Mittens pinned Lucistic with an unimpressed look. "Meow," she greeted him coolly. Where was he when she was getting molested by a weirdo? Just watching from the sidelines and enjoying the show? God. Could she not have one relaxing day without something crazy happening? "Meow meow meow," she scolded. 'Cause really, what happened to loyalty? To friendship? Not that they were friends. Or even acquaintances. In fact, she didn't even know anything about him except his name.
"Mew meow moew meow," Lucistic replied back, of course his Woem was a bit broken. But he was reassuring Mittens that Fuzzyheart wasn't a threat.
He rolled his shoulders back listening to the crack before letting out a satisfied ah noise before smiling pleasantly at her, "Now then, shall we burn down the woods or frolic like bumble bees?" He teased, knowing that she could only understand so much outside of Woem. He was hoping she'd repeat back one of them and he'd get her to actually burn something or skip around like a lunatic.
He wanted to what now? Turn some soot and polish some stumps of reeds? Mittens paused, then sighed. "... Meow," she assented. Whatever, man. Her day couldn't get any more weird. Might as well do what she could, right? And if she got to get some new reeds for her collection, all the better. She'd been looking for some nice fresh reeds for a while now. For some reason all the ones she collected wilted after a while.
Lucistic flicked some dirt on her chest fur before racing off, "You're no fuuuun," He said knowing he couldn't hurt her feelings if she didn't understand him before pausing and looking back at her to follow. Only he seemed to be at his destination. At the top of the hill he found an ant hill and was peering into the top of it with interest. His tail beckoned her once again, "MEOWWWWWW!!" He emphasized which translated to GET YOUR WIGGLY DIMPLES OVER HERE.
Mittens wondered if she should be insulted. But at the same time, Lucistic seemed to always be this way, and it wasn't like she even had wiggly dimples. Or even dimples for that matter. Or wiggles. She supposed her fur did get kinda curly sometimes, but she wouldn't call it wiggly by any means. But whatever. Mittens followed after Lucistic at a more sedate place, and stared at the ant hill. Ew. Yeah. No thanks, man. She said as much to him. "Meow meow," she said. Then watched as the ants dragged a still wiggling praying mantis into the hole. "Meow," she pointed out. 'Cause wow, who knew ants had sacrificial rituals.
He had to agree, sacrificing was so weird, who knew ants were into that kind of thing. Maybe there were ant clans out there and this one was the evil one... What if this one was evil. His head raised up a bit higher, "Meow?" He asked wondering if Mittens thought that there could be evil ant clans too. Maybe they should do something, help save the ant clans by being the mighty giants to cleanse the lands of sinister impurities.
Evil ant clans? Now that was a thought to cherish. What if they could somehow harness their corrupted tendencies and turn them towards— Mittens blinked at the look in Lucistic's eyes. Oh. He wanted to do one of those. Well, Mittens hadn't committed arson in quite a while. Today was as good of a day as any. "Meow meow meow," she told him, 'cause sure. Killing off an ant clan for the good of other ant clans sounded fun. And who knows, maybe they'd be hailed as gods and be given tribute in the form of praying mantises. Hopefully still living. That way they could have praying mantis races and bet on them with catnip.
Lucistic walked off and came back with some dry leaves and twigs and gave Mittens a nod. Not many knew about the fire of 2009. Many two-legs were lost in the blaze, he could still hear the faint echo of kits crying for their mothers that would never save them in time. Some called it the biggest devastation of the years, others called it a blast. People who thought the ladder were the only people worth listening to though. Point being, Mittens knew what to do, she knew fire, she knew how to damage a civilization. It all came down to this one moment in time, the moment where they destroyed the evil ant clan. He wiped a tear from his eye, he never thought he'd see the day that they would destroy an evil empire, but here it was. A true testament to their friendship.
Mittens watched the proceedings with narrowed eyes. She could almost hear Lucistic's monologue already, and... was that a tear in his eye? What. You know what. It's better not to ask. Mittens took the offered twigs with a nod and set fire to this ant hill. It burst into flames. But since it was puny, it wasn't all that impressive. It was like a two inch flame. Still, there were ants streaming away from it in droves. At least the ones that were still alive. There were others in there, probably being cooked to a crisp. And somewhere, beneath all that dirt, lay the evil ant queen. May her reign of terror end today. Mittens blinked. Wow. That sounded way too dramatic. "Meow?" Mittens asked Lucistic. Was he satisfied now? Was this everyone he'd ever wanted?
