A stiff breeze blew through the clearing ruffling the leaves and dirt and sending a soft echo through the air, the sun in the sky was framed with dots of white clouds as it continued its journey higher. Soon the clearing was no longer filled with the soft sounds of sleep but rather light paw steps as cats began their routines, apprentices buzzed with excitement as they waited to leave on their first patrols while other prepared for a day of training with their mentors. Life outside of the camp had begun to flutter with activity as well, birds began singing and prey was waking from it's peaceful slumber.

It was wonderful, the sounds of nature and the voices of friends, wonderful to most anyway but not to one kit. Silence. That was the world he lived in. He would never know the joy of hearing praise or the sting of criticism, he often wondered why he had been born with one of his most important senses missing and prayed to the Moon God for an answer he never would receive.

Frozenkit is his name, a kind and compassionate tom. Though some emotions can only run so deep, below his surface kept hidden from those around him this tom fights daily with depression. Frozenkit most often has a smile on his face trying his best to keep the secret of his feeling hidden underneath a positive attitude. Despite the swirling sadness that threatens to swallow him whole.

The tom shook his head clearing it of the thoughts, he could not risk letting his sadness seep through with so many cats around to see him. He let his gaze pass over the clearing taking note of the cats who crossed his vision, he could not hear the words shared between them but he could easily point out which cats got along the best, those with close friendships and cats who did not get along all too well. Without his hearing his vision was sharper and so he observed the things around him the things he did not need to hear.

Pushing himself to his paws Frozenkit left his place outside of the nursery and began to make his way to the center of the clearing, slipping aside as cats passed him in either direction. The suns rays had begun to grow stronger warming his pelt as it reached its highest point and as he let the feeling wash over him he looked to the blue sky wondering what the day would have in store for him.
