Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Speckledkit tumbled out of the nursery, his tail lifted in excitement. The morning sun was already promising a hot day as it slowly peaked the horizon, chasing away the darkness of the night. Speckledkit was close to becoming an apprentice, now, and he couldn't wait. It was any day now. The rest of the camp was recovering from the mind sickness that deprived them of sleep for so long. He had a few nightmares during the sickness but it had gone away with the herb that was found to cure it. Now, in a bright and happy mood, he pranced around camp, trying to decide what trouble he should cause today.
If there was any warrior that would be the perfect cat for Specklekit to wander into if he was looking for trouble, it was Odysseyfright. It was hard to say he was a trouble-maker, per say, but, at the same time, it was hard to say that the adventerous tom wasn't. He would smile widely at such accusations that he liked to cause mischief, and say that all great adventure has to start somewhere. he had no intention on living a vanilla, cut and dry life, so if that meant trouble often followed three steps behind him, so be it.
"You look like you're in a great mood, Specklekit," the tom purred as the kitten pranced near by him. It was an observation made with a large, lopsided grin on his face.
Speckledkit skitted to a halt beside the warrior and swung his spotted face toward him, his green eyes wide with mischief. "Oh! Hello, Odysseyflight!" He greeted the Summerclan warrior with an ornery twitch of his whiskers. "I am in a pleasant mood, actually!"
His grin grew even more as the kitten responded. God, sometimes he wished being that small, with the whole rest of his life out in front of him. Of course, he wasn't that old. He had been promoted to warrior six moons ago, so perhaps he wasn't that young, but he, too, probably had most of the rest of his life laid out in front of him.
"And why might that be?" the tom meowed in a sing songy tone. "What's so good about today to be in such a pleasant mood?" It was clearly a tease, one that he would use to see if the little dude was up for some adventure.
"Well...I know a she-cat that used to kit-sit me and I'm thinking about putting a spider in her nest" he purred, flicking his tail. "Will you help me?" He wasn't sure what Odysseyflight would say but by the look the warrior was giving him, he hoped the older tom would agree.
He let out a feigned gasp. "Me? Help you put a spider in a poor she-cats nest? Why, I never!" He couldn't even keep his tone even the whole time, and by the time he got to the word never, his eyes were lit up and a purr was echoing in his chest. This was the kind of kitten that he liked, the adventerous kind. The kind that reminded him of his own youth.
"Between you and me, she probably deserves it," he whispered to him with a wink. "Do you already have a spider? Or shall we look for one?"
He purred in return. Honestly, Pebblefur was probably the sweetest she-cat he had ever known but he knew she would be able to take a joke. He used to pull pranks on her a lot. "I haven't gotten one, yet! So we will need to find one!" He was really excited; his green eyes beaming with mischief. He never would have thought a full grown warrior would want to hang out with him. This was great!
"Okay!" he said cheerfully. Honestly, the kittens were one of the only reasons he stuck around here. It wasn't that he didn't like SummerClan, it was a home he had to make when his partner was dying, and everyone had been so kind, but it lacked the adventure he craved. Kittens could find adventure in everything. "I think I know a perfect spot to find them. I once found a daddy long legs behind the medicine den! There's probably more there!" he continued, tone amused at the thought. His voice then dropped low. "But, you're gonna have to be the one to pick it up. Between you and me, spiders are kinda yucky."
Speckledkit purred, "Awe, I thought you would be the one picking up the spider for me!" He teased, nudging the warrior with his shoulder. As he padded along side Odysseyflight, he had realized how much Speckledkit had grown. He noticed that he was a little over half the size of the Summerclan warrior. He tried to stand taller as he made his way over to the medicine den, hoping to impress Odysseyflight. When they reached the medicine den, Speckledkit slid behind it where Oddysseyflight had spotted the daddy long leg. As he rounded it, he noticed on creeping along the back of the den. Perfect! He thought as he gently picked the spider up by its legs with his jaw. He had to force himself not to flinch as the spider tried to climb up his nose. He didn't want Oddysseyflight to think he was a little kit. He carried it back over to the warrior, the spider hanging from his jaws, desperately trying to escape them. "Hopefully the spider stays in the nest long enough for Pebblefur to find it" he mumbled through gritted teeth. Pebblefur had gone out hunting a little while ago, and knowing her, she would be back any time now to take a nap.
"Hate to disappoint ya, buddy," he meowed before ruffling the tom kit's head furs. He then watched the kitten run off to the medicine cat's den. He stayed a few foot falls behind him, close enough that he was part of the adventure, but far enough that the spider wouldn't touch him. He sort of gagged a little on the inside when it tried to crawl up Speckledkit's nose. I would just have to die, Odysseyfright thought to himself with a shudder, although the grin never left his face. When the tom kit spoke again, he nodded. "Maybe if we dig into the moss a little bit, we could trap it in there?" he thought out loud, before tipping his head. "Although that might make it so she squishes him before realizing he's in there, so that might not be the most ideal thing." He paused a moment, thinking. "And we'd better be covert about it. We wouldn't want someone to snitch on us, eh?" Well, they probably should have had this conversation before he caught the spider, but hey, you win some you lose some.
Oddysseyflight was right. Panic began to rise inside him as he tried to think of an efficient way of doing this prank. He really didnt think this one through and the spider was tickling his nose and he had to hold back a sneeze. Maybe if they waited until Pebblefur got here and quickly snuck the spider into her nest? That would work wouldnt it?
Just as luck would have it, familiar spotted fur slipped through the camp entrance, two mice and a squirrel hanging from her jaws. She hadnt noticed Speckledkit and Oddysseyflight, yet, as she made her way over to the fresh-kill pile.
"Welp, its now or never" Speckledkit mumbled. He knew Pebblefur all too well. She would go over to the fresh-kill pile, drop her prey, choose one for herself, and go to her nest. "Oddysseyflight, will you distract her while I sneak into the den?"
