The sun slid down the sky like a raindrop on the fronds that surrounded her oversized ebony paws. It cast shadows between each long leaf that gave the appearance of tabby markings across her deformed face. She closed her olive eyes slowly, for once allowing herself to drift away in her thoughts like a log in the river. Not much time had passed since Riverstar's fall from glory and Chimerastar's rise to leadership in Waterclan. She was actually surprised when her unlikely friend chose her to be the deputy. If only he knew just how much that meant to her... Nah, she'd never let him have that kind of power. Tuskblood snorted at the thought and shifted her weight where she was lying on her side. The scents of the waterfall and reeds caught in her nose and she almost--almost-- smiled. It reminded her of her original home. The voices of her ancestors whispered in her ear, filling her soul with strength. Yet, it also brought a wave of grief. She had left her only family behind. She knew this is where she was destined to be, but the blood bonds she had were stretched now. She would never tell a soul, but a part of her felt like a burr among daisies. Feeling a connection with her new clan would take time, but she had decided it was worth it. Her destiny was here.
Behind the waterfall a small pool was there within the cavern. It had gentle ripples, but was rather shallow and calm. Often times cats found their drinking water there, as well as the area kits liked to play. A loud giggle drifted from the area, and Meadowkit could be seen splashing away. Alone.

Tuskblood rose to her paws after deciding she had spent far too much time wallowing in her self-pity. That was no way for a cat to live. Although, she was stuck with one of those kinds of cats every day of her life now. It didn’t bother her much. She shook out her thick coat, but it didn’t help much. Reeds loved to cling to her coat like annoying kits. Speaking of kits, as she made her way to the waterfall, she could hear the small voice of one in the pool. Just one? That was odd. She tucked behind the rushing water and stepped into the cavern that rested behind it, causing ripples in the pool. “Meadowkit? That’s your name right?” She greeted the small kit, her voice gruff but not unkind.
She was a kit of pure innocence. She did not see ugly, nor did she see beauty. Instead, she saw cats for who they were. As she looked up to the tusked cat, she smiled brightly. “Yes, that’s me! How did you know?” Her nose twitched as she took in the she-cat’s scent, water dripping from her whiskers. Meadowkit wiggled her tail and pounced in the water, sending a splash everywhere. She was only in water a little deeper than her paws.
