Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
( Set the day before Chimerahunt leaves to get his lives. Any relatives of Phoenix who weren't already present for the battle have been gathered. )
If all the family hadn't been in WaterClan before, they were now. From SunClan, SummerClan, WaterClan... even twolegplace, they came. Soon, they'd all be back in their homes, whatever they'd made of it, but for today, they were a family. By now, Phoenixriver had kits, grandkits. Her son was leader, and the majority of those present had fought to make sure that WaterClan would return to good paws.
The silver tabby, gray with age but as bright as ever. Still, there was a sort of worry among the rest of them. The former leader's health had declined since the battle, and now, she didn't look too well. Perhaps that also had something to do with the reunion. Even so, she refused to make this a sad sort of day. They sat around the edge of the waterfall, prey in paw, to catch up on what they missed. It had been too long, far too long, since they'd all been there to speak with one another, and even now, one could look and see who was missing. Things had changed greatly since the times when Phoenixriver had led the clan, but she was determined to end on a high note.
"I remember when you were a kit, Rustyheart." She spoke, her voice a chuckle as she began a story about her rather irritable daughter. "You were always so determined to do things all on your own, without any help. One time, Lightningswift and I were looking for you all over the place, and where do I find you? Well right here, swimming in the waterfall's pool, looking as smug as ever to prove that you learned to do it all on your own!" She hadn't been the best of parents.. to any of her kits. Changed the name of one one in her eldest litter due to her own grief about an injury, babied the youngest litter to the point of not letting them even live their lives. And the ones in between, she perhaps hadn't paid as much attention to as she should have. They'd all turned out alright though, apparently despite her best efforts.
Landon watched his mother with soft eyes, his tail curled around the son that sat between his forelegs, watching his grandmother with quiet curiosity. Cygnus had never met most of these cats and he wanted to see them all, but he knew it wasn't a time for talking, just for listening. The little kit nestled deeper into his father's dark fur, content to just be here, seeing the warmth in the family that reminded him of his own back in twolegplace. Saltpile sat at her father's side as well, a rumble of laughter in her jaws as she glanced at Rustyheart. She could easily picture her aunt doing something like that.
Coralreef stood by her uncle Wyverndelirium, who tentatively nudged Tinybreath and whispered, "And where were you? Right at her side?"
His shoulders hunched, he sat apart from his siblings, chin resting on his forepaws. The deputy still struggled to believe his whole family was here, reunited, that he was here again, and... that Violetstar was not. The insufferable agony of her loss had crippled him, stripped away the joy of returning home, and all of it exhausted him, the stress and the loss and the confusion and the fleeting relief that his mother had returned. Chimerahunt's eye was half-closed, like he was nearly asleep, but he was listening; he was listening, though every memory made his heart ache as he fought back tears.
Tinybreath let out an offended snort in reply, playfully nudging Coralreef back with her shoulder. "Heh, somewhat. I managed to sneak out to the waterfall with her before I finally chickened out, I ended up only wading to my knees. But I managed to beat her later on; I snuck out to the old Brookclan border." Thinking back to when she was a kit, the small she-cat wasn't sure whether to laugh or be embarrassed by her past actions and attitude. At the time, she had been blinded by her own anger at being treated as fragile by her parents and older siblings. However, hindsight made it obnoxiously clear just how much her mother and father had done to make sure she and Rustyheart could survive, even if it wasn't exactly living. "Lightningswift was realllllly mad after that one," She let out a soft giggle, before bending down and pulling Slipkit in close with her tail. "Let's hope you never turn out like me, little princess."
The fluffy grey kit squirmed in her aunt's grasp for a few seconds until she finally gave up, leaning into the embrace with a loud purr before she was let go. Her curious green eyes scanned the faces of the cats around her; both familiar and strangers, but all still family. Being around them made her feel warm and safe, and happy. But every so often Slipkit's gaze would meet one of the strangers', and almost immediately she would see their eyes glaze over with muted sadness. As she made her way across the clearing to settle next to her cousin Oceanscent, she frowned to herself. Did she really look so much like her mother?
Oceanscent nearly didn't notice his little cousin sitting down beside him, absentmindedly resting his ginger tail on her shoulders while he split his attention between watching his grandmother and his father. He was hoping that the atmosphere would start getting more cheerful now that his father was going to be the new leader, but he seemed just as moody as usual.
Orion looked like he was only paying half attention, seeming to be more interested in batting at his older half-brother Steepfall's tail, while the aforementioned tom would casually glance behind him with exasperated amusement. However, the tom kit was actually listening very closely, interested to learn more about these new family members around him. He paused, looking up at his mother Urania, the cream tabby kittypet leaning into Ladon's shoulder and looking somewhat uncomfortable, as if she wasn't sure of her place here. Despite his young age, he was smart enough to realize that both he and his mother hadn't expected just how extensive this Waterclan family was, compared to their small and cozy family in their twoleg den.

She sat alone, for once. Usually the life of any party, it was odd to see the grey she-cat look solemn. Her eyes drifted lonesomely between each family member until they rested on Chimerahunt. She paused, looked down, and continued on with her silence. Squirrelpool was more battered than before. The past moon of watching her mate pledge allegiance to the cat that insulted her family and Violetstar while he abused her mentally had left her a shell of a cat. She was sure to return to her normal self, but now was not that time. Her eyes moved from their fixed position on her paws to Phoenixstar as she spoke. What an honorable cat. If only I ended up like her. She thought gloomily and shifted her weight to get in a more comfortable position. Squirrelpool had never thought about being pregnant before. She wanted to live and fight for her clan for a bit longer before thinking of kits. Well, now she was stuck.
Coralreef laughed. "BrookClan! You have more guts than I thought," she mewed with an admiring purr. "I would never have made it that far. I was too busy playing with Mom, 'til she was gone away."
Chim felt his former apprentice's glance and looked back at her, hard and resolute, before refusing to meet her gaze again and turning his back slightly. His cousin had ran off with some tom, some rogue that had supported Riverwolf when he overthrew Violetstar, and that was all he needed to know to be angry with Squirrelpool. He didn't understand how she have betrayed her clan like that and he had no desire to find out.
Landon leaned against Urania and murmured softly in her ear "should we do something?" as he nodded toward the lonely queen. It felt wrong to have their family gather and leave Squirrelpool sitting all on her own, her littermates and parents passed on.

A sharp pain pierced through her chest. She was fully aware of the earned glare she received. I deserved that. Her eyes trailed back to Phoenixstar, emotionless. Never had she felt so distant from the family that had raised her.
