Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
We seem to have dropped the ball in concerns to Full Moon Clan Gatherings. Which is understandable, considering that a lot of the time we don't get too many replies on them, or even get all of the clans there. And I don't think we've ever done a single Medicine Cat Gathering on this site either.
Perhaps there is an easier way we could organize these gatherings to promote both activity and plot progression?
Honestly Idk fam, but the Gatherings are such an integral part of the Warriors universe, and some of my favorite Classic moments of all time have taken place at gatherings, so I really don't want to see them fall into obscurity.
The next Full Moon is scheduled for July 16. What do you guys think? I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.
Maybe separate them by clan groups? Like the mountain clans and the survival ones get their own gathering? With all the clans at one it’s gets a little hecktic to keep track of everything. Maybe making them smaller will help?

I like Paos idea of separating them by groups, Forest, survival, mountain, and then revolutionary groups. Keeps the gatherings sort of contained by the different clan group territories. I also don't know if you all do this already since I haven't yet been here for a gathering but it may help for the clan leaders to make a thread choosing certain cats from each of their clans like they do in the books and then message the RPers of the cats chosen with the link so they know ahead of time and can be prepared or inform you of whether or not they will be active at the time of the gathering. Choosing a patrol will also help keep the confusion down when posting as there wont be as much to keep track of and it will also be more exciting when a cat you have is chosen making it so others may look forward to them a little more, also it will give the cats who go a chance to talk and gossip with the cats who didn't(relaying messages and stuff) meaning a little more activity outside of the gathering as well. It is just an idea though.
Yeah, keeping them semi-permanently separated by groups would be the easiest solution, and then maybe have an all-clan gathering just a couple times per year? Like, once every season?
I also like the idea of limiting which cats can go, perhaps leaders can choose one or two cats to go per rp'er?
Another idea I had is if Leaders could decide on a plot for the Gathering ahead of time, like a secret each clan doesn't want to tell the others, potential diplomacy and/or peace agreements in the works, or classic border disputes.
Maybe every four months or so for all-the-clans gatherings? Or just twice a year? Makes it more of an annual thing that allows them to catch up with the other clans.
I like the idea too. It could be luck of the draw. And the role players get a week or two in advance to agree to being picked. (In case someone doesn’t want to or doesn’t have the time or whatever the case may be). Maybe 10-15 cats get picked since most clans have a lot of cats, with those cats come from warriors, apprentices and elders. Not including the leaders, deputies or medicine cats in the number that go.
I like the theme for the gatherings too. It’s help in some plots to get things going at gatherings. To be able to make allies that way or even enemies. It also gives all the role players a better chance (if the ones who go to the gatherings go back and gossip) to know who’s allied with who and what not. It’s actually help with the plot I’m doing (maybe, I think.)
Fallclan leader, nightclan MCA and a clumsy disaster xD

One or two cats per RPer could work, it will keep things from getting too chaotic with everyone bringing in too many cats to keep up with.
All-clan gathering every three months would probably work, that's four per year so it evens out pretty well.
Having a plan/plot ahead of time would help to keep things on track, allow the RPers to let their cats mingle and then get to business. a similar thing could be done with the all-clan gathering though they would probably need to be organized a bit more since there will be more people posting.
Maybe we can plan for one of the gatherings to fail, come up with something that drives the leaders to argue creating hostility from their clans and maybe a fight breaks out(that could stir up a lot of interest making people want to be active for it so they can be there)
So basically we've tried to do this multiple times in the past. Site wide plots were meant to be every season. Clan leaders were responsible for rotating turns on who makes gatherings. Sweet simple.
Only clan leaders would leave and not tell their deputies it was their turn to make a gathering or people got distracted by real life. Or they would make the gathering, but didn't inform anyone or there was very little turn out with maybe one in a half clans attending. (Because people typically wait for the leader or deputy to arrive to add their cats to a gathering and if the two roleplayers are on vacation or something we don't usually have our cats go AWOL and attend the gathering without their leader)
I make site wide gatherings if I feel there's a good plot to be done with it or it's been two months since we've had one last. In this case we're having a site wide gathering July 16th. The site wide gathering might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is literally the only consistent gathering on Classic that will show up at least every season. This way at least everyone has the chance to participate.
While I really want to be like, "YEAH LET'S DO THIS!!!" No staff member on this site has any control over clan group gatherings. It's basically a team effort and if the leaders aren't on the same page it's just not gonna work out. For instance Forest Clans will be having their own gathering coming up, but it's because we've been talking since June about it over Skype. So hopefully we can hear from some clan leaders on this thread and see if maybe we can turn this around to be a more frequent occurrence.

Yeah, I’ve been in contact with a few of the Mountain Clan leaders and I’ve decided to post a small gathering for the Mountain Clans on the 16th. If we keep it to every few months it’ll give us all a chance to have things to share and it won’t be such a drain.
As Faith noted, that's pretty much how gatherings go down. It's currently a system where any leader could opt in to make a gathering, but since we have such problems like leader leaving and not telling their dep, or just getting distracted (or having irl stuff interfere) it's not always easy to set up say a schedule of who's going to do it when.
Plus we have had leaders who don't care much for gatherings, and thus don't want to participate. I don't know if we've had many, but I've encountered at least one like this.
So while it certainly would be nice to start having gatherings on a more consistent basis, we'd need to make arrangements to make this so. And there'd have to be an agreement between all the leaders on how they'd want it to go down.
Though personally I wouldn't mind say a schedule and a list of dates for when the gatherings go up (or even just a list of when a gathering should go up just so we can easily know off hand when a gathering should happen).
I would not be down for setting roleplayer restrictions. If we were able to start getting consistent smaller gatherings going, it would just overcomplicate things by suddenly through character limitations into the mix. It'd needlessly punish say someone who has a consolidated amount of characters in one clan, vs someone who has cats in all the clans attending. For instance I have cats in NC, SC, and DC so when a gathering would happen I'd have six cats I can bring. Vs. someone who might've just preferred moonclan would just get two.
Plus leaders would have to open sign ups, we'd have to consistently be made aware and know when the gathering was happening and with how gatherings kind of tend to pop up for those of us not tracking the moon phases, some leaders wouldn't have sign ups held in time, and for them to just throw out restrictions would make it an absolute pain in the butt.
I’m with jet, I say no limitations per role player. Per clan maybe because that’d lessen the chaos some. But even then we’d still need to allow anyone to just show up without being selected that’d wanna be apart of it, and that may not even work.
Alright, that makes sense. And yeah, limitations per rp'er was just a throwaway idea, I realize that it might not totally work.
So I suppose the best way to continue is for interested leaders to start talking with each other. The site-wide gathering for the 16th is a nice place to start. Once it's done, if leaders want to continue they can message the others in their group in advance.
