Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.

The silver tabby stretched forward to sniff the herb. "So, you can probably tell what animal it was by the bite mark," she thought aloud. Rats had different teeth than snakes, so that was probably a factor that came to play in deciding what you needed to do. "But what exactly do you do for poisonous bites?" She noted that Bleakwind said it was complicated, so maybe it couldn't be helped. "Is there anything you can do?"
"There is unfortunately very little that can be done for a snake bite," Bleakwind said quietly. "We don't have an abundance of them fortunately. but that also does not mean they don't have a presence in the forest. After the earthquake a great deal has changed in NightClan's land. It's best to be cautious. If a snake bite were to happen we'd have to do everything we can to help them fend off any infections and hope it was not venomous."
Turbulentpaw nodded in agreement "Yes the best we could do is to offer supportive care. Treat the symptoms as they appear and try to manage their pain. I haven't seen a posionous snake bite yet, and with any luck perhaps we won't" with no easy answers, it was best to avoid snakes. You couldn't save everyone, no matter how hard one might try. It came as part of the job, and had been the hardest for him to accept personally.
As a medicine cat, sometimes you would be fighting against an enemy that you couldn't see. No all illnesses were easy to identify, and some were even harder to treat.

"Oh," she whispered, gaze dropping. To only hope that you're going to be okay after being bitten is a frightening thought, to know that you have no control over the situation at all and it was out of your paws. She couldn't imagine what that would feel like, for the patient nor the one trying to help them. She took a breath. "I hope we will never have to be bitten. But if it is poisonous, how do you help the pain?"
Littlekit listened to each in turn and nodded slowly, she had never seen a snake and never heard of a cat who had been bitten but that did not mean that she wouldn't in time. "The poison from a snake must take hold quickly if there isn't a lot that can be done in time, time itself seems to be against you in those situations." She began to knead the ground below her as her thoughts surfaced into words. "Have any of the other medicine cats from other clans had any luck in finding something that works well against things like that?" She looked up at Bleakwind and Turbulentpaw her eyes calm, she knew the medicine cats lived by a separate code than the rest of them so would one be willing to help another in such dire circumstances or would they simply turn their backs to them because it wasn't their problem.
"Well some of the medicine cats have been experimenting, but nothing concrete has been discovered yet. Getting bit often means death, so some cats are willing to allow their medicine cat to try something new in the hopes of recovering. The results have been mixed, but perhaps one day we will have an answer" he paused smiling slightly
"now when did you two get so smart? Most kits only know one or two of the more common herbs" a little purr rumbled in his throat. He was rather impressed with both of them. Either one would make an excellent choice in his mind, and he knew that he would have to speak with starclan in hopes that they might help him choose. "When did you become interested in healing?"
Littlekit thought for a moment before speaking again. "I guess that trying something new even if it resulted in failure is helpful because it would rule out that option, it is still a little sad though knowing they are going to die but good that their is still hope that one day something will work." Her eyes were thoughtful and glimmered slightly in the light, she knew not every cat could be saved and that as a medicine cat you simply had to do the best you could even if it meant only providing comfort until the end.
Her ears twitched at the toms question, she couldn't remember a time when she had not been drawn to the scents of the medicine cats den, even as a young kit when her mother was alive she had always been fascinated. She bugged her mother constantly about the different scents of herbs that she could smell clinging to her clanmates after their visits to the medicine cat, "I have always been interested in herbs, I usedto ask my mom about the smells when a cat would leave your den, I wanted to know what they had been given and why. I-i dream of them, the scents anyway though I can never see them but they are always surrounding me. They keep me calm." She felt a little embarrassed at admitting she had dreams about the herbs but it was the truth, she had an intense desire to know each individual plant and how they could be used.

Twighlightkit listened to Littlekit. She could practically feel her denmate's passion radiating off of her. She had to be honest with herself. She didn't even get enough time to worry about anything other than when she was allowed to act like a kit again. With her mother towering over her constantly and dictating her every move, she never got the chance. She straightened herself, eyes hardening. Twighlightkit wanted to push and prove her mother wrong. She wanted her mother to learn that she was more than a pretty face, that she could use her brain and heart to guide her. "I've always had a respect for medicine cats," she murmured. "They do things that no other cats can do well. They're put under pressure that no one else can handle." And that was simply amazing.
(We have made our decision, Spiderheart with Littlekit will be the new MCA of NightClan, but I'd be happy to have this rp continue after maybe a skip ahead to where Turbulentpaw makes his choice and then Bleakwind can take on Twilightpaw as his apprentice (he's got a strong belief in StarClan, and helped Turbulentpaw become a full fledged medicine cat when there wasn't one so Twilightpaw can still have some fun with medicines alongside Bleakwind as her mentor!)
It was going to be a hard decision, that much was becoming abundantly clear. Both were very intelligent, and he had gone quiet as they responded to each question. Bleakwind had an idea in mind as there really could only be one official Medicine cat apprentice, but he could still foster Twilightpaw's interest in herbs. The question now was, which one would have the connection to StarClan.
He pondered this for a moment. Both would be good healers, but with which one would StarClan speak most clearly to?
It felt like it had been moons since the earthquake, but starclan had finally spoken. Littlekit would become his apprentice. He knew how much Twilightkit had wanted it, but he needed to follow the path that StarClan had set him upon, and it wasn't like he couldn't share some of his knowledge with her as well.
He smiled, waiting on the two young kits to join him and Bleakwind in his den so that they could share the news with them.
"I am glad StarClan spoke so quickly, it'll be good for you to have your apprentice to help you while we move from the waterfall to our new camp," Bleakwind noted.

It had seemed like time was in moving in slow motion for Littlekit, it had not bee long since she and Twilightkit had been standing before Turbulentpaw and Bleakwind learning about the different herbs as the two reviewed thoughtfully over them and their will to follow the path of a medicine cat. Once again she was making her way to the herb scented den, they had news to share and the thought of it cause her legs to shake. Littlekit reached the entrance and paused for a moment taking a deep breath, whatever happened she knew she would never let her love of healing die she would simply nourish it differently if it came to it. Forcing her paws to move once more the white and ginger she-cat slipped into the den to see Turbulentpaw and Bleakwind waiting and suddenly she felt very small as their eyes met hers. "Hello." It was all she could manage to get out as nerves overtook her again, and she sat down to wait for Twilightkit to arrive.
Bleakwind smiled straightening up in his spot beside Turbulentsea. “How are you Littlekit?” He was thrilled that soon Burningstar would be announcing the move, but he had to keep it quiet, currently Burningstar and the black hand were checking out the new location to determine if it was safe for NightClan to make its permanent home.

Littlekit felt herself beginning to relax as Bleakwind spoke, she looked up at the tom with shinning blue eyes and smiled. "I have been good, the days are going so slow though." She voiced her earlier thoughts and wondered if it was just her who felt that way. Turning to Turbulentsea she looked at his legs and a flash of worry bore through her eyes. "How is your leg?" She knew it had been giving him issues and the thought of it not getting better felt like a thorn in her heart.
