Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Coalsplash pulled himself out of the warriors' den, the bright light of the nearly full moon lighting up his long, white fur. The tom padded out of camp without a second look, his heart heavy. It had been over a year since he had lost his best friend, Sabletiger. What was he kidding, not just his best friend, but the love of his life, and he had always been to afraid to tell the tom. Regret clouded his heart often, and he always wondered if he could have made things turn out differently if he had only said three little words, but there was no going back. There was no bringing him back. He could only hope that he was waiting for Coalsplash in StarClan.
Coalsplash crept through the territory quietly as not to disturb the night. He found his way to the Sunning Stones, where he and Sabletiger spent most of their time together. He hopped onto the cool stones and rested his head on his paws, pale blue eyes looking up at the stars and knowing that Sabletiger was looking down on him. Tomorrow, perhaps, Coalsplash would be his regular self once again, happy and carefree, but tonight he was morning for twelve moons past.
Ivorycrown had been even angrier when her father's latest batch of kits had shown up. For one, it pulled all of Seablossom's time to them and forced the cat to run ragged tending to them while also taking care of the clan. Second, her father hadn't even raised her, Seablossom had and yet here were his children. The ivory she-cat was fuming as she made her way towards the sunning stones, a place she'd used as of late to cool off when she was this angry. Her anger stemmed from watched those kits demand thing after thing from their eldest sister. Seablossom was only one cat for crying out loud! While they didn't understand being just kits, it still irritated her when she had to just stand there as her sister tends to kits that aren't hers as though she birthed them.
Letting out a frustrated growl, she jumped onto the rocks, only to be surprised to find someone else here. "What? Have a bad day too?" Her tone was angry but what else was expected from EarthClan's local hothead.
Coalsplash started as Ivorycrown's sudden appearance, his long white fur standing on end. He turned to look at her, his frosty blue gaze taking in her stiff stance and the anger in her words. Coalsplash was hardly affected by the she-cat's mood. He was one that always tried to keep smiling, though the night had provided him a moment to feel his real emotions. But he had to get over Sabletiger at some point, and it had been so long since the tom had joined their ancestors. He shouldn't have been losing sleep still.
"Not necessarily," he replied calmly, relaxing against the cool rock once more. "I couldn't sleep, lots on my mind," he murmured then, turning his head back to look at the moon. He shifted slightly, leaving a space for Ivorycrown to join him if she wanted to.
She didn’t ask to join him, made no motion that’s eh was giving him an option, but was glad when he moved over and didn’t need to be pushed over. Fluffy ivory fur took over more space than her actual body did. “That makes two of us.” Sleep avoided her when she was this angry, only keeping her up as further torture. Ivorycrown lashes her tail out in aggravation, “what keeps you awake? Annoying family members? Needy kits?” It surely kept Seablossom awake. Since witnessed that feet a few time snow.
He laid his head on his paws, frost-colored eyes looking out at the gorge that he and his old friend had once traversed. "Fortunately, I don't have family or needy kits to keep me awake," he half joked, one ear going back on his head. "Not that I would mind having those things I suppose. I was just thinking about an old friend; it's hard to sleep at night still without him there. It's been so many moons..." The tom trailed off. He glanced at Ivorycrown, "I'm sorry for what you're going through. I know it can't be easy."
"Then why worry? Clearly, he's not here, so what's there to keep you awake about?" She didn't get it. Though, Ivorycrown hadn't been close with anyone before, not even her father. Half the time she was fighting with Seablossom, and she did not like these new kits. She..didn't really have anyone. It was a sad thing to realize, but she'd always covered it up with her anger and harsh words. It kept her safe, but alone. "What do you know. Your pinning after someone who's not even here."
"He might not be here anymore, but that doesn't mean I don't feel him," he didn't care if Ivorycrown didn't understood, and he wasn't one to take the bait when it was provided. He didn't know if she had ever lost someone like he had, but he wasn't going to argue with her. "What do you feel, then?" He asked, looking right at her, the moon lighting up his frosty eyes in a way that the sun never could. He wondered if anyone had ever even asked her that.
"Nothing." What's there to feel but anger? Her own mother hadn't wanted her. Her father hadn't bothered with her. The only one that had cared was Seablossom and she'd raised her more out of duty than desire. No, Ivorycrown had no one, and no feeling for anyone but anger. Look, even Seablososm had cast her aside when these new kits arrived. What did she even have tying her to this clan besides blood? Kits? Those poor little tom-kits she'd found left in the storm last moon? Seablsosm could raise them. Just as she was raising Amberkit, Wildkit, Frostkit, and Graykit. Just like she'd raised her.
Coalsplash laid his head on his paws and looked out at the gorge, still as a chilled breeze swept through the barren twists and turns below them. "I'm not sure I believe you," he said. His voice was calm, his body relaxed beside her. He could feel her anger - it was radiating off of her in hot waves. "I could help you take care of the kits, if you want. I mean.. If that would help at all," he added quietly. He didn't want to make her even more upset. Perhaps he should just keep his mouth shut. It wasn't something he was all that used to doing.
(So sorry! I've been trying to get things ready both for school and vacation)
Ivorycrown was shocked speechless. This cat, a tom at that, wanted to help her? He's gotta be joking. At the thought, angry coursed through her, how dare he. "Sure you would. And I'll learn to fly like a bird." A roll of her eyes and a tsk of disbelief followed ehr turning away from the other warrior. He didn't know what he was talking about. What did he even know about kits? About her?
"Well, I've never taken care of kits but I've had a few apprentices. They're getting kind of close to that age, right? I mean, if you ever need a break I could at least take them off your paws and entertain them for a little while," Coalsplash shrugged, seeming not to notice the anger in her voice now. He tilted his head, trying to picture the kits he knew that Ivorycrown had been taking care of. They had to be reaching the end of their kithood. "I could show them the proper hunting crouches, kits love learning about what the apprentices get to do."
(omg they can co-parent lol. I call dips on being the grumpy one! Even though Ivorycrown is always grumpy. )
Ivorycrown couldn't believe what he was saying. "Yeah? You gonna wash behind their ears, too? What about clean their messes? Or even sitting up all night with no sleep while Cougarkit's sick?" He didn't get it. Toms just didn't. There was a reason it was QUEENS who raised the kits, cause toms didn't think about these kinds of things. Though, she didn't until she had too, when Seastar told her.
[ that's fine because i honestly don't know if coalsplash even knows how to be grumpy lolol ]
Coalsplash didn't understand the tone of her voice - or more, the way she was feeling about his offer. He looked at her, completely serious: "If that's what you want me to do," he said, sincere as can be. "I used to get in trouble a lot when I was an apprentice and I was always having to groom the elders. Kits will be much easier," he mused to himself, grimacing at the memory of picking fleas off of the elders backs. "And I don't sleep a lot anyway, so I suppose that would give you some time to sleep after you've been taking care of him all day."
(Lol basically Chat Noir and Ladybug when she’s in a bad mood or someone stricter. I just finished watching the last of it on Netflix.)
Ivorycrown was....shocked? She didn’t really know what to feel. He’d just dismissed the things that would make most cats say no or just leave, and she’d been hateful about it too. Now her anger was diminishing though due to her confusion. “I..o-okay.”
