Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
TEAM CAPTAINS ARE IN ITALICS. TEAM CAPTAINS GET A SPECIAL 1X1 TRAINING WITH THE HEDA. GETTING A SPECIAL TRAINING WITH THE HEDA INCREASES YOUR LIKELIHOOD OF SUCCEEDING IN THE TRIALS. THE TWO CATS WHO END UP TEAM CAPTAINS AT THE END OF THE SESSION WILL HAVE +15% LIKELIHOOD OF SUCCESS, WHICH IS NO SMALL NUMBER.
BECAUSE OF THIS, YOU WANT YOUR CAT TO GET THIS SPECIAL TRAINING SESSION, AND IT IS IN YOUR BEST STRATEGIC INTEREST TO HAVE YOUR CAT IMPRESS SHAE ENOUGH TO MAKE SHAE WANT TO DETHRONE THE TEAM LEADER AND MAKE YOUR CAT TEAM LEADER. SABOTAUGE IS ENCOURAGED, HOWEVER, SHAE DOES NOT LOOK KINDLY UPON FAILED MISSIONS AND IF YOUR CAT CAUSES A MISSION FAILURE, SHE WILL NOT BE IMPRESSED.
BY PARTICIPATING IN THE TRAINING THREAD, YOU ALSO ARE OPENING YOURSELF UP TO WILDCARD POINTS. IF YOUR CAT DOES SOMETHING PARTICULARLY GOOD, SHAE MAY AWARD THEM +5%. IF THEY CAUSE A MISSION FAILURE, SHAE MAY GRANT A -5%. IN EACH THREAD, ONLY ONE INSTANCE OF POSITIVE WILDCARD POINTS AND ONE INSTANCE OF NEGATIVE WILDCARD POINTS WILL BE GRANTED.
Shae stared at the tyros in front of her, her gaze clinical in its analysis of each of them. For once, she seemed surprisingly lucid. It was almost as if she was an entirely different cat, one that was unlike the cat they had seen two weeks ago, the one that had assigned her very own daughter to a figment of her imagination. This might come as a surprise to the young cats, the life that was behind those cold, ice blue eyes. However, this sudden change, this sudden awareness, was not something that should be shocking. Shae's mentality had a way of coming and going, sometimes completely focused, others completely unfocused. It all depended on the day.
And today, she had a job to do. This would be the first installment of the training teams for this round of tyros. Each tyro from this point forward would be assigned to one of these teams upon promotion. At the end of each training session, Shae would determine if the team captains performed at a level that made them worthy of being a team captain the following month. If they were deemed unsuccessful, either because their team failed the mission that Shae would give them or because their performance was not up to her standards, a new team captain would be selected. Either way, whoever was team captain by the end of the training would get a coveted training session with her. These were important, as Shae refused to take a tyro for herself. Those who got this training were the only cats in the group that would have the chance to say they were trained by the heda.
She glanced down at the two cats that she had assigned the inaugral team captains. It should have been no surprise that the two were her daughters. Wes, her favorite daughter, and Lane, a daughter that was capable albeit too soft. They had been obvious choices. After all, she was a nepotist, and Finn and Kallie were more capable of being a weight to drag the team down than they were capable of leading. She flicked her tail. Would Wes and Lane be dethroned in the games tonight? Shae supposed it was possible, albeit improbable in her eyes. If a cat managed to capture her eye more than these two, well, that would be an impressive feat.
She flicked her tail, before deciding she had waited long enough for tardy tyros. It was time to start the games.
"Good evening, tyros. Before we begin, I want to remind you all of your team assignments. Your mentors should have given them to you before you came. Team Delta comprises of Finn, Wes, Belle and Levi'a. Wes will be your captain. Team Epsilon is comprised of Katara, Azula, Kallie and Lane. Lane will be your captain. As a reminder, both to the captains that we start with tonight and to the rest of you, just because you start as captain does not mean that is the position in which you will end."
She gave the tyros one more cold glance over. "Please divide up into your teams. While you are dividing up, you may ask any questions you have apart from details on tonight's mission. That information will come soon enough."
Lane-kepa glanced over the gathered tyros before clearing her throat delicately. Who's bright idea had it been to instate her as a team captain? Well, Shae's obviously, but Lane had to question the reasoning for her mother's choice. Was her intention that Lane would be an ineffectual captain, and cause them to fail their mission? She couldn't be sure she wouldn't screw it up for everyone else. "Team Epsilon, over here please."
To be completely honest, Lane wasn't even sure if she wanted a solo training session from her own mother. Failing the mission intentionally would be a surefire way to avoid one, but it would also likely sabotage her chances at becoming a combatant, something she wasn't yet totally sure she wanted to risk. "Heda Shae, may I ask how the new team captains would be selected, if a team does happen to fail?"
Shae flicked her tail. "Oh, don't be mistaken, Lane-kepa. Teams don't have to fail their mission to have their captains replaced. The Team Captain, after all, is an honor given only to the top feline of the group." Her head tilted slightly. "The captains will always be selected by yours truly. If you catch my eye and keep my eye, you'll get team captain." Shae blinked at her daughter. She wasn't exceptionally impressed that she asked the question, but it was probably good information for the others who would be vying to take Lane's position as top. "If your team fails, it doesn't automatically dethrone the captain, either. If you all prove to be equally worthless at the activity at hand, the chance I change captains is small."
"It truly depends on performance. Although there are consequences for mission failure," Shae flicked her tail, "I care more about each of your performances more, both in relation to the team and individually. I want to see how your training has progressed, and I want to see who my promising future combatants are."
Levi'a-kedi waved her tail from side to side as the Heda made her opening remarks. Since her mother's disappearance the tyro withdrew from everything in the Coalition, so getting a promotion on during the Ceremonies was more of a shock than anything. The she-cat was not even sure who led the Coalition before the Ceremonies, but her she was, about to participate in whatever the Heda had in mind. Her ignorance to the rest of the group did not end there. She knew nothing of the fellow cats she was teamed up with. She sighed under her breath and shuffled her paws. The golden tabby just wanted to be done with the humiliation.
Lane-kepa caught a glimpse of Levi'a-kepa shuffling her paws awkward, and felt sympathy for her fellow tyro. Having only semi-recently arrived in the coalition she didn't know the she-cat very well at all, but she'd heard that Levi'a-kepa was the daughter of the previous Heda. If that was true, then Lane wondered if the two of them were feeling the same kind of pressure, given that the current heda was Lane's own mother. Perhaps they could bond over that pressure in the future, provided none of them were horribly maimed in the following mission. Lane honestly wouldn't put it past Shae.
She plastered a perky smile on her face, padding a few pawsteps closer towards the opposing team. "Good luck with your mission," she chirped, trying to sound as reassuring as possible. It came out kind of sarcastic instead. I need to practice more. Stupid.
Finn blinked at her sister's voice, before turning to the other cats that were of her team. "Levi'a, we're over here," she called over to the she-cat her sister had just spoken to, although her words came out flat. She wasn't all that interested in making friends, and the far off look that generally took over her gaze was ever present. Still, she felt like she needed to put at least some effort into this thing, less she became once again target of her mother's frustration.
should i go ahead and assign the mission and just assume that like these 3 are the only ones that will respond? i'll make a random cat to be with lane on her side and it can be two and two? or should i wait a bit longer? idk
i am leaving soon, hit me up anytime on discord <3

"Team Delta, look sharp." Wes was similar to her mother and had no room or desire to work with weaklings. If they couldn't keep up they would learn to. She looked up at her mother as she spoke and felt a similar disdain for her sister. Weak, whispered a voice inside her head and she looked away. She was the strongest here and Shae would see that before long. It only mattered as long as her mother saw her worth and the others recognized their pitiful weakness.
