The air is so cold yet the trees are on set aflame, a fiery inferno just waving in the breeze over his ears. Scarlet and gold flickers at the usually blue sky, which is now turned gray with a trail of clouds. The chill drifting through the air is a sign of a harsh leaf-bare drawing nearer. A long sigh withdrew from the dark furred tom, leaving a whirl of warm cloud dissipating before him. He struggled to not let his body shiver, tensing his muscles beneath a thin coat. He knew wasn't built to live outside. Scars from his chains would remind him of that enough without the struggles he faced every day that none others had to.
Incandescentheart sat crouched at the edge of the pond, just admiring how the leaves fell gracefully onto the peaceful surface. That would soon be frozen over. WaterClan would have to resort to land prey once again, digging up frozen burrows to catch unsuspecting rodents in their sleep. He hoped StarClan would be kind enough to grant them an easy leaf-bare when the time came.

Before even being seen, the loud, droning, hum that swayed between being adorably sweet and annoyingly off key buzzed in the air, a background noise that just got louder and louder as the she cat approached. Her scent was drenched in the typical earth-y scents of Earthclan, and among the Waterclan territory it stuck out like a sore thumb. Yet, despite the fact she encroached farther and farther into the territory, she seemed completely absentminded of her infiltration.
Getting within just a few feet of the deputy, despite being completely oblivious of his presence, she found a small rock near completely in the sunlight, and plopped on top of it without a single care in the world. It seemed almost ironic, this small she cat with enough velveteen plush white fur for two cats, sitting under the warmest area possible and yet still letting out a very audible "burr!" every few seconds, not to even mention the small, "Eek!" she squealed when a random chilly wind ruffled her pelt, still gleaming with her silver highlights under a warming sun.

The sudden noise that wasn't organic to the swaying of the trees startled him. The deputy's head shot up in alarm, ready to call out to the unfamiliar sound when the source was revealed. His eyes twisted in a way that completely gave away his puzzled and curious expression. Words had bundled up in the back of his throat when he tried to open his mouth to say something. It felt like a ball of string that would just keep rolling away when you would try to pull it near, unable to be caught until it completely unraveled. With two fiery orbs, he just watched in surprise as the feline took comfort on a rock. Each noise that her vocals strummed made his ears twitch back in displeasure. Actually, he wouldn't be surprised if she was able to scare a brave crow into flapping away in a panic with that set of lungs.
Prickles of fur stood up on his neck from frustration. He was disappointed in himself for not catching her scent, but the breeze was blowing away from him, and would have carried it off. She remarkably didn't seem to notice WaterClan's borders, though. What does she think she's doing? He growled to himself and moved into a standing position. "Hey!" Incandescentheart let out a hiss, the words hoarse as they scraped past his throat.
Polarfantasy, for the first time even realizing she wasn't alone, twisted her head with a look of baffled confusion, especially to being hissed at. Her eyes, two round pools of almost pitiful child-like confusion, turned to the cat who sat there looking very displeased at her, before widening in pure surprise. "Oh!" She let out a cry of shock, not at the tom himself, but at his very distinct coat. "What happened to your poor pelt!?" Her voice was a mixture of pure horror and sympathy, and completely forgot to realize that she had never seen this cat in her territory before, nor had she ever seen the pond, the rocks, or even some of these particular trees either.

It was almost entertaining watching her for a second, quietly enjoying the reaction he earned from the she-cat who was completely unaware he was so close by. The enjoyment soon turned into disappointment. Biting back a fizzle of irritation, he was left looking down at his fur, searching it as if he was really unaware or fazed by her horrified gasp. Incandescentheart certaintly didn't carry a coat to be proud of. It was thin, appeared to be prickly upon looking at it despite it's soft touch, and seemed to give up even covering his skin when it reached his legs and muzzle. A frown distorted his face, but he shook it off and redirected his stare back up at the intruder. "That's awful rude," he scoffed. "For you to just pad in here without a worry in the world, in WaterClan territory! Then you proceed to suggest there's something wrong with my pelt?"
She hesitated, as if not sure what to say, just blinking a moment completely dumbfounded. In her mind, this random cat with weird fur had magically appeared behind her, and now he was telling her she was in Waterclan territory. Still, she did feel bad, and she did suppose she hurt his feelings, though the words that came out of her mouth she hadn't really intended to come out of her mouth. Or, well, she did intend them, but- but not like that? Was this the bad case of foot-in-mouse disease cat kept saying she had behind her back? "I'm, I'm sorry. I guess, uh, your fur is extremely nice in the fact that it is incredibly unique." She said awkwardly, completely oblivious to the fact she was only making things worse. Then she remembered the other thing he said.
"Wait." She looked at him, her typically large, round eyes squinted in complete confusion. "Where? Waterclan? Whaaaaaaaat?" She gave a long drawl out, her typical valley girl intonation that had, in her panic, near completely disappeared, returned with a vengeance as if feeding off of her typical ignorance of the situation.

Dark amber eyes rolled around in their sockets as he let out an exasperated sigh. He knew she was just trying to think of some excuse to take back her words, or at least make them sound less offensive. That didn't really matter to him. Getting caught up in his appearance, though being ashamed of some of his more unique features, wasn't like him at all. The important thing to address was the fact that there was a trespasser on the land and he intended to focus on it. The deputy stepped forward, feeling his toes line up to the icy cold water as he stared around her figure. His ears tilted forward, cautiously listening to make sure there weren't others around, using this as some kind of distraction. "Those borders were just refreshed a few days ago. Don't try to tell me you missed that." Perhaps she was just playing dumb instead of actually having a brain the size of a squirrel's meal?
She paused again, blinking. Waterclan had a border? Didn't they live underwater? Or wait... was it an island? Didn't her mentor tell her something about them when she was younger? Maybe? It occurred to that she had likely been daydreaming during that part of the lesson, along with possibly every other important lesson she had ever been given. Being an apprentice, as she had recalled it had been both the time of her life and incredibly boring. Still, finally taking the time too look around she noticed that things actually were even less familiar to her than her own territory normally was. Taking and extra second to try to catch a scent, even despite her nose slightly numb from the cold, she could tell that the typical earthy smell had been replaced by something wholly unfamiliar.
"Oh!" She said, it all finally hitting her that she really wasn't in Earthclan anymore. "I like, didn't even notice! Sorry!" Her ears fell a bit, and her mouth pursed with embarrassment. She was at least self-aware enough to feel a bit abashed by her mistake, even if she looked more like a scolded kit that a grown warrior. "Uh, I guess I'll try to get going then. It was nice to meet you but I guess I need to go-" She turned, prepared to trot right back into the sightly more familiar land she called home, when she noticed that nothing behind her seemed even the least bit familiar. She blinked once. The twice. Then squinted at the forest, as if somehow she could see right through the strange foliage and mass of trees. Her ears fell, and she stood near paralyzed in front of the trees, shrubs, and other greenery that blocked her way from where she wanted to be.

The deputy's eyes looked over the she-cat, up, and then down, multiple times over, as if trying to get some idea of who she was. Somewhere during their conversation he had been able to pick up an earthy scent that was very familiar to one of the clans right next to WaterClan's. As she turned, Incandescentheart snapped from his thoughts, giving his head a furious shake. "Oh no," he growled, pacing forward to place himself between her and the way she was headed. "I'm sorry, but I can't just let you walk out of here alone. Maybe you could have gotten away with anyone else, but unfortunately for you, you ran into the wrong cat." The lengthy tom stood, gritting his teeth tightly together. It had a lot to do with the water that circled around his paws, and how cold it was, especially in the autumn breeze. "I think I'll escort you back," he decided, with a nod of his head, then added, in a mutter, "hopefully it'll allow your leader to keep a better eye on their warriors."
