Buttercupkit waddled her way out of the nursery and into the camp, her large turquoise eyes widened and scanned the camp in search for something to do. They landed on a clump of flowers nearby on the edge of camp. Buttercup flowers, just like her mother named her after. She leaped into the bunch, rolling around in them. She sniffed the reflective yellow flowers and let out a sneeze as the pollen tickled her little pink nose. A butterfly landed on one of the flowers but instead of batting at it, like most kits would, she admired it. She watched the wings flap, revealing the beautiful patterns that were used to warn off predators and attract mates. She couldn't believe how perfect the world was. How beautiful it truly was.
Although her mind was occupied by the beauty of nature, a small sadness lingered in her heart, no matter how many times she tried to push it away with something more positive. She knew her mother loved her dearly. It was obvious. However, it felt as if her mother was never there. She would come see them, feed them, love on them, and then be gone again. She knew her mother had a lot of responsibilities and she was proud that she was the daughter of a strong warrior. A warrior strong enough to be chosen by Glowstar, herself, to be a part of the immortal council. She guessed the reason she didn't see much of her mother was probably because of how busy she was with her duties.

"Oh hello Buttercupkit. Is something the matter?" Newcomer Goldenkit approached the other. After spending time in the medicine cat den and resting in the nursery, she had quickly learned most everyone's names. She still limped a tiny bit, but she was a new cat since before she joined. Now that things had quieted down and less eyes were on her, she sought company and had quickly approached the other kit. Goldenkit was no stranger to smiling when you're sad. It may have just been a gut feeling, but she wanted to check on the other to make sure.
Buttercupkit looked up from her position on the ground, laying on her back in the batch of flowers. "Oh, hi, Goldenkit!" She rolled back over and rose to her tiny paws. "How are you feeling?" She asked, only meeting the other she-kit a couple times to know her name.

The picture of Buttercupkit on her back, surrounded by flowers was a sweet image, a perfect memory. Goldenkit had to make sure she'd remember it.
"Good. My leg's been healing up nicely thanks to Flyingcolors." She smiled, giving the leg a small shake and ignoring the twinges of pain that ensued, "but I thought I was asking about you. Not that you have to say anything." For all of Goldenkit's knowledge, no one else really knew her, and she only knew basic stuff about the others. It was a lot to ask someone to open their heart to a stranger. Sometimes that could be what you need.

Goldenkit nodded, dropping the subject in her mind. She couldn't tell yet if her hunch was wrong. What she could tell at least that Buttercupkit didn't seem interested in talking about it. She couldn't blame her. Goldenkit held her own share of secrets.
"Hmm, Good." She smiled, "Anything you wanna do? I saw some older moss we can make into a ball if you want."
"Will you be okay playing a game of moss ball with your leg?" she asked, trying to keep her excitement down at the thought of having someone to play with.

"I'll be okay as long as I don't strain it. You'll just have to do most of the legwork." And by not strain it, she knew it was barely move it. But still, she didn't want to be alone. And was tired of resting it constantly, having to watch everyone play rather than getting to be a part of it. So she'd tolerate it.

Everyone was so friendly here, it warmed her heart. She wasn't completely used to it yet, more used to being told off or becoming the ball herself. The change was pleasant, far nicer than she could believe.
"You know where Palefrost normally lays? It's right behind there."
"Okay! Lets go!" Buttercupkit purred, bouncing away, her tiny tail sticking up in the air. Buttercupkit was one of the more friendly kits in Dayclan. She enjoyed being friendly. She didnt have a cruel bone in her body. Her father was a kind hearted cat like her but her mother was more hard core. Although her mother was a genuinely fair warrior, she didnt take lightly to intruders. Suddenly Buttercupkit began to worry what her mother would think if she knew she was friends with a kit that wasn't Dayclan blood. But she quickly pushed that thought away. Goldenkit seemed really nice and she liked her.
It didnt look like Palefrost wasnt laying in her usual spot this time but she saw the moss that Goldenkit mentioned. She scooped a pawful of the moss and rolled it into a ball. "Ready? Catch!" She batted the moss ball into the air toward Goldenkit.

Goldenkit watched her bounce away. Sure, not everyone was as friendly as Buttercupkit, but no one was like the League younglings. She wasn't League blood, just rogue blood brought in by her father. And when the pressure got too much, she ran out in the middle of the night. They would notice, but no one would miss her. Here it was so much nicer. Someone actually wanted to play with her, and seemed to like her genuinely despite her just showing up one day. It was nice, like a ray of sun on a stone.
She was so lost in her little monologue she almost missed the moss ball being hurled at her. It bounced off her head, but she reacted quickly enough to catch it with her teeth. Glancing back at her leg to make sure it was still in correct, she tossed the ball back to Buttercupkit, letting out a giggle as she watched it fly through the air.
"Nice catch!" She purred, giving a small bounce of excitement and thrill despite the fact that Goldenkit had nearly missed it. Perhaps thats what made it more exciting? She managed to catch it even though it bounced off her head.
Buttercupkit leaped up with both her paws extended as the ball came hurling toward her and pinned the ball to the ground. "Watch this!" She mrrowed excitedly as she tossed the ball in the air, swiveled, and kicked it with her back paws, sending it flying over Goldenkit's head.

Antkit sat outside the nursery her red/brown fur ruffled happily as she watched her two denmates play with the moss, excitement flashed in her eyes each time the ball flew through the air. She let out a sigh and slide down onto her side, the young she-cat being so shy couldn't bring herself to confront the she-kits but that didn't mean she couldn't watch them have fun. Antkit let out a giggle when the moss ball bounced off Goldenkits head and her eyes grew round in amazement as she still managed to catch it, the ball went back and forth again and kept her eyes on it as it flew clear over Goldenkit this time.

"What? Wow, that was beautiful. Your form was perfect." Goldenkit complimented Buttercupkit as she watched the ball sail over her. She wanted to catch it, even briefly considering propping herself up on her one good leg. But that's all it was, she held herself back. Hobbling over to grab it, she noticed Antkit watching them by the mouth of the nursery. Spinning in a tight circle, she threw the mossball. It rose and fell in a sharp curve, suddenly heading straight for Antkit.
Buttercupkit felt warm under her fur at Goldenkit's compliment. "Thank you..." She mewed humbly. As she watched Goldenkit hobble over to the moss ball that flew over her head, Buttercupkit felt bad that she had flown the ball too far.
She then pricked her ears as Goldenkit flung the ball over to Antkit. It soared toward her and Buttercupkit closed one eye as she braced for the impact of the ball.

Antkits eyes grew wide, she heard Goldenkits warning before she noticed the ball flying directly for her. Trying to push the panic down Antkit stumbled to her paws to move but one of her legs caught under her and she tripped forward as the ball reached her, it bounced off of her back and tumbled a few paw lengths away. "Mouse-dung!" her voice was quiet as she untangled her legs and stood up a sudden rush of embarrassment flooding over her as she glanced at Buttercupkit and Goldenkit. She picked up the ball and trotted slowly to return it to the other kits. "S-sorry." She mumbled the apology through the wad of green in her mouth.

"No need for that, it was my fault trying to one up Buttercupkit. Though now that you're here, do you want to join us?" Antkit didn't appear hurt, merely embarrassed, and Goldenkit easily overlooked that. It was a risky plan to bring Antkit into the game without cornering her, and it still ended up embarrassing her. But Goldenkit was young and not the best at plans and her heart hurt a little seeing Antkit sitting and watching them with eyes that glowed with the desire to join.

Antkits ears pricked at the invitation offered to her and she dropped the moss ball in front of her paws before replying. "You really want me to play?" It wasn't often she got to play with the others but that was mostly her own fault, she was too timid to join them on her own and most of the time she ran when being approached. Her eyes glittered in the sunlight and flashed with joy as she looked from Buttercupkit to Goldenkit.
"Of course! We would love for you to join us!" Buttercupkit chirped with a purr, a bright smile crossing her face. Even her turquoise eyes seemed to be smiling in a welcoming gleam.
