(Elyon-kun ambushes two apprentices, kills one, assumes she drowned the other and proceeds to harvest their eyes. She takes the dead ones eyes and then moves on to the other one, only to take his eye out and he wakes up)
It was supposed to be a fun adventure. Turtlepaw showing the older Frondpaw that his mentor had done a great job and though he hadn't yet mastered swimming. Sure technically Riverstar had promoted him a little too early. But he was going to prove that despite his age and small size he was a great apprentice.
They should've been more careful, but their mentors had never taught them that a threat like this could lurk.
It had all happened so fast, a golden blur dropping down from above, landing on Frondpaw's back. Frondpaw squealing as a snap was heard, the little brown tabby dropping onto his belly, his hindlegs crumpled underneath him.
Turtlepaw barely had a chance to try and lash out, but he was practically batted aside by the larger cat, and suddenly he was in the water. Flailing he'd tried to claw his way to the surface, but to no avail he'd gone under, taking in water. His lungs burned as he tried to hold his breath, knowing he was sinking deeper and deeper. Above him he could only hear muted noises. Then he finally couldn't take it anymore and he started to take in water, blackness starting to consume his vision.
'Is this how I'm going to die?' The little gray and white tabby thought distantly before he faded out.
For a bit he thought he was floating, teetering between life and death. Then blinding agony bolted through him. He burst back to the land of the living, water exploding out of him and blinding agony in the right side of his face. The right side he suddenly couldn't see anything out of. His vision was red in his left eye and he could see the golden cat's blue eyes bearing into him, something hooked into her claws covered in gore. Terrified he flailed striking out and managing to catch her in the chest. The golden cat clearly so surprised to find him alive that she stumbled off him with an off, taking what she had in her grasp with her. Turtlepaw staggered away from her, head snapping towards Frondpaw, and he choked on his air.
Frondpaw lay in a pool of blood, limp. Head turned to Turtlepaw and Turtlepaw saw with horror his friend's mangled face and the hollow sockets where his eyes had been,
Turtlepaw froze in horror and it gave the golden cat a chance to attack him once more.
Fear and blinding panic made Turtlepaw lash out for her head catching the golden cat just above her eye as she tore into his side just narrowly missing his belly. Pain from the right part of his head and now his side burned into him and Turtlepaw screeched. The pain forcing him to his paws and he took off running, heart pounding in his chest blood dripping down from his wounds leaving a bloody trail in his wake as he ran and ran for all he was worth.
He could hear the golden cat giving chase, and it forced him to run faster, finding his voice to scream. "Help! Somebody help me!"
The leggy gender tabby was heading to the river to get some fishing done. He wasn't the most proficient at hunting land prey and preferred to keep to the water instead, but he was a very good fisher and that had won him his place in the clan. His ear twitched absently as he took in the sounds surrounding him but he was caught completely shocked by a fearful screeching heading his way. Quickly Lexington cut across the edge of the swamp and closer to the voice, heading at a diagonal until he saw a fleeing cat ahead of him, one eye missing and a golden cat giving chase. His stomach twisted at the sight of blood and he very nearly retched, but instead he summoned a growl and loped over to face the pair, planting himself between the apprentice and pursuer.
"Hey! Stop, both of you," the warrior demanded lowly.
Today was supposed to be a day of relaxation and hobby fulfillment. Her golden gaze planted on the shimmering river as she waited for a flicker of silver scales to swim past them. Her paw hovered over top of the body of water and was just about to hook into a small trout when the screaming erupted. The fish took off and her claws did nothing but splash up water.
tsk.
She was angry now. Her face painted with annoyance as she stomped off from the water's edge and towards the source of the noise, but then she stopped dead in her tracks coming to a halt next to the bloody, disfigured Turtlepaw. Her body shivered and her fur bristled up as she stared at his empty socket, the blood pouring out of the hole and painting the ground under their paws scarlet. Her eyes grew wide and her paws dug into the dirt under paw as she shook harder. Any rational cat would deem her merely afraid of the horrific sight, after all she was only a few moons older then Turtlepaw, but no. This was not the case. She was excited. The shivers nothing more then her attempt at concealing her enthusiasm at the sight of the mutilated cat and to ease her desire to mangle him further. She took a deep breath, allowing her pounding heart to calm down as she turned her attention towards the mysterious golden cat that had chased the apprentice. The only thing standing between the hunter and it's prey being Lexington. How lucky.
She thought to herself. This cat was allowed to torture and kill who they pleased, while Frozenpaw was forced to play pretend and stay in Riverstar's good graces. She scented the air, smelling a faint trace of Primal Instinct among the strong scent of blood and Waterclan. So this was why this cat could do as she pleased. She was Primal Instinct, the most feared of foes, and even loners and rogues knew that they cared little for rules or borders. Not that Frozenpaw particularly cared for the reputation they had built up. To her they seemed nothing more then savages who didn't even take the time to savor their kills like she did.
Now it was time to play pretend. She wrapped a tail around the injured apprentice and allowed a look of concern to slip onto her face. "Are you alright, Turtlepaw? Don't worry! Lexington will protect you!" She assured.
Elyon already seeing more cats starting to converge on Turtlepaw to help him, realized the point was moot and turned tail and fled. She had to grab the eyes she'd managed to get, she'd just have to accept just one from the little gray and black tabby tom. She raced away heading back to retrieve her trophies.
Turtlepaw threw himself into Frozenpaw sobbing, coughing, spluttering and bleeding. He wasn't able to compose words babbling and crying from a mixture of pain and trauma the ground under him splattering red as drops of blood flowed from his wounds falling onto the ground.
She felt a smirk curl at the edge of her muzzle as she turned her attention from the sobbing Turtlepaw to Elyon who was running away at the first sign of trouble.
God, even those the clan cats fear the most are pathetic.
She thought to herself, attempting to hold back a chuckle at the she-cat fleeing with her tail tucked in between her legs. She turned back to the mutilated apprentice who was still sobbing into her chest, smearing his blood onto her white turfs of fur. She tried to hide her annoyance at the mess the young tom was causing, forcing herself to wrap her tail tighter around the newly promoted apprentice. "Don't worry Turtlepaw. He's gone now. Lexington scared her off!" Frozenpaw purred, trying to sound reassuring.
Lexington growled after the stranger and nearly gave chase, anything to get away from looking at the mangled Turtlepaw, but the eyes hanging in her grasp were enough to make him change his mind. Lex shook his head and muttered, "We need to get them back to camp." He cast a sideways glance their directions and swallowed hard, locking his jaw. It wasn't so bad if he didn't look at the eyes, the rest of the apprentice wasn't so bad, though his friend hadn't been so lucky. He took in a gulp of fresh air then slowly dragged himself over to the deceased and tried to find a blood-free patch of fur to pick him up by.
The limp brown tabby form of Frondpaw had clearly had his lower back broken, his back at a painful looking angle. And chunks of flesh had been torn out from his body. Fortunately the area by his scruff was mostly blood free as was his back. His belly though was a different story. When Lexington lifted the deceased apprentice blood and bits of gore were left behind.
Turtlepaw's sobs started to peter off replaced by whimpering and shuddering from the pain. "It hurts." He whimpered pressing in close to Frozenpaw desperately clinging to whatever scrap of comfort he could get in his pained and traumatized state. "I wanna go home." He wanted his mother, he wanted Frondpaw, but Frondpaw was dead and the thought made him start sobbing again. "I just wanted Frondpaw to like me."
"Shhh. I know. I know." She allowed her tongue to swipe over his unbloody ear, trying to control her shivering of pleasure at the scent of metallic when she did so. She wanted to do nothing more then to finish him off, to sink her teeth into his throat and take his last good eye before he bled out. Of course though, she wouldn't. After all, she needed to be on the good side of the Waterclan cats if she wanted all of this to be hers one day.
She turned her attention to Lexington in an attempt to push her attention away from the obsessive thoughts. "Shouldn't we chase after her?" She asked.
Turtlepaw was quieted by Frozenpaw's comfort, though his shudders didn't dissipate the little tom's body likely going into shock from the numerous wounds on his body.
Undertow had heard the noises in the distance but had taken his time to get there, only quickening his pace when he could scent the blood. He emerged from behind some ferns and made his way over to Lexington, Frozenpaw and Turtlepaw blinking when he saw Turtlepaw's mutilated face and then frowning when he saw the limp form of Frondpaw in Lexington's grasp. "What happened?" The tom asked frowning. Though inwardly he felt his heart quicken with excitement. Turtlepaw had only a few days before been Turtlekit, a kit barely over 3 moons old when Riverstar announced he'd become an apprentice. He wondered how the leader was going to handle it, or how the clan would handle it. Would they be horrified or believe the young tom weak. He managed to keep a blank face as all these thoughts swirled through his mind.
"Never mind, we should get them both back to camp." He turned in the direction to camp. "Come on, Riverstar will need to be informed and I imagine Turtlepaw will need treatment... if he can be treated."
The words leaving Undertow's mouth made Turtlepaw's heart stop and the apprentice's body shook with barely restrained sobs, had he survived only to get abandoned in the last moment?
"Why bother? She's gone and we need to take care of these bodies," Lex replied dismissively. He wasn't about to chase after a cat that had done this much damage to a kit. He glanced low and carefully at Undertow, guarded, but at the tom's words he nodded his agreement. He held his breath as he carefully gripped Frondpaw's scruff and started to drag him back home, choking on the scent of blood and the taste of a few specks that had splattered across his fur. His stomach twisted but he clmaped down and took shallow breaths as he slowly brought him back.
If Undertow noted the look Lexington gave him he didn't say anything, instead going over to Turtlepaw. "Here, I'll carry him back." He told Frozenpaw, then quietly he added. "If you'd like we can go snoop around the area later." The black tom breathed into her ear. He'd seen the darkness that lurked that she tried to keep hidden from the clan. He wondered if she was interested in going after the cat truly to stop them... to test her mettle against the dangerous cat, or even perhaps to speak to the cat to hear what it was like to have the freedom to engage in such violence against others.
Whichever it was, Undertow didn't need to define it right then, so he picked up Turtlepaw and lead the way back to camp.

Riverstar had been patrolling his lands when he heard the commotion. Now, he watched with narrowed eyes as the cats carried the apprentices back to the clan.
"Where do you think you're taking them?" He spoke up, stepping out of the shadows. His voice was low and wicked. There was disappointment and anger in his deep brown gaze. His eyes passed over each of them, taking note of the damage done. Frondpaw had always been weak.
Undertow set down Turtlepaw the mutilated and still bleeding apprentice sobbing quietly again.
"Back to camp," The black tom said glancing down at Turtlepaw. He looked up towards Riverstar, the tone didn't bode well for the kit-apprentice at his paws.

"Back to camp, hm?" He meowed darkly, staring down at the frightened apprentice with a curling smile. What a pity. Another weak apprentice to keep the clan from growing strong. His eyes flashed to Frondpaw and then back to Turtlepaw. There were a few moments of deathly silence before he whisked his tail. "Leave them. They are no use to us and do not deserve to be a part of Waterclan." He met Undertow's gaze sharply, a demand in his eyes.
"Wait!" Bluestream huffed catching up to her mate. Admittedly it wasn't easy these days but, still she managed. She moved to stand between Turtlepaw and Riverstar. Where he saw a weak apprentice she saw a injured frightened kit. "You cant leave him, he was strong enough to fight for being so young, give him a chance to heal and he'll be a warrior one day that will make you proud." Not wziti g for his response she crouched down by the mangled kit and licked him reassuringly between the ears. "You're alright little one" She whispered.
Undertow Met Riverstar’s gaze easily, ears flicking forwards at the leaders order, both surprised and also not. At his paws Turtlepaw had frozen up in terror making a slight choking noise, like the situation was dragging all air from his little lungs. The kit wouldn’t be long for this world if left alone.
Though fortune smiled upon Turtlepaw when Blue stream showed up. The black and gray tabby almost immediately bursting into sobs once more flinging himself to Bluestreams side, pressing in close smearing blood into her fur everything just piling up on the young cat making him unable to process, just cry and mumble, “thankyou, thankyou.” To Bluestream.
Undertow looked from Bluestream to Riverstar bemused, now what would the leader do?

Riverstar stood for many moments, glaring between his mate and the little tom. How dare she. Fine, she will watch him die. Gritting his teeth at the thoughts, he turned on his heels and flicked his tail once more. "Fine, but you two are responsible for feeding him." He answered shortly, speaking about Bluestream and Undertow. They would both be responsible since they wanted to him back so bad. "Leave the other one for the crows."

Frozenpaw felt a smirk ease onto her muzzle, but quickly covered it with a startled expression at Riverstar's demands to abandon the mutilated apprentice. She watched as Bluestream suddenly appeared beside her mate, pressing close to Turtlepaw's injured body as he sobbed into her pelt.
Pathetic.
Had that been her mate, she would have killed her for the disloyalty, but she watched with amusement as Riverstar simply muttered out his disapproval before turning his back on the duo. She bounced up to Turtlepaw and Bluestream, allowing a large toothy smile to appear on her face. "Don't worry! I'll see if I can change his mind!" The apprentice said as she took off after the leader. "Wait up, Riverstar!"
Lexington was all too happy to drop Frondpaw back to the soil. He quickly stepped away and rubbed his paw across his muzzle, nauseated by the taste of blood in his mouth. “Enjoy, crows,” he muttered. He wasn’t about to argue with his leader over a corpse.
