Shule had promised to visit her kits in DayClan. Of course, what she hadn't expected was for her nephew to make her Mercenary Superior, for Foxstar's attack, Limavady's betrayal, and imprisonment of SunClan's leader. But she'd made sure to come by today, Kaisra in tow. Glowstar deserved to see the kits she'd raised as much as Shule felt she had the right to at least try and forge a relationship with the kits who had been given away without her knowledge. Even if they chose not to ever come to the Regime, that was fine. The ebony feline just wanted the chance to be in their lives in some small way, if that's really all they wished for.
Though she could have probably gotten away with walking straight to their camp, the Superior sat herself by the border silently, tail curled around pristine white paws as she waited for someone to spot them. Recently, her own group had cracked down on trespassers, imprisoning those to wandered over the border. She couldn't really expect cats to take such a stance seriously if she wandered wherever she pleased, now could she? Moreover, she wasn't a mere Sentinel anymore. She had to think long and hard about each and every action she dared to take, for she was now directly in line to be Commander, if she was so lucky as to be given the opportunity.
Cadet Kaisra wasn't so composed as her mother. The multicolored she-cat bounced gleefully around, on and off the border without a care in the world, skipping excitedly as she waited for someone to find them. Would it be Etherealpaw? Darkcomplex or Glowstar? Had Cinnamonkit finally been promoted, or was her brother still content to play around without any sort of responsibility? Oh, she was so excited. She'd been busy, and the Regime was far more strict than even SunClan had been, and though she was shaping up to be a Mercenary that cats would rather avoid than battle, she hadn't lost her chaotic personality, happy to challenge the very rules that the Regime lived by any chance she had.
Illuminatedpath was out hunting, Windchaser had just recently given birth to several beautiful kits. He was chasing after a rabbit, a good plump one he was sure his mate would like. He finally started to gain on it as it neared the border and he leapt and caught it biting down on it's neck and ending it's life.
He let out a breath of relief setting it down and looking up spotting the cats waiting. He recognized Kaisra as one of Glowstar's kits.. or not Glowstar's kits and the cat next to her must've been her real mother. Windchaser had told him everything as he'd been out that day hunting.
He set his rabbit aside and went over to greet them. "Hello! IT's good to see you." He nodded to Kaisra before focusing on Shule. "You're the mother right? MY mate told me about the whole sticky situation, it was a bit tense." He let out a sheepish laugh realizing how awkward it was starting to sound. "Um, would you like to come to camp? I'm sure Glowstar and the kits would like to see you. I don't know if some of the ones who went to SunClan will be in today, but I'm sure Glowstar would send for them when she learns you've arrived." Should he guide them to camp, or go back to camp and send for Glowstar? He figured Glowstar would want to see Kaisra and he doubted Kaisra's birth mother would be okay not seeing her other kits. So it might just be best to bring them both to camp.

She didn't recognize the tom before her, and her crystalline eyes narrowed in the slightest bit of a wince at his comment. Ah, of course they'd know about that. At least he didn't seem to hate her for almost killing Glowstar over what had turned out to be a glorified misunderstanding. Not that it made her actions right, of course. All the same, the stoic feline rose to her paws, inclining her head in a cool nod. "That would be much appreciated." The Superior replied, "You can call me Shule, though if you've heard of my, ah, last visit, I suspect you might already know that. May I ask your name?" Perhaps she was acting a tad formal, considering the two groups had an alliance, and she was hoping to visit her kits, but as she'd been so off the handle last time, she wanted to reign it in, at least for the moment.
Kaisra giggled at her mother's frozen attitude, prancing around Illuminatedpath with excitement. "How's mom?" She asked, obviously referring to Glowstar. In many ways, she was Shule's opposite, clearly having been influenced far more by those who raised her than those she was entirely related to. Egyptian blue eyes sparkled with mischief and curiosity, taking in the land around her and observing how it had changed since she'd last been to DayClan.
The wheat suddenly stirred as Glowstar walked over in front of them. She looked Shule up and down at the border and took a moment to side glance at Illuminatedpath as though to say can you believe this?
"What are you doing?" Glowstar asked with an exasperated tone, but amusement sprawled across her face. She tilted her head back, "God, remember that total hardcore moment where you were like. Screw the rules! And you knocked my butt to the ground? I miss that Shule."
Mischief danced in her eyes, "Hmm, just this once, pretty pretty please, Shule, break a rule for me? Just walk in, no invite."
This wasn't anything short of a dare. She wanted to know just how much of a rule follower Shule was and when she made exceptions.

Shule paused slightly at Glowstar's arrival, waiting for the feline's reaction to her presence. It both was and wasn't what she expected. She always did forget that her sister-in-law was a particular form of indescribable insanity. Even Sean wasn't quite like his sister, though she had thought her mate crazy many a time before. For a moment, the feline stood still, watching the leader with a look somewhere between civil politeness, and one that suggested the green eyed she-cat had grown a second head. Gaze sinking back into practiced neutrality, she strode forward, hesitating only a moment to speak. "I'm going to be taking the kits out on a trip in the rogue lands. Why don't you join us and show me how it's done?"
It was always a dangerous idea to entertain anything an Eerie had to suggest, but she was used to being dragged into things by now. Sean had made sure of that. But this wasn't a physical fight, and thus, not something she could simply win through brute force. She had to play nice with the DayClan cats, even more so because Glowstar had kept her kits safe. If this could help, she supposed she could tolerate it, though she did wish she had her mate at her side. Of course, he'd probably warn her about spending too much time with his sister anyhow, so maybe this was better after all.
"Ha ha, you're an utter bane to my existence, let's go to camp," Glowstar said gleefully, but internally was trying to resist doing something stupid to provoke an action out of Shule.
Didn't Shule dislike that she had an outward personality of grass growing? Didn't she want to show off her wild side? On one side she hated the idea of Shule being that kind of influence on her kits. On the other side she knew that's exactly what Shule dreaded about her. But still, she always felt that no matter how chaotic she was, she was being herself and that was what was important. She could get past Shule being a rule follower, but what she couldn't get past was how Shule concealed herself away. She hoped none of her kits grew up thinking they needed to bury themselves away to become a better asset to the whole.
Glowstar turned around walking backwards, "Soooo, why the rogue lands? You know you're welcome to just waltz around in DayClan right?"

"I'm serious." Shule commented with a shrug, though she moved to trot at Glowstar's side. She was almost tempted to let the leader think she'd been joking more or less, but she wasn't really. "Join us, show me how it's done. I figured it would be nice to get away from the expectations, let them have a moment of freedom you can't quite get when you're surrounded by your clanmates." Even if DayClan was a lot more lax than the Regime, there was just something freeing about being away from it all for a little while. Besides the fact you could talk more freely knowing you generally wouldn't run into cats you knew.
"Yeah mom, come on! Dirt mom over here could use a little lightening up!" Kaisra enthused, grinning. Dirt mom, that's what she called Shule. It was more a joke than anything, and she knew her biological mother didn't quite appreciate it, but hey, it worked to distinguish her two sets of parents, so why not?
"You can't brighten up a shadow without killing it in the process," Glowstar retorted as if that made any sense, "And how what's done?"
Glowstar held a rare tired expression before subsiding into a gentle smile, "Yeah I don't know, maybe some other time. I think I'm knocking off a cold or something, I feel weirdly tired. I don't want you guys to catch it or for it to get worst so I think I'll just head out, but um. You guys can have fun."
Jealousy was like a disease, injected by Shule. If Shule hadn't come to DayClan she would never need to feel jealous, possessive, hateful, grieving. Every yucky emotion she could feel from the back of her throat. Was she just supposed to be okay with her kits leaving her? What did they see in Renegade Regime or Shule or Sean? What did they see in an hour of meeting Shule that made them leave everything behind? The questions haunted her to the point she knew that any answer she got would never be good enough. There was one fact that was resounding, who she was and the clan she had wasn't good enough for Kaisra and Serenity to stay. That was their choice, that was their right, but the loss ate her up inside, gnawed at her during the night.
If she couldn't be supportive, she'd only be negative in their lives now. The only right decision was to be honest so they would understand she didn't avoid them out of hate, but out of love so she wouldn't sabotage their spirits.
"Actually," Glowstar said, before they could get far, "I'm not really sick. I just feel sick all the time now, every time I think of what I had and what I lack. I used to sleep bad, having nightmares of my past, but when I had you, all I could dream about was the future. Now my dreams are sweeter than my reality because they have you and Serenity in it and I know whatever world I wake up into it'll never be as sweet as that dream because you two won't be in it. So I'm bitter and I hold no blame, but it's too much to act like I'm happy for you and I'm truly sorry for that. But I just can't shake the sickness I feel. So I don't want to ruin your fun, so please, enjoy your time here, you're welcome to some fresh kill, but... I have to grow up and get over this and unfortunately I'm just not there yet."
How... how was she supposed to respond to that? Kaisra found the cheery smile slipping off her face as her heart broke with each word her mother said. She hadn't left DayClan because life with her family hadn't been enough. She had left because of her curiosity. No matter how much she loved her family in the Regime, she could always envision herself returning to DayClan, living with Glowstar and her siblings and being happy. To hear that her mother was so bitter, so sick to look at her standing beside Shule that she couldn't even bring herself to spend the day with her own children.. was she wrong to be both infuriated and on the verge of tears?
The feline's expression fell into something cold, and now, with the chilly look of stone on her face in place of the usual chaos, Kaisra looked so, so much like Shule. She had been hoping to tell her mother of her adventures in the Regime, about how much she missed her and Darkcomplex, and her siblings, and DayClan. Now.. she sort of just wanted to turn back around. So much for telling Glowstar the good news, that Mars had approached her about being promoted to one of the Regime's Sentinels, and she had accepted. Gone was the thought that her mother would be there at her promotion, cheering her on and being proud of her for her accomplishments.
So much for 'not ruining her fun.'
The ebony feline walked stiffly past Glowstar, towards DayClan's camp without so much as another glance back, if only so Glowstar couldn't see the tears that started dripping down her face. "It's fine. I get it." She answered, her voice as soft as a mouse's, with the slightest hoarseness to it. No, she really didn't get it at all. Not one little bit. "Race you there, Serenity?"
And she was gone like a flash of lightning without waiting for his response. Kaisra raced towards camp at a dead sprint, as fast as her legs would move and faster, until she felt like she was flying through the air, until her mothers were but a speck in the distance and she was well and truly alone, until she could sob openly while she ran, knowing where she was only purely on instinct with her vision blurred by the tears.
Why couldn't her mother even pretend to be happy for her?
She felt her heart splinter at Kaisra's expression and she knew she'd never be able to forget the way she looked right through her. On instinct she wanted to say something, but deep inside of her memories from long ago told her she shouldn't say a word. Because this hadn't been the first time Sean had utterly detonated her life to rubble and ruins. Just the typical story of being in the Eerie family, Sean had murdered his mate, her best friend and she was left to raise his kits. Adanna hated her and Afreya loved the father that was never there. Of course when she had her own litter she never got to raise Senescence and Lucistic who were kidnapped from her so there was another litter she was never able to raise. Now a third, suspiciously like the first, given to her by Sean. Only this time was a special kind of screw you because she never knew they weren't hers. Absolutely she was a jerk to Kaisra, but it wasn't fair that she had to be expected to be okay with this. She had no idea Shule would one day take them, she had no idea they weren't hers to have. Why couldn't she have had a last week with them? Why did Kaisra and Serenity have to leave her within the first hours of meeting Shule? But they were kids and she couldn't fault them. Life had never been fair, it was a get with the program kind of a thing that typically she could roll with, but for once she couldn't keep up with it.
In this moment she realized what she wanted was vengeance, justice, blood. Nothing cured heartache like a killing spree.
"I'm going to go on a killing spree in the city if you want to come," Glowstar said, inviting Shule to tag along.
"You know, I think I just might." Shule's voice sounded far away as she watched her daughter leave. For once, she could actually claim to understand the chaotic leader beside her. She felt quite similarly, actually. They'd both lost their kits, ironically, to each other, and as much as she loved the kits who'd stayed in DayClan, it would be lying to say she wouldn't be happier if they decided to up and leave to join her in the Regime. That each and every one of their accomplishments here wouldn't be bittersweet, knowing they were happy to have never known her at all. She hated that love they had for Glowstar. But her desire for them to be happy outweighed her desire for honesty, and so she'd never admit to them how much it hurt. It wasn't their burden to carry.
"You have no idea how much that means to me," Glowstar said. She briefly rolled around onto the grass a few times before standing up, grass stained streaks covered her pelt and with a dangerous little smile she said "let's go."
Glowstar took off at a not too fast pace, but still at a runners speed.
Duskslayer had been vacationing in DayClan while Foxstar was gone when he noticed Kaisra stroll in, "Ugh, intruders these days," He grinned, "They think they own the place."

Shule paused for a moment to turn to Serenity with an apologetic, though still distant expression, as though she hadn't quite processed what was going on. "We'll be back at camp later. I'll make sure to bring you something for the city." She promised. Hesitating a moment longer, she tried to find the words for him to comfort Kaisra, but nothing came, not right now. Unable to find anything more to say, she turned slightly to the retreating Glowstar and bolted after her, sprinting to catch up before falling back to pace with her as she came to terms with what just happened.
Unfortunately for Duskslayer, rather than getting an enthusiastic response full of sarcasm, he instead had Kaisra tackle him full force, sobbing into his fur.
"So I'm guessing your the vigilante justice type and not the serial killing type? Basically I'm trying to measure your level of being a buzz kill," Glowstar teased, "Y'know I always figured I'd be able to tease you more than the average cat since you're with Sean after all. But I realize he probably acts more like a gentlemen and not an absolute sass like he usually is. Like, I feel when I talk down to someone it can come off funny to somebody, but he's just insulting for blood. Every insult is like a stab wound and most of the time they scar, just plain vicious."
She shook her head, "Any who I wanna say I'm in a kill anyone mood, but I think I want to keep it clean, only people who deserve it. Maybe a clean start does need a clean beginning..."
Duskslayer's turquoise gaze stared up at the sky with a numb expression, but his mind was moving faster than lightning. After a moment he gently pushed Kaisra off of him. He placed a firm paw over her shoulder, a darker look in his eyes this time, "Where is he? Whoever did this to you, I'll find him," His voice was calm, but echoed a chilling intensity, he was standing up and was ready to bolt after the first name he heard.
