Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Coyoteway moved throughout camp, a shadow slipping through the moving bodies and heading towards the she-cat sitting away from the rest. Holding a watchful eye over the camp, the sort of leader other clans might wish they had. Or perhaps not; Coyoteway had been lax recently in keeping track towards what the others clans were doing. "Burningstar." He purred, voice low, but casting over towards the other when he grew close enough. The toms golden eyes blinked innocently towards her which was enough a sign as any that he had ulterior motives.
Burningstar was grieving the disappearance of Lindon. He'd been her support and though she doubted theyd truly been in love. She'd appreciated his company.
When Coyoteway came up beside her she turned to him. She noted the look in his eyes. "Hello Coyoteway," she meowed. "Come to join me in watching over the clan?" Though the cenote and the cavern tucked beside it would make a fine new camp, Burningstar liked the little shelf tucked into the cavern of the waterfall camp. It gave her a view of the clan letting her watch over her cats.
"If saying I came to do that would put you more at ease then that is what I am here to do yes." He responded with a small purr of his own. Slinking his way to her side and sitting beside her. Long legs folding gracefully as the lean tom settled. The air cool from the waterfall and the cavern itself; a welcome relief from the heat of summer. "How are you doing though? I feel like I should ask that before anything else. A lot has been happening recently that could rattle any cat."
"I would be lying if i said the quake hadn't rattled my nerves as much as it had the territory," Burningstar admitted whiskers twitching half with sad amusement. "We lost many cats. Thistlebriar was killed rescuing my niece and Echopaw from the destruction of our old camp, many other cats were killed in the shifting territory. Kerrigan..." She trailed off, anger flaring in her amber eyes. Tasman had killed Kerrigan, but Kerrigan had been avenged. "Is gone. And Lindon's vanished." her expression fell at the mention of her mate's disappearance.
She took a deep breath, "But my clan needs me," She cast her gaze to the clan gathered around. "I can't afford to let some rattled nerves interfere." She looked towards him, "And how are you? It's a shame Bruniaberry had to retire, but Soaringbird says you've been performing admirably in the Black Hand."
Coyoteway grimaced slightly at the mention of his sisters retirement, in a way it helped in but he also feared it had him slipping back. His sister was no longer there to put forward candidate for the black hand but she was also no longer there to help their family keep a majority grip within the little group. He needed his kits ready to step up, but they had been softened by Stealthclaw; he would have to figure out something to push them.
"It is a shame, she'll be missed. And I knew I could always trust Soaringbird to flatter me to the right ears." He chuffed with laughter, even if it edged towards sounding forced. "I'm simply glad my kits made it safely." He did not mentioned Ancientpaw or Sacredpaw the two of his sons who had seemingly vanished assumedly killed. As if they had already been forgotten by Coyoteway, and perhaps they had. He was not a tom who considered grieving a useful venture.
"Your children though are looking promising. Springfawn, the leader of the black hand is handling the training of two of your kits, I imagine that's quite exciting. The possibility of your children joining the ranks of the Black Hand." Burningstar said with a purr of amusement.
She sombered up at the mentin of the loss of kits. "I am glad as well, my children are all precious to me. I couldn't imagine losing any of them." The ginger she cat said. "They'll be warriors soon." She mused. "They're already bigger than me, they grow up so fast."
"They will not be more skilled than you though." Coyoteway pointed out and gave a cheshire grin, "which means if you need to put them in their place it will be easily handled." It seemed to go over his head the difference in their tones when speaking of their children. The sides of possibilities towards parenting, Coyoteway a father more obsessed with his children's futures and Burningstar more concerned with her children's happiness. Two compare two of their offspring could prove interesting to an outsider. "And yes, I'm excited for one of them to prove themselves, but only one."
Burningstar chuckled, "Oh I wouldn't mind if they turned out stronger than me, I'd welcome it, it'd mean they will be strong enough to carry on even without me. And that's what I want, for them to be happy and be the best they can be. Besides Tuskblood is doing me proud as WaterClan's deputy, and Stagsteel and Fiercepaw are in SummerClan..." She sighed wistfully. "While I wish we were all together, I am happy knowing they are happy... though why do you want only one to prove themselves? We do have at least two openings, maybe more as Soaringbird might be musing over trying to persuade Rasputin for another litter." The ginger she cat said with a mrrow of amusement. "Makes me almost feel bad for Rasputin."
Coyoteway's expression twisted at the mention of Rasputin, personally he didn't trust the former Brookclan tom all that much. But then again Rasputin had yet to do anything to prove himself untrustworthy so perhaps that was more his own paranoia. "If encourages them to push themselves further if only one can make it into the ranks." He responded with a small shrug and crooked grin, amused by the very thought. "They get so much more devious when they are in competition, and I don't want them to team up together, it would make things unfair."
