Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Burningstar had been training Tenaciouspaw for a while now, and she felt he'd be a good match for the newly apprentice Ornatepaw. The remaining kit of Coyoteway's who needed to be apprenticed. She'd finished talking to Larkwing discussing the plans for the day before she went over to the apprentice den to fetch her two apprentices.
"Tenaciouspaw? Ornatepaw?" She called, "It's time for training,"
Tenaciouspaw had been very nervous about being the leader's apprentice, and even now he couldn't decide if it was an honor or a sign he was hopeless. Now he just had to learn if Ornatepaw was a hopeless mess like him or if he had real potential and then he'd know for sure. He took a deep breath, looked over at his companion, then scrambled out of the den. "Here!"
Burningstar nodded pleased amber eyes bright, "Wonderful, since Ornatepaw is new, I thought we'd go do some hunting. It'll be a bit of an adventure, cats are reporting the quakes caused a change in the territory. Itll be like an adventure!" She said with a purr.
He shuddered. "The quakes are g-gone, right?" Tenaciouspaw pinned his ears back. He had just started to learn the territory, and now it was all different! And what if there was another one? Shouldn't they leave?
"Hello Burningstar, Tenaciouspaw." Ornatepaw hummed in greeting as the japanese bobtail padded into view, pelt sleek. She had perhaps lost track of time while grooming it, but would never admit that to her knew mentor and partner. She was overjoyed to have the leader as her mentor, feeling like it would best help her with her ambitious goals.
Burningstar looked at Tenaciouspaw, she wasn't sure if the quakes were gone for good or not. She certainly hoped they were gone for good. Else NightClan could be in trouble. But she couldn't say that so instead. "StarClan have not foretold any other future incidents, and I am confident of NightClan's recovery. But for now we must focus on your training." She assured him turning her attention to Ornatepaw as she arrived. "Hello Ornatepaw. I hope you had a good rest, as we're going to be doing quite a lot tonight I imagine."
If she was confident he should be too, right? Tenaciouspaw inflated a little and even smiled at Oranatepaw's greeting. "Hi," he quietly whispered back. "Are you scared of the quakes too?"
"Father says fear is a state of mind and if I keep the right mindset that it's not something that can bother me." Ornatepaw responded as she glanced over to her fellow apprentice, her partner in her training. He didn't seem like much thought which was perhaps a little disappointing. She needed to keep up with her siblings, as Coyoteway had told her that only one of them would join the black hand. She wouldn't say she desperately wanted to join but she was also afraid of facing her fathers disappointment.
"While you should strive to not allow fear to control you, fear has it's uses. After all if we didn't have our fear we wouldn't heed it and be cautious in some situations. It keeps us wary, alert. But if you allow it to consume you you become paranoid." Burningstar headed towards the camp entrance stepping along the path out from behind the waterfall, "Now come, we have much training to do, we'll head to the clearing to practice some crouches, and then we'll shift to some basic battle training." She said cheerfully beckoning for the two to follow.
Ornatepaw trotted after her new mentor, turning her words over in her head. So different than her fathers own outlook, but as much as her father was something of a tyrant he was also encouraging of free thought and independence decisions. It would be something she would have to think on. Briefly she opened her mouth to mention having practiced some crouches with her father and then decided against it. There was no harm in going over them and seeing what Burningstar had to teach.
"Oh," he mewed. "Well, I must be really alert then!" Tenaciouspaw tried a proud little smile, though he couldn't completely convince himself fear was a good thing, or at least not his fear in particular. Maybe he just didn't know how to use it right. "Will you teach us to be proper scared?"
