Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
After hunting most of the day on his own, Lionpaw had finally had the chance to get off of his weary paws and eat something. He had brought all his prey back to the clan that he had caught, but he hadn't eaten all day. Partly it was because of the clan rules, but it was also because he had seen how hard his mother had been working lately. He wanted to do what he could to support her, even though he was only an apprentice. If that meant hunting he would hunt. If it meant cleaning out dens, he would clean out dens.
With a sigh, he settled down into a soft layer of moss outside of the camp with a rabbit that he had caught earlier. It was more than what most cats would eat, but he was going through a growth spurt. He was already taller than his mother, and with each passing day his baby fat was melting away to reveal the muscles underneathe.
"You sound like you've had quite the busy day." Twilightbell had taken a bit of time away from her little ones to stretch her legs. They were growing in size and energy every day and it was getting more and more difficult to keep up with them. They were just like she had been at their age though, eager and full of energy. Now that she had reached her twelfth moon, she had matured quite a bit. While she still held quite the mischievous streak and kit like energy, that energy was tempered with patience and maturity that had come from the difficult path she had walked thus far.
Now, she found herself sitting down beside the apprentice. "Mind if I join you?" Of course it might seem odd for the Soothsayer Promised to decide to spend time with an apprentice, but she had never really put much stock into such things. They were all members of SunClan after all. She fixed her large orange eyes on the apprentice despite the fact that she couldn't actually see him clearly. "Or is there something on your mind that is bothering you?"
Really Twilightbell was one of the last cats that he had been expecting. His mother and father had been to busy to spend much time with him lately, especially since she was expecting another litter soon. It was still a secret, but she wouldn't be able to hide it for much longer. As busy as they had been, he had assumed the soothsayer promised would be just as busy.
He moved over "Feel free to join me... if you have the time that is. I wouldn't want to take you away from your duties" he knew it was selfish of him to crave more time with his parents. They were both important cats, and the clan needed them to. Still it was hard to hide the sadness and exhaustion in his voice, but he didn't know her well enough to just spill everything that was weighing on him so easily.
"I hate to say that I've mostly been occupied with my little ones at the moment. Dragonswrath has been handling most of our duties here lately. This is what little time I get away from the nursery. She sat down and curled her fluffy black tail around her paws. While she did pick up on the fact that the younger tom was upset, she wasn't going to point this out. "You know, part of me wishes I was more involved with what was going on. It would make things easier for everyone involved if I could pick up my share of the duties. She then let out a huge yawn. "I suppose caring for my kits is now a part of my job as well. They will have a place and a purpose in SunClan just as we all do." She looked over at Lionpaw. "Even if it takes them a while to realize what that purpose might be." She was silent for a few moments more. "How is your training coming along? Has your mentor taught you anything interesting here lately?"
Speaking of Dragonswrath, he pushed his way into camp, sighing and flopping down against the edge of the camp. He had been busy pretty much the entire day with his duties. Most days weren’t as exhausting, but he had gotten behind and had used the day to catch up. He gave a nod to Twilightbell when he noticed her.
"Mom always says kits are the future" he replied rather unenthusiastically. She said a lot of things that didn't make a lot of sense to him, but he recited them all the same. They were words that had been spoken around him since he had been born, even though their deeper meaning was often lost on him.
"Honestly training has been rather boring. I feel like all I have been doing is cleaning dens, removing ticks, and making nests" honestly his mentor was probably to afraid to do much more with him knowing that if anything happened to Lionpaw his mother would have their hide "I got to hunt a few times, but its not something I really enjoy" he didn't like the feeling of ending a life. As much as he knew that the clan needed the food, he didn't take any pleasure in it. Each time that he had to kill prey he said a prayer, begging for forgivness and to help ease his concious.
"Then think of a way to make things a little less boring. If you go into it with the mindset that it is going to be boring and you aren't going to like it that is exactly how you are going to feel. Sometimes you have to think of ways to make things more fun." She still wasn't quite sure what was upsetting him, but that hardly seemed to matter at this point. "Training isn't all fun and games, but a lot of it is just how you look at things. If I've learned anything in the past few moons, it would be that." She had been through quite a bit recently but she liked to think she was finally coming out on top. Hopefully Lionpaw could do the same.
"I suppose your right..." he trailed off lookingdown at his paws. He had been trying to be positive, but it was wasier said than done. He was feeling more and more alone by the day, especially now that his sister had taken up with their biological father. The one who had left them behind just ot be with other she-cats.
"You know, when I was very young, about two moons old at most, I was separated from my father and my littermates when the Sun God sent a sign that I was to become a Janus. I was taken from the nursery, given my full name, and sent to the Janus camp where I lived under the supervision of the Soothsayer and the Soothsayer Promised. At the time my uncle was a Janus as well, but we were honestly never that close. It's funny to think how one can feel so lonely despite being surrounded by their clanmates isn't it?" Her gaze was focused straight ahead of her now. "Over time I have learned that sometimes you have to take the lead and make things better for yourself. It can be a little difficult to figure out how to do that at times, but once I figured out how to make myself happy without depending on others to do it for me, you would be surprised at how much easier things became."
"That must have been hard. I know I'm just being selfish, that my parents have important duties to attend to, but I can't help but wanting to spend more time with them. They are never around any more, and my sister is so obsessed with finding out about our biological father that she doesn't want to spend time with me either" he couldn't help but feel lonely, and even though he knew that Twilightbell was right he couldn't stop the ache in his heart.
"They mean a lot to me, but sometimes I don't feel like they the care about me the same way"
"Hmmm....Perhaps you should speak with them? If you don't tell others how you feel, it is easy to misunderstand their actions. I doubt your family means for you to feel lonely. They must love you as much as you love them." She stood up. "Sometimes we get so caught up in what we are doing that we forget what is important to begin with. Perhaps a gentle nudge is all they need."
He couldn't help but smile a little bit, she was probably right. His family cared for him, he knew that deep down "But what if hwat is best for me isn't what is best for the clan? Mom need to focus on other things right now, and without dad at her side im afraid she might crumble"
"Did you ever think she might be able to do both?" It wasn't easy, but devoting one's whole self to their duties was never a good idea. "Your mother is not as fragile as you might think. I'm sure she would want to hear what is on your mind. She can't do anything about something she knows nothing about. While her duty is to SunClan, families are what make up SunClan. You cannot have one without the other."

LIONPAW
THE LOVEABLE - SUNCLAN APRPENTICE
"I wish it were just that simple..." he trailed off. Perhaps he should tell his mother and father how he was feeling, but it didn't seem right. The two of them were so entangled in clan politics that it just didn't seem right. "My family isn't like other families, I can't just take them away from their duties because I'm feeling lonely. Mom has a lot on her shoulders... the war with the regime, Foxstar being captured, Leatherfern showing up, her being pregnant..."If I take her time lives are literally on the line. I'll talk to her... but only once things calm down a little bit"
