Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"What the hell is taking so long?" Storm growled, casting a dark glance at the territory around him. He'd been assigned guard duty at the border for the entire morning, which was fine, because Storm was nothing if not a normal combatant. What was not fine was that it was now mid-afternoon, and his replacement still hadn't arrived to start their shift. He was considering just leaving and letting whoever was supposed to be taking over get punished, but as much as he wanted to rest, he didn't have it in him to leave the border unattended. "Come on! It's guard duty, not rocket science!"
The pretty calico wasn't supposed to be out here, she was a charged. She wasn't supposed to be here without an escort and yet.. she wan't to see the territory. She'd been kept in one place for so long she wanted to see. It wasn't until she rounded the corner near the border and almost ran into the other cat that she felt a pit in her stomach. "Oh." She mewed, fear sparking in her golden eyes when she froze. "Hi."
Storm felt like he was about to have an aneurysm. "What the hell is even going on around here these days?" he fumed, the sight of the un-escorted charge apparently being the straw that broke the camel's back. "Am I just the only combatant left in the coalition or something? Why the hell are you just running around by yourself?!" He took a deep breath, trying (and failing) to calm himself down. "...Never mind, I guess." Although he knew the she-cat was a charged, her actual name was escaping him. "What's your name again?"
Aspen had taken a few steps backwards throughout the tom's rant, fear shining in her gaze as she fought the need to lower herself into submission. Her name? Still, it wasn't as though she blamed him for not knowing who she was, she had only called Absum Lux her home for a few sunrises now. "Aspen." She mewed. Clearly and calmly. Surprising for someone that seemed terrified and yet not surprising at all. If she mumbled or didn't speak loudly enough she would be punished. This was a rule.
Storm nodded, committing the she-cat's name to memory. If she was out here wandering around now, then who was to say it wouldn't happen again? "A'ight, so now we're in kind of a pickle, aren't we? I'm not meant to leave my post here until my replacement comes, but on the other paw, I'm not exactly supposed to be letting you wander around willy-nilly without an escort either. So, Aspen, it looks like you've put me in a hard position, hmmm?"
She'd expected far more of a punishment. Had been bracing for it in fact. Instead it seemed more and more unlikely. "I.. I can wait with you." Her gaze darted upwards, quickly reading the tom's expression before they once again found her paws. "I'm sorry to have caused you trouble."
Storm gave Aspen one of his patented Stern Looks before sighing and looking away. "Yeah, sure, fine, whatever," he muttered, gazing off into the distance awkwardly. "I mean, you didn't really cause me that much trouble in the end. The lazy, useless, worthless combatant who left me to rot on guard duty was the one who screwed me over," he admitted.
