The skinny she-cat had been staring at the small kittens squirming at her stomach for some time now, eyes glassy with exhaustion and fear. She'd not want to be thrust with the title of doting mother, but here she was. Nanashi had no choice. She sat there for a while, until the sounds of crickets caressed her ears. Finally the kits had stopped moving, falling asleep after a long and tiring day. She wished she could. Restless now more than ever, she rose to her paws unable to sleep. Cold blue eyes suddenly alight with curiosity, she padded into the cool summer air. Stars were beginning to wink in the indigo, moon bathed light. She sat then, her bones jutting out and her ribs showing quite clearly beneath her silky fur.
She'd always been particularly skinny, but the recent months of trying to care for her growing kittens — and being too clumsy to hunt or fend for herself — she'd slowly lost a lot of weight. Now, staring at the fresh-kill pile, her stomach stabbed at her hungrily and her mouth seemed to water. If she didn't eat soon, she would starve herself and her kittens. But she had also grown up with a rough life, so she was very weary of taking prey before being offered it. So she merely watched with a relentlessly famished gaze, ears flicking back every so often as more cats headed in for the night.
She would probably wait for the last of the cats to finish their own meals, before getting herself something to eat.
William was taking a break from his own kittens, though they had luckily been thrust upon him already weaned. The black tom had gone for a quite hunt by himself, alone time was not something he had enjoyed in a while. His four children were a great spot of joy and pride for him, though he lived in constant fear of messing them up somehow. Luckily his mate Honey was willing to help out, even though they were not his own kits. Honey was trying to teach them how to swim in a shallow pool today and as long as everyone lived William would think it would be a success.
Seeing Nanashi staring at the prey, he dropped a small perch when he pretended to trip in front of her. Ignoring it he turned to the small pile of prey to drop off the other two fish he had caught. He kept a small kestrel for himself, enjoying birds over any other type of prey even if they were sometimes a pain to catch compared to other BrookClan prey. He sat down to eat his own meal and kept an eye of the skinny queen.

If she were tempted enough, she might have actually drooled. The gray feline's eyes had instantly zoned in on the fish. If she'd been tempted enough to, she might have started drooling at the scents drifting towards her. Fish hadn't always been her favorite prey; but right now the food smelled delectable. her stomach even gave a pitiful sounding noise, one that made her pelt flash with embarrassment. Quietly, she peeled her gaze away from it to find the tom that had dropped the prey. Her pelt instantly prickled when she saw he was watching her, and she fixed her gaze stubbornly on the dusty ground in front of her. Was he trying to trick her? Would he scold her, if she dared touch it? She knew how silly it probably seemed to Clanborn cats. But her natural instincts wouldn't die down so quickly.
