Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Tails-kedi was the runt of his litter and for the most part, the outcast of his siblings. Although they had only joined a few weeks prior Tails couldn't help but notice that his siblings, in particular Sonic and Shadow, received much more attention from the older cats while he was mostly overlooked. The suckling couldn't help but feel a sliver of resentment towards Yumemi, the she-cat who had stolen them away from their upwalkers and brought them to the ruined part of the city. He would never voice these complaints out loud though, since his other siblings seemed happy to cast their old lives aside and live a life of excitement within Absum Lux. Tails, on the other paw, had loved long naps in his cozy bed at the upwalkers house and had enjoyed the taste of the squishy food that their upwalkers would feed them. He also semi-missed the weird feather trinket the upwalkers would wave in front of him, although he frequently tripped over his own paws when trying to catch the contraption.
He let out a sigh as he listened to the soft snores of the other sucklings and the sole caretaker echo through the cellar. He found himself pressing further into the sleeping Sonic's side in an attempt to get more comfortable, who happened to be snoring the loudest out of everyone. He never understood how Sonic could be good at everything. He was even great at snoring! While Tails wasn’t particularly good at anything. After a few more seconds of repositioning himself he let out another annoyed sigh before pushing himself to his paws and into a sitting position. This was no bed. Yumemi had called it a bed, but it was nothing like the bed the upwalkers had provided. It was just some grass with added feathers for comfort. He couldn't help but feel like he might as well be sleeping outside.
Lane-kedi watched Tails-kedi out of the corner of her eye, from her position off to the side of the cellar. She could tell the young kit was feeling down; she was the youngest of her own litter, though she wouldn't really call herself 'the runt'. No, Tails definitely had it worse than her, in that regard. She'd heard that weirdo sage Yumemi had taken - no, stolen them from a loving home in the city - probably to impress the coalition's newest heda, who happened to be Lane-kedi's very own mother. Barf. As if anyone would ever be able to impress Shae...
...She was getting off topic. Was there anything she could do to make Tails feel a little better, a little more at home? A better question would be to ask why she would even bother. But now Tails was shifting around like he was trying to get comfortable, like he - oh, and there he goes, sitting up, Lane thought, pushing herself up into a sitting position as well. Time to do something I'll regret later. Plastering on her usual wide grin, she padded over to the young tomkit, taking care to not step on any tails - heh - on the way. "You going somewhere?" she asked, blinking her eyes blearily in an attempt to make it look like she actually had been asleep.
The voice of Lane-kedi startled Tails slightly as his fur bristled up and his tail straightened, but then he his fur smoothed out as he realized who it was. "S-Sorry...if I woke you I mean...." he mumbled out, his ears pinning flat against his head and his gaze drifting towards the ground. His ears only perked back up at the she-cat's question. "I-I... well... I mean I know we're not supposed to leave the shelter without permission.... but..." his gaze angled towards the concrete stairs as he bit the inside of his cheek. Was Lane going to tell on him?
Lane-kedi shook her head. She hadn't been sleeping anyway, but that didn't mean she wanted the pair of them to wake everyone else up with their conversation. "I won't tell if you don't," she said with a sly smile, heading carefully towards the stairs. "You look like you need some fresh air, anyway. C'mon, no one's awake at this hour," she added, resting atop the third or fourth stair. Truth be told, she could use some air as well. Her own siblings managed to tire her out even when they were sleeping - just their presence beside her was enough, apparently.
Tails-kedi allowed a large smile to cover his muzzle as he bounced up the stairs after her. "Thanks for this." He whispered once he got onto the same step she was resting atop. "You lead the way... since I don't really know the territory too well yet."
Lane-kedi flashed him a confident smile. "Who said I knew it?" she asked, though she was mostly kidding. Mostly. They left the cellar and padded out into the graveyard, and Lane gave a brief sigh of content as she felt the night air gently ruffle her fur. "See? Fresh air. Cures everything," she called out in a low voice, careful not to alert any combatants who might have been prowling around - or Lane's own mother, though Lane felt that the heda might have better things to do on a night like this than run around after her kits she didn't care about. "Let's go this way," she added, motioning with her tail to a dusty path leading away from the city. "Less cats around, probably."
He felt his heart drop to his stomach as the she-cat claimed to not know her way around either, but the anxiety quickly faded away when she flashed him a smile that said I'm just kidding. SHe followed after her up the concrete stairs and paused slightly when he felt grass under paw. Tails-kedi closed his eyes and allowed a small smile to slip on his muzzle as the night wind ruffled his pelt. The air was cool, burning his lungs slightly as he inhaled it deeply, but the burning sensation only reminded him that he was alive. His ear twitched as Lane-kedi spoke. "Yeah. I agree. It feels nice." he purred out. He didn't open his eyes until the suckling motioned for him to follow. "Where are we going?" He asked.
