Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. Shae blinked, unsurprised that this was how they ended up. There were so many ways to answer it, too. Her gaze shifted from Yumemi to the distance. It had been a long time since her origin story had brought her pain, but it wasn't something she said often. Not that she wouldn't if she was asked, few just bothered to ask. It was more fun to speculate, anyways.
"When I was younger, my parents and I lived in an abandoned two-leg nest. It was an old thing, and during a storm, the roof was hit by lightening. None of us were harmed by the strike, but it started a fire." She let the tip of her tail flick back and forth. "The fire spread quickly, too quickly for us all to realize. By the time I woke up, the whole thing was up in flames." She spoke in a dramatic way, her voice rising and falling as she spoke. "When a cat faces death, instinct takes over. My only instinct was to get out of the inferno. The scars are burns that I sustained in my frantic attempt to get out." Her whiskers were the next thing to twitch. She could still feel the heat on herr pelt, smell the smoke in the air any time she thought too hard about it. "I watched from outside as the house collapsed. My parents didn't make it out."
