The black she-cat padded alongside her son through the encampment, the occasional passersby stopping in their tracks to turn and bow in respect towards the tsar and her protege. She knew he had questions; she didn't blame him. She was only a kadet when she was handed the throne and expected to lead the kingdom into greatness. It was a lot to expect from someone who had just found out she had another mother. That she had a father. She shook her head a bit to rid herself of the thoughts. She and Thoren had made it a point not to overwhelm their son – her heir – with such responsibilities. She wasn't the best parent, she knew you wouldn't have to look hard to find someone who much better deserved the title of 'world's greatest mother', but she tried to express her love in what ways she could.
Continuing their walk through the winding trails, slowly leaving the encampment with its halls and courtyard and heading deeper into the trees as they began to grow thicker, she glanced at Forseti. BrookClan encouraged their young to adventure, but the young tom would have much more experience in this field with his title and the expectations placed upon him. He was only a podarok, but he would be receiving his training to one day take the crown. She wasn't going to let up.
"I know you have questions." Came her cold voice, though she tried to soften it as best she could – to no avail, unfortunately.
His small legs worked hard to keep up, and he couldn’t shake the wish that she would just slow down. The young tom felt almost as if his entire life was already paved out, as if he didn’t have much choice of what would happen in the moons to come. He was young, but... he felt as if he weren’t.
Forseti was silent as Loki spoke, for now, deciding to be obedient and observant.
Her emerald eyes flashed. Though it wasn't apparent, it was her way of allowing him to speak; knowing that he was moving against her, she found anger rise within her. She fantasized, quickly, the idea of snapping at him; of giving him an impromptu training session in battle technique. She thought better of it, however, and continued on their walk. "You are important in this world, Forseti, whether you fully realize it or not. The future of our people rests with you." She looked at him. "Have you been practicing your exercises?"
I’m important. The words lingered in his head, a crushing weight for such a young kitten. His eyes glazed over as he worked his legs harder, the muscles screaming at him to stop, the burning growing intense. It was his first time out of their den, and he had to admit, it was very...
His thoughts trailed before her question hit his ears. “Yes, of course.” He mewed back, his voice feeling rather small compared to hers.
