"But I want it to be extra good for Squirr--" He broke off awkwardly and gave the ginger warrior a cheeky grin. "I mean the elders." He glanced to the side, giving away the lie easily although he didn't notice it.
Chim snorted, the corner of his lip curling distastefully. "Squirrelpool would be delighted if you brought her a pile of mud." He might remember his first apprentice fondly, but he still thought she was a mousebrain sometimes.

Breezepaw glanced at his paws and shuffled them for a minute. "You really think so?" He asked, completely serious this time. There was no denying his feelings for the grey and white she-cat. "D-do you think she'll ever like me? I think she's so awesome and kind and fun..."
"I didn't come out here to discuss apprentice problems," he snapped testily, "and I really, honestly, from the bottom of my heart, do not care one way or the other what happened between you two. And you shouldn't waste your time either, not that you'll listen to me, but all of that romance is a waste of your time. Focus on being a warrior and just forget about it."

For once, Breezepaw appeared to be crestfallen as the warrior snapped at him. His ears flew back on his head and his eyes trailed the ground. He's just upset. It's not my fault. The young tom tried to cheer himself up, but it wasn't working. "I'm sorry." He spoke hoarsely, as if it took an effort to even get the words out.
He ground his jaw as he refused to look at the apprentice or give into his pitiful expression. With a huff he stalked on without him, making it nearly a tree-length before the soft apology caught his ear. He didn’t regret what he said— but he wasn’t heartless either, and he didn’t like to see a young cat break.
“Fine,” he muttered, glaring back, “fine. Get back up here and wipe that damn look off your face and tell me about your grand plan to sweep her off her jaws.”

Breezepaw stared at the ground for a minute, half-depressed and half-stunned at Chim's reluctant statement. He looked up slowly, revealing the smile plastered to his muzzle. "Aw, I knew you couldn't be too angry at me Chimerahunt!" He purred, skipping up to the warrior. "Truth is, I don't know how to sweep her off her paws. She always seems out of my reach."
Ah, look at that, he was regretting this already. He really wasn’t qualified to give romantic or emotional advice. “Well that’s the thing about Squirrelpool, she doesn’t care if you’re a warrior or apprentice, she’ll hang out with you anyway. Like it or not. And if you ask her to do anything with you she’ll agree, unless she passes out from excitement first. And then just...” he shrugged. “Woo her, I guess.”
