Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
A laughter had been heard throughout the city throughout the night before. It had been a low laugh, maniacal, the kind of laugh that warned of danger. If cats knew any better, perhaps they would have decided to run while there was still time for them to run. They should have headed the warning that came in the breeze. Their chances to get out were now over. The monster had been released. She had wandered over the land that was finally hers and hers alone the night previous. Now, it was time to let the other's know their fate.
It was iconic that the beast was taking her throne on the night of the new moon. A night of complete darkness, one where even the stars failed to break through the cloud cover. Perhaps, some would see this as an omen for what was to come. Those cats would not be wrong in their assertions that Absum Lux was about to change, become its name sake: without light completely.
It had been a long time coming, that this particular beast would rise to the top. This was not the first time that she had come close to the throne. She had manipulated her way up the ladder more than once before. Each time, though, the universe had stepped in. It had prevented her from ascending to Heda. After so many attempts, it appeared that the universe was tired. It was tired of telling her know. The cat had proved that she was not going to give up, so instead, the universe had. It had finally given her the reigns. The universe, too, had made a mistake.
Shae blinked her eyes as she looked around the cats that she had called. The right side of her face was pulled into a smile, the left forever frozen. Her pale blue eyes blazed like the fire that had crippled the nerves in her non-dominant side. Her tail wrapped around her paws, although the very edge flicked slightly.
"Cats of Absum Lux," the feline meowed, "I have an announcement to make."
Kallie moved with grace as she slipped between the crowds, sitting tall in the front right by her mother. Her frame was small and hair groomed to perfection, just like how she would like it. She only hoped, at least.
Polyphemus made his way through to the middle of the crowd, blending in with the rest, doing his best to stay as far away from Siren as possible.
Bri found herself next to the cat with one eye. She, too, often spent most of her time trying to avoid her mother as possible, but, from the looks of it, she wasn't about to have that luxury much longer. She sighed inwardly. This was probably the last thing that she, or any Absum Lux cat, needed.
"What do you think she's about to say?" she asked the feline next to her, trying to make casual conversation to calm her impending sense of doom.
Pluto rested in the shadows, a loyal supporter of their new heda, and yet one of the most questioned on that front. How loyal was their High Sage? He'd seemed close with their previous heda, Jezi. But then, he'd distance herself near the end of Jezi's leadership. So where did he stand now? The tom himself knew he would be tested, he wondered how, wondered who of the clan would be as well, for if him then surely others would be tested. For now, he would wait and show his loyalty where he could.
His dark forest fur blended well within the shadows of his spot. He was visible to all, but merely a shadow close to where Shae resided. It was the same spot he'd taken in all the previous meets, one he'd dubbed as his moons ago. All who knew where to look would always find the High Sage here, next to the Heda to her left hidden within the shadows.
Yumemi-kepa eyed Pluto hesitantly, unsure of her standing with the High Sage. She was a fairly recent addition to Absum Lux, and hadn't really formed much of a relationship with him yet, and her relationship with the newest Heda may as well have been nonexistent. She was the sage now, but was she supposed to stand up there with them, or find her own seat? She opted for somewhere in between, awkwardly at the front of the crowd yet with a solid distance in between them. ...Maybe I just look even weirder now.
Pluto glances over at his sage, curious Aston has he was over there but not caring enough to speak up about it. She’ll do as she wishes. Who was he to tell her where she was to sit in moments like these? His eyes turned away from her and back to Shae.
Siren rested not far out of the nursery, eyes trained half on those around her but mostly in search of her older children. But the rest of the time it was on the kits playing besides her. Soon the meeting would begin and she would expect nothing less than perfection from them and that included them sitting still, calmly beside her while paying attention to Shae.
"Today, we start a new chapter in Absum Lux history," the new Heda began. Her tail twitched in amusement as she watched those gathered below her. This was all she wanted. She had wanted cats to bow to her, ti sit under her, look up to her power. This was the moment she had been waiting for. "From this moment forward, I am your Heda."
From her slightly awkward position halfway between the staff and the crowd, Yumemi-kepa grinned. She kind of felt like applauding, or yowling out some encouraging phrases to Shae, but for some reason she got the impression that the new Heda wouldn't be particularly impressed if she did so. She settled for a small woop! of endorsement, before immediately deciding that had been a bad call.
From her position slightly off to the side of the sucklings, Lane-kedi watched her mother speak to the crowd with her usual expression of bland content. It was in direct contrast to the turmoil she felt within; Shae had been bad enough before, and now she had all the spiritual power of the Wanheda to back her up. There was a slim chance she and her siblings would be able to swing favour their own way - Wes would likely thrive with a Heda for a mother, and Lane herself would perhaps not be too badly affected, but she worried for Kallie and Finn's futures in the coalition, if the coalition were to be run by a mother who, behind closed doors, absolutely detested most of her children.
Pluto did bow, only his head in a sign of respect but it still spoke louder than words could for him. The tom rose his head after a moment, eyeing the crowd, searching for who was with them and who was against. He was glad to see his own apprentice was excited about such a change, good less hassle for him then if they were on the same page. Others where still to be determined.
