Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The voice was familiar, and although she couldn't place it, she felt hate resonate in her. A strange feeling since no one was bothersome enough to take her close to that feeling.
The sound of kits mewling drew her closer as fuzzy memories of kits came to mind, but the backgrounds were too bright to see in her memory and the place so unusually foreign she couldn't determine where it had been at. She awoke, groggy for a moment, until she felt the ground beneath her pelt and the scent of SunClan and soon she stood up. Too fast, darkness clouded her sight, but she didn't feel weak. Slowly the cats and location around her began to materialize as she became familiar with her surroundings. Disoriented still Glowstar took a careful step back, as usual flight or fight had chosen fight and without any memory as to why she was here she could feel a surge of anger ripple through her. She shivered at the natural emotion, so instinctual, she hardly ever got any natural emo- aaaand it was gone. The moment she latched onto any emotion and thought too much about it the feeling would disappear sending her to her too calm and free spirited self.
"What happened?" She managed to say almost sheepishly with an amused smile at her own confusion.
The High Priestess sat at the entrance to her den, conversing with Darkcomplex as Glowstar woke, though the fox-pelted feline didn't initially seem to notice. Rather, she seemed vaguely concerned, but calm, her tone reassuring as she spoke to the tom Glowstar had entered an arranged marriage with not too many moons ago.
"Will she be okay? She's been in and out of it for the past few days. Are you sure she'll be alright? I don't know how I'll raise our kits alone if something happens..." Darkcomplex trailed off, breath catching at the idea of losing his beloved mate. Perhaps Glowstar's heart belonged to another, but his was devoted to her in every way, and the thought of losing her so soon after having their kits was unfathomable. They'd had so little time together. For a moment, the tom paused, staring down into camp with a look of confusion on his face at the thought of his kits. He and Strikhendoniadalisay had kits? As quickly as the thought had entered the Warrior's mind, however, it was gone. Of course he had kits! Hadn't he watched her give birth? Watched her struggle with a pregnancy her body wanted to reject? It must just be the sleep deprivation, it was getting to him. He'd been really out of it the last few days, he could tell. And who could blame him? He didn't want to leave her side, not in this state.
"She'll be fine. I even had Mountainsound take a look at her, just to be sure. The complications of her birth were minor, luckily, and she should be fine soon enough. Her body's just recovering. For now, Strikehendoniadalisay just needs you to be strong for your kits until she's feelin-" Foxstar's comforting words fell to silence as Green spoke, the pair turning to the queen, to see her not only awake, but lucid and sitting up! Darkcomplex looked downright stunned, and for a moment, even Foxstar's gaze flickered with surprise, though the she-cat was quick to offer a smile and a slight chuckle. After all, this was Glowstar they were talking about. Going from bedridden one moment to completely fine the next should have been expected.
"Slow down there, Senator. You're still recovering, we don't want you passing out again. Your Immortal Council will flay me alive if I let you run amok so soon after kitting." The she-cat rose to her paws, trotting towards Glowstar and immediately beginning to check her and the kits over. They were fine, if annoyed at their mother's sudden movement and the loss of warmth. The DayClan leader seemed alright too, her vitals were back to normal, though she seemed a bit disoriented. Not unexpected, given the circumstances. "Of course, Rift might do that for them anyway, so it's probably good you're awake. They might get it in their head that I tried to hold you captive again. And right now, you and your kits don't need that kind of stress."
"Wait, who's kitting? Whose kits are these?" She said lifting up her paws a bit noticing the kits near her, but soon her paws felt heavy again, the adrenaline rush that at first powered her with strength was now leaving her body. Seeing that there was no fire and things seemed normal enough given what normalcy was in her life. She couldn't piece together why the kits were by her, but nonetheless kitties were adorable. She slowly slumped back down, her gaze weakened, faltered and fell away from Foxstar's. Delicately she picked up one of the kits and placed it between her paws and into her chest fur. Her new buddy. Her chin fell into her paws and given her state she wasn't even upset about her weakness, she felt even a bit out of it. Off her game so much that she wasn't even tense despite not knowing how she got there. She didn't know the kits were hers and given how her last kitting she didn't show any signs of pregnancy it wouldn't be a stretch for her to realize they were hers. What was a stretch was who the father was. Deal had been gone for moons so they wouldn't be his, the only cat they would belong to would be Darkcomplex and perhaps that was so out of reach that it was why she hadn't yet pieced things together. That and the fact she was pretty infertile and even if she did have a kit they likely wouldn't survive. The fact that there were so many there was little to no reason for her to assume that she had an unexpected litter of six.
She noticed now Darkcomplex in the corner, "Oh hey," She said with a casual wave of her paw to acknowledge his presence.
"Your kitting! These kits are ours!" The words escaped from Darkcomplex's mouth before Foxstar could so much as open her maw to respond, the startled expression morphing once again into concern, and perhaps just a bit of hurt. She couldn't remember anything about having kits? His claws dug into the ground, unsure. There wasn't anything he could do if she didn't remember, though she'd been so out of it for the past few days, perhaps it was simply temporary...
"As he said, the kits are yours. You've been drifting in and out of consciousness due to some complications with your kitting, though Mountainsound said you should be well enough soon. Don't you remember?" Foxstar pulled back to search her friends face critically, as if expecting that this were some sort of prank. That would be like Green, to pretend to forget just to give her mate a heart attack, and then do a big reveal. Even so, the ivy eyed Priestess didn't suspect her friend of lying this time. "You were visiting when you went into labor. We barely managed to get you in here in time. You passed out not more than a few moments after naming the kits. Darkcomplex has refused to leave you and the kits since." She offered a slight smile, one that truthfully let slip a touch of irritation, as this wasn't exactly the warrior's den, meaning he'd been quite insistent if Foxstar of all people allowed him to stay the past few days.
"What?" She turned to look at Darkcomplex like he'd gone insane and then remembered he probably was just a little insane since he got forced into an arranged marriage and was apart of a cult, "Dark. These literally can't be mine. I can't have kits, I literally don't have any milk right now, because I can't have kits. And these can't be mine because they're not Deal's. I wouldn't betray him," She said it with certainty, but as her gaze drifted towards the kits she couldn't help, but lose that confidence. The kits did have their fur colors and they were incredibly tiny. If they were hers then they would be small. Rift was especially tiny as a newborn kit, but grew past her height. Maybe these kits would do the same.
But still she wouldn't have betrayed Deal... But still she didn't have any memory and if it had been days that was a long time to drift in and out. She named them too? Clearly there was a part of her that did react and did think. Her eyes moved to Serenekit, blinding snowy white fur. Still weak, but not deterred, in a single motion she picked up Serenekit and placed him onto the ground, rolling the kit awkwardly on the grass. A shadow crossed Glowstar's face. Serenekit's fur was toppled in grassy green stains. There was a reason Glowstar had acquired grass stains, but most other cats could walk for miles and still not get stained green. Her white fur was incredibly white, it was easily imprinted, any amount of cleaning it off did little to nothing. Her first litter of kits all had darker fur, never acquiring the trait. But if these were her kits and they had white fur, they'd have it. And they did... What were the chances another kit would have it?
Glowstar stared at Serenekit, off her game this time. Tears drew tracks down her face as she wiped at her eyes with her paw, a slow but genuine smile crossed her lips looking back at Foxstar and Darkcomplex, "I'm so happy..."
She loved kits and really there wasn't much she didn't like about Darkcomplex. But she betrayed Deal. He was her best friend who never used or betrayed her. Never asked for anything out of her. Someone she promised to not let down and meant it. Yet she couldn't help herself...
"You said you had a litter once before, right? Well, it seems the Sun has blessed you with another." Darkcomplex murmured, daring to sit himself beside Glowstar, taking one of the kits between his paws and cleaning the she-kit's ears, observing the young kitten and her beautifully dark fur, with it's shimmery purplish wisps. "This is Harmonykit." He explained, recalling briefly their first meeting and Strikhendoniadalisay's like of such ironic names.
"You're right about your milk not really coming in, but now that you're awake, you can start taking borage, and that should hopefully help. If not, I'm sure that other queens would be more than willing to help out if you need it, until your kits are old enough for prey." Foxstar stared at the kits more than her friend, expression mixed. On one paw, she got such powerful kits for her own, on the other, they were certain to be insane. At least they would be hers, she supposed. Let them unleash their insanity on the other clans. After a moment, her gaze rose to Green and her tears, not exactly the most sentimental type, and therefore unsure as to how to respond to her friend. "As you're a SunClan Senator, these kits are officially members of the clan as well, though you're free to take them between here and DayClan as you wish."
She had to find Deal, tell him the truth because he deserved to know. But Vera would never let her get close and likely, if she wanted Deal to know this information, Vera wouldn't share it. Thinking, Glowstar dabbed her paw against her eyes, "I'll take them for a moon to enjoy, but after that DayClan will suffer from leafbare with little to no prey."
Her paw touched Darkcomplex's face affectionately. She didn't love him the way she loved Deal, but it didn't take long for her to understand that he was a father. He deserved communication and to love them, "You don't deserve to worry about them like that. Let me have them for a moon to love and when the first snow falls I'll send a patrol over with them because I know they'll be well fed and cared for here."
Normally, she wouldn't give them over to SunClan so easily, but they were Darkcomplex's too. Looking at his excited face, the way he gently nurtured them with his warmth. He loved them. Normally she would have a lack of care, but when it came to family it was always different. Her own mom kept her away from her father and if she had the choice she'd have stayed with her dad. Her kits deserved to know Darkcomplex. She looked back at Foxstar, a dark chaotic grin descended from her lips, her head gestured to perfectly shadow away the expression from Darkcomplex. Almost as if her saddened behavior were an act given how easy she returned that dangerous look back to Foxstar, "You know. You're as dishonest as they come, Foxy, but that's the nice thing about you. I can predict you to be a corrupter for these kits. Someone to not trust and to look out for." She leaned in closer, her whisper tickling the sides of Foxstar's ear, "But Darkcomplex, he's not like us. He's... Purer than us and in a way, I'm more frightened about him raising the kits than whatever you'll do to them. And you know I love being scared."

"They're your kits too. Make sure to come visit them often." He understood where she was coming from, not wanting to risk their kits' lives. At the same time, he was sad they wouldn't know their mother as much as him, at least while the winter lasted. He appreciated that she would not only ensure their safety, but let him be an actual father to them, rather than them getting split up. Of course, if she'd suggested anything else, he probably would have just traveled with them back and forth as they came and went anyway, so this wasn't too much different, she supposed. Darkcomplex chose to ignore her comments to Foxstar however, his face offering a placid smile at her suggestions. She was right, of course. Darkcomplex expected Foxstar to make the kits work for her, which he couldn't really refuse. He could do his best to keep them intact throughout everything, however, and he would defend them with his life.
A faint laugh escaped Foxstar's lips, and she smiled slightly. "Knowing your other kits, my influence is entirely unnecessary. I hope you enjoy watching them grow. I know I will." She purred in response. At the end of the day, they both knew these kits were simply pawns to the Priestess, that she only set the pair up in order to have a more solid claim to the kits. Of course, Glowstar's rank in SunClan gave her all the claim she needed, as kits born of a SunClan cat were required to grow up in SunClan, even if the other parent was from another clan. Foxstar wanted the strongest, deadliest cats for her own, and the Eerie family was full of them.
Glowstar gave Darkcomplex a sympathetic look, "I have a clan to lead Dark, not only that, but once leafbare hits there will be endless blizzards. I won't be able to cross over to see you or the kits. I know I have a council of deputies who can care for the clan, but during the leafbare moons I'm one of the few who can fish where we can find water that can thaw enough to fish through. Make sure the kits talk back to you, and have no regard for authority. I'm serious. I know it sounds like I'm doing this just to get on Foxstar's nerves, but an obedient Eerie is a dangerous one. My mate was a loyal soldier and although he was Primal Instincts finest he did turn on his leader and everyone around him, nearly killed me too. There just appears to be something about us that if we're kept too restrained we snap and I know Foxstar will believe she can control it, but she'll find out too late that she can't," She paused and then grinned at Darkcomplex with a friendly bump across the shoulder, "So you know, just try your best not to start an apocalypse, you're gonna do great!"
She picked up Serenekit and walked back inside placing him down with the rest, but this time looked a bit unhappy. Nonetheless she curled up around the kits, but left room for Darkcomplex to lie down with her in the nest. Even if they weren't mates, they were parents. Regardless of the doubts she had that they were his, he was going to be there for the kits and raise them and that's what a real dad would do.

Now a dangerous glint appeared to Darkcomplex's own expression. "I wouldn't have it any other way. Don't worry, they'll be especially troublesome if I have my way." He agreed. The tom had joined the clan initially, thinking he could game the system. He couldn't, and he was loyal, but all the same, that didn't mean he wouldn't show those kits every single loophole he could think of, and ensure they knew exactly how to cover their tracks. In many ways, Foxstar had chosen the best, and the worst cat, to be the kits' father. He was a threat in his own right, and would make sure the kits were as deadly as any Eerie, but at the same time, he would most certainly cause all the chaos and trouble he could manage without incriminating himself. Glowstar had instructed him not to start the apocalypse by making them too obedient and loyal, but he wondered if he'd manage to start one by doing the exact opposite.
He briefly wanted to suggest she could just bring DayClan here, or move them closer, but he doubted Foxstar would be for the idea, so he simply took the opportunities he had, laying down and curling himself around the kits as well, a faint, loving purr that contrasted his facial expression escaping his jaws as he did so.
(Maybe we can fas forward time to the present and how they're dealing with the situation with DC in SunClan while still trying to keep some normalcy with the kits? If you want to you can start the next post off with the present setting and invite everyone to this thread)
Glowstar glanced at him one last time, she was a mom for these kits and he was the dad. Were they kits going to understand that they weren't together, but technically by SunClan standards they would? That was probably asking too much, the kits would most likely see them as any other parents, together and happy. She knew that was all she wanted as a kit. But Dark and her got along, they were a team more than ever. So there probably wouldn't be too many complications. She lifted her muzzle up, "Hey Dark, I'm really happy I could give you a family. I'm sorry I can't remember much, but who cares, we'll make plenty new memories and we're going to rock at parenting," She grinned, resting her head back down. Who cared how it happened, facts were facts. Darkcomplex shared a wicked side like her and although it sucked that the kitting took her memories from her there was no way they weren't going to have fun with this.
