The air was crisp as it was when she last left camp. It had been many moons since she left and she had finally made the decision to return after no trace of her mother was around. It killed her to come back and see everyone without seeing her mother. She knew she had to carry on though, for she had a family to think about now. Her heart hurt as she padded out into the territory towards WinterClan. She just wanted to see if he would be there. She had to tell him. Her heart sank at the thought of him. She was now carrying lives that depended on her and she wanted to make sure both of the souls that created them knew them if that's what the one of the two wanted.
Her dark pelt shined in the afternoon light. The sun going down slowly made her feel warm on the inside as the memories of her leaving flashed back into her mind. She could remember the familiar presence that she would see and be with for many nights. Nightraven's blue eyes scanned the territory. It all looked so familiar.
He had left his clan to be with her, but she was gone. He had given up everything to be with her, had left his clan and set out for a new home, and he had come too late and her mother had died and she had left. There was no returning home, though; he would never be welcomed back to his old clan no matter how much he wished it. So Ghost had become a SummerClan cat, clinging to his old name as a memory of his past, but slowly learning to embrace the new cats he had found here. It wasn't the same... but it would be a start.
The setting sun was warm on his thick coat as he lay near the gathering corner where he was close between his new home and his old, letting the cold breeze drifting down the mountain reassure him. He knew he shouldn't tempt himself by coming so close to the icy territory but he couldn't help coming here sometimes. It wasn't just it reminded him of WinterClan, it reminded him of meetings with her. If he closed his eyes he could still imagine her scent, could picture her smile and the glow of her eyes. If only he left sooner, maybe things would have been different. He could have been with Nightraven...

The ground was so warm to her paws. The pads of her paws could feel the dirt and grass sink slightly as she stopped to remember the feeling of it being cold. She could remember is presence. It was haunting to her. She longed to feel his touch again. Her claws dug into the ground beneath her. She had never loved someone so much. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. Nightraven's nose caught something of a familiar soul. Her ears perked up as she opened her eyes. Her gaze went to the area of the gathering corner. What if he was there? Could she finally see him again?
The she-cat felt her legs move on their own, slowly at first to only get faster, the closer and the more thick his scent got. "Ghost" She whispered softly to herself. She finally had arrived to the gathering area.
His chin rested on his paws as he stared quietly into the vacant space. His ear twitched back at the soft sound of a voice, though he couldn't make out the words, and footfalls. The dark gray tom shifted, then rolled over and glanced behind him.

She stood there for a moment. The sight of him almost stopped her heart. The dark she-cat felt like she'd fall down if she moved. It was like as if she'd seen a ghost. Nightraven decided to take in a deep breath in once more. "Ghost...." She straightened up her back for a moment and took one step towards him.
"You're back." When she moved, it was like the spell was finally broken. He didn't remember standing but suddenly he was walking and then he was standing in front of her, eyes mournful and deep and disbelieving and full of love, and then cautiously he stepped forward to touch his nose to hers, hardly daring she was really there in front of him. "I didn't think you would come back," he breathed.

She smiled and purred gently, "I didn't think you'd be here.." Nightraven touched her nose to his and ran her flank up against his, rubbing her head to him gently. "I missed you more than anything..." The she-cat stepped back for a moment and took a look at him. "You haven't changed...You're still as warm as ever.." Nightraven couldn't help but laugh gently. Finally someone from her past was still here. She felt whole.
He tiled his head back and closed his eyes, savoring her touch. She was here, really here. "I wasn't going to be, but for some reason I was thinking of WinterClan all morning and I had to go visit," he murmured, dipping his head and nuzzling her. "Like someone was guiding me here to meet with you." Doubt tugged at his mind -- what if this was another hallucination? -- but he pushed it away. This felt too real, and he couldn't bear the thought of losing her again. "Where did you go, Nightraven?" His voice was pleading. "Why did you leave?"

Her heart hurt at the thought of her leaving him again. "I came back." She stumbled over her words slowly. "My mother....I went to find her with the rest of my siblings. I never found her..When I learned I was..." She straightened up her spine slowly to reveal her small belly poking out. "I came home..."
His head bowed at her story. He knew her mother had gone missing before he joined, so he had never really met her. He had only known Froststar and Ravenstar as the leaders of this clan. As she got to finishing he lifted his head slowly, hesitant and shocked. “Are you... are they...”
His head tilted to the side and then a low sweet rumble rose in his chest. "I'm glad to have you back," he whispered, burying his face in her neck. He was overjoyed to hear he might have little sons and daughters to spoil, but he was already choked by so much emotion at her return it was hard to look any more excited than he already was.
