Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Cardinalstar emerged from his makeshift den, he scanned the camp with his piercing green eyes, his warriors were working hard to restore the camp from the damage Cicero and his rogues caused. There was no doubt about it, Cardinalstar had a lot of work to do to bring the Clan back to its former state. There were changes he wanted to make, but first he needed to regain the trust of his Clanmates. He'd let them down time and time again but this time was different. He refused to fail his Clanmates again. There was something important he had to do this morning. A choice he had to make. He'd been thinking and going over options in his mind and he'd finally come to his decision.
He scanned the camp, looking for the cat he needed to speak to and it didn't take long for his gaze to land on Shadedsun. He strode confidently up to the other tom. "Good morning, Shadedsun. I'm talking a walk to the Japanese Garden and I'd like for you to join me." he said, offering a friendly smile.
A large black tom sat alone, running his rough tongue through his dense fur, his friendly yellow eyes scanning the camp as he finished with a few last licks to his shoulder. The camp was starting to look better now, more like home. This place hadn’t been home for a while and Shadedsun wasn’t doubtful when he said it was good to be back. His small ears perked as he sensed someone approaching, turning to see Cardinalstar. Shadedsun dipped his head respectfully. “Good day, Cardinalstar. Yeah, I’d be happy to go.” He got out, stretched out his muscles, and stood tall in front of his leader. His gaze travelled around camp once more before landing back on his leader. Shadedsun wasn’t completely sure whether to take the lead to the Japanese Garden or not, but evidently decided to go ahead anyway. He was curious as to what Cardinalstar wanted to ask, and prayed it was nothing bad.
Cardinalstar flanked Shadedsun on the way out of camp and headed towards the Japanese Garden. The Garden was sacred ground and he hadn't yet been able to inspect it to make sure Cicero didn't cause any damage to it. A large part of Cardinalstar hoped that the Garden didn't interest Cicero enough to hang about there during his stay in SpringClan's territory. "The camp is starting to look much better. Slowly getting back to normal. At least with summer fast approaching it won't be too hard to get the Clan back on its feet. I don't want to imagine the difficultly we'd have if Cicero took over during leaf bare."
He fell into pace beside Cardinalstar, his head raised high and his strides long. “Starting to feel like it used, a bit. It’s a definite that we’ll get back on our feet, we always do.” Shadedsun’s large yellow eyes cut into the sky, a milky blue today with clouds littered about. The sun warmed his pelt more than it had for, probably, moons. He shook out his black coat and purred his delight. The Japanese Garden was a special, sacred, and peaceful place and he usually enjoyed his time spent there. He found the whole of SpringClan territory quite peaceful, actually.
"I want to check on the Garden now that I finally have the time and the camp is half way put back together. I need to make sure Cicero didn't destroy it." he said, happy that Shadedsun had an optimistic attitude about the future of the Clan. "But I also had an important matter I wished to discuss with you." he stated, glancing sideways at the black tom as they entered the Garden. Cardinalstar stopped and glanced around, he could definitely tell that the rogues had been here but there was no serious damage done. He took in the beauty of the Garden for several moments and sighed with relief that their little piece of StarClan was still intact.
His heart seemed to skip a beat slightly at the leader’s words. Whether out of fear or excitement, he didn’t know. An important matter? Now he was completely intrigued. The Garden was mostly intact, a relief, really, as it was their most sacred place. A spiritual place. Shadedsun stopped beside his leader for a moment before wandering into the Garden, taking a spot where the sun shone brightest. He relished in the warmth. “Well, I’m now all ears.” He twitched his own.
Cardinalstar took a spot near the pond, he glanced down into the water, the pond didn't support any forms of life, so it was odd that StarClan chose this spot to connect with SpringClan, but who was he to question their judgement? He sighed before beginning to speak again. "I would like you to be SpringClan's deputy." he said, moving his gaze from the water and onto Shadedsun. "I know I've made a lot of wrong choices recently and most of the Clan no longer respects me and rightfully so. But have proven to be loyal and hardworking and I need someone like you to help me lead the Clan." he stated, waiting hopefully for Shadedsun's reaction.
Taken back for a moment, Shadedsun tried to catch the whirling thoughts that ran around his head. Deputy. Him, deputy. He said nothing for a few heartbeats, trying to gather up his thoughts and emotions. Could he be deputy? Was he good enough? Strong enough? Brave enough? Don't act like a fool, it's a big deal, yeah, but don't be dumb. He told himself, his mind pushing words out of his mouth before he even knew what they were. "Deputy?" He finally caught up with his tongue. "--I mean," The large black tom sat up straight and tall, holding his head high, "Yes. I'll do my best." Shaedsun paused for a moment, before adding, "Yes, you've made some wrong choices in the past, but, we all do. SpringClan is in a difficult time right now, but over time I'm sure--" Hope--"they'll respect you like the leader than you are. And I'll try my hardest to help us get there. Of course, I'm sure you know, It'll take time. But we're getting there." He finished his small speech, his tail twitching nervously behind him. "Thank you," He finished. They fell into silence, Shadedsun not knowing exactly what to say. He waited patiently for Cardinalstar's answer. He felt bad for his leader, put under so much stress. A twinge of pity pricked his heart, but he pushed it away. He didn't think Cardinalstar wanted pity right now, he wanted--needed--help. And Shadedsun was here to help him. '
"No, thank you." Cardinalstar responded, relieved that Shadedsun had accepted the position. Shadedsun was a smart choice, a capable and respected warrior, not only would his choice start to show the Clan he was capable of being their leader, but it would give SpringClan a strong capable deputy and relieve some of the burden off of himself. "You'll be a great deputy and together we will get SpringClan back on its feet. We will have some new warriors and new apprentice's soon, which the Clan greatly needs."
Shadedsun moved to sit beside Cardinalstar and stared at his reflection in the clear pond. His mirrored form wobbled for a bit before he looked up at Cardinalstar. He was silent for a bit, not sure what to say. "Hey, I mean, we're already halfway there." He stared back into the pond for a moment. "Now that that's over with, you wanna go for a hunt or something?" He offered, his paws itching slightly to burn off his energy. He was suppose to be taking this news like a grown adult, but for some reason he felt as excited as a kit about to become an apprentice.
"A hunt sounds nice!" Cardinalstar replied cheerfully. He hadn't been able to inspect much of their territory since they'd been busy rebuilding their camp so he was itching to see the rest of the damage from the rogues. "Want to check out the meadow? There's usually lots of rabbits around this time of the year." he suggested.
Shadedsun nodded and made his way out of the Garden. A rabbit or two would do some good, plus I wanna stretch my legs a bit.” He bounded on ahead. He hadn’t been to the meadow since before the rogues and, to be honest, was quite nervous. He had barley been out of camp, so busy helping rebuild it. He had only travelled a short distance to hunt. He slowed to a walk and fell in beside Cardinalstar.
"I remember learning how to hunt rabbits in a group as an apprentice and then I remember when I finally caught one on my own. Those days were so simple, I miss them sometimes." he mused, thinking back briefly on his days as an apprentice when he had very little to worry about. He was looking forward to getting to stretch his legs and run in the open space the meadow provided, it was one of his favorite places, he quite enjoyed the open space and constant breeze it provided.
