Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Dawn light filtered through the apprentice's den, resting upon Finchpaw's sleeping frame. She blinked open her light green eyes as the golden rays touched her face. She stood in her nest and stretched, letting out a large yawn. Giving herself a quick wash, she hurried out of the den. The camp was already awake and getting started on rebuilding the camp. She wondered where she should start helping out. It seemed like everyone already had a task.
Padding into the middle of camp, she looked around for something to help out with. Every where she turned, cats were carrying supplies and patching dens. Where was she needed the most?
"I left another wad of moss just outside the camp," Cardinalstar mumbled around the giant wad of moss he was carrying. "I want to put extra moss in the nursery to make it extra comfortable and focus on building and reinforcing that den." he added. The nursery was always the most important den in the camp in Cardinalstar's mind but having his own kits in there only strengthened that belief.
Finchpaw dipped her head to Cardinalstar and bounded toward the camp exit. She slipped out into the forest and noticed the pile of moss laying to the side. The brown and white tabby she-cat grabbed a mouthful of moss and padded back into camp. She entered the nursery to see her leader already there placing the moss into nests. She set down the bundle she was carrying. "Where do you want this batch?" Se asked, politely.
Dovekit bounced behind her father, trying to catch his tail.
"Let's put that bunch in the Elder's den, I'm almost done in here and I'll be over to help with the Elder's den in just a few minutes!" He responded to Finchpaw. He flicked his tail back and forth playfully for Dovekit, he glanced over his shoulder at his daughter with a smile. He was almost surprised to see how much she and her littermates had grown. They'd be apprentices soon.
"Of course!" Cardinalstar purred in response to Dovekit, splitting his wad of moss and making a pile for Dovekit. "Then we'll go help Finchpaw in the Elder's den." he added with a smile.
"That is very kind of you. I believe a hunting patrol caught a bird earlier so maybe you can collect the feather's from that one." Cardinalstar purred in response as he finished spreading the moss out in the nursery.
( I finally gave myself an Avatar lol no more being the blank boring empty space lol )
Cardinalstar froze and stared down at Dovekit. He knew this question would come eventually, he just wasn't prepared to answer it today. What was he supposed to say? He sighed and began to help Dovekit spread the moss into another nest. "I love your mother very much." he said thoughtfully, unsure of how he should continue. "But I made a few mistakes that put a lot of cats in a lot of danger and she's angry with me right now and she has a right to be." he explained. It pained him to know that their kits saw how distant they were with each other and he did truly love them all very much but he also didn't know if his relationship with Lightstep was repairable at this point. He hoped it was.
"Would you ever get another mate if you and mama didn't work?" She asked, finally looking up at her father. She loved her parents very much. No matter how mad they were at each other and no matter their decisions. If he father were to ever re-mate, she wouldn't hold that against him and vise versa. She was young but she was old enough to understand how love worked. She didn't quite know what love was but she saw it in other cats.
"Umm... I'm not sure." he answered. "I haven't thought about it because I hope that doesn't happen. Sometimes you'll make your mate mad it will just take a lot of work to fix the relationship. Some may think that the work isn't worth it and just move on but in the end, I think it will be worth the time." he answered. He was surprised by her bold questions but he adored the boldness, it's a trait that would serve her well as she grew up and a trait that he wished he'd picked up sooner.
She listened to her father's words, logging it away in her memory. "I wonder if I will ever find someone for me." She secretly hoped that her relationship wouldn't be like her parent's relationship. She didn't want to fight with her significant other like they did.
"I'm sure you will," he responded lightly, slightly amused with her statement. "but you are young and should focus on growing into the best warrior you can be, before you worry about that." he added with a purr.
Her father was right; she thought. She needed to become a warrior first and a great one like her father. Her clan came first. "Okay! I will be the best warrior Springclan has ever seen!"
