Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Dovekit bounced through the busy camp, trying to find something to do. The clan was busy rebuilding and since she was still a kit, there wasn't much she could do to help. She saw a stick in the middle of camp, "Oh! Someone could get hurt on this!" She picked it up and took it over to the edge of camp where no one would trip over it. Then, the restless kit went to find more work to do.
"Dovekit look what I found!" Shiningkit squealed as she batted a ball of moss towards her sister. She had no idea where the moss had come from but she found it scattered throughout the camp and decided mid clean up that it was time for a game of moss ball.
"Wohoa!" Dovekit giggled, bounding over to her sister. She went to bat the ball of moss away from her but halted with her paw in mid air. "Wait, aren't we suppose to be trying to help?"
"I mean, this was just a random pile of moss I found, so I figured before I disposed of it we could play a game of moss ball!" Shiningkit said with a small shrug.
"Oh yeah?" Shiningkit quipped back, eyes bright with excitement. She crouched down, wiggling with excitement she pounced, landing only inches away from Dovekit and batted the wad of moss towards the middle of camp.
"Hey!" Dovekit laughed, racing Shiningkit toward the ball of moss. Though before she made it to the ball of moss, she ran underneath Smokecloud's paws, causing him to trip. He dropped the herbs he was carrying as he attempted to catch himself. He landed with a thud on the ground while Dovekit rolled from the force of the tom's large paws. Smokecloud climbed to his paws and glared at Dovekit, "You need to stay out of the way, kit!" He hissed, picking up his scattered herbs.
Dovekit jumped to her paws and cowered down in the presence of Smokecloud, "s-sorry...I-I didn't mean to..."
"Go play somewhere else!" he huffed through a mouthful of herbs and stormed away with a lash of his tail.
Shiningkit trotted up to her sister, her eyes wide. "Are you okay?" She asked, nosing Dovekit. "Not sure why he's so grumpy. Maybe he needs a nap." Shiningkit mused sarcastically.
"True but he was living among the rogues which must have been hard on him. We at least had each other, our family, and our leader." Dovekit pointed out. Even if her sister didn't like how Smokecloud treated her, she would rather just brush it off. It was her fault for getting under his paws and this hasn't been easy for anyone, like Shiningkit had pointed out.
"That's true." Shiningkit agreed with a sigh. "It must have been awful living with the rogues. Maybe we should offer to help him?" she suggested, not wanting to abandon their game of moss ball but maybe offering a helping paw would lighten Smokecloud's mood.
She thought for a moment before replying, "I guess we could see if he needed help. Much better than us getting in the way" She was honestly afraid to go and talk to Smokecloud after he had just yelled at her.
"Come on then!" Shiningkit chirped bouncing up to the medicine cat. "Hey, Smokecloud! We're sorry for getting in your way. Dovekit and I were wondering if we could help you with whatever you're doing?" she asked, gazing up at the medicine cat with her wide green eyes. Hoping he wouldn't snap at them again.
Smokecloud turned to look at Shiningkit, his yellow eyes narrowed. "If I give you something to do, will you promise not to mess it up?" His voice was stern but he was giving them a chance to redeem themselves.
"Dovekit and I will do our absolute best!" Shiningkit responded confidently. Although, she had to admit Smokecloud's question made her slightly nervous. The medicine cat wouldn't give them something they couldn't handle or at least she didn't think he would. It didn't seem like him to do that.
"Fine. Take these to my den and place them toward the back. Do not touch anything" he warned, his eyes holding seriousness. He laid two bundles of herbs at the kit's paws. "Then come find me. I may have something else for you to do." Then he spun on his paws and walked away.
Dovekit picked up her bundle of herbs and carried them over to the medicine den. She slipped inside. It was dim and kind of chilly inside. A strong smell of tangy herbs hung in the air and almost made her gag. She set down the bundle where Smokecloud told them to place them. "I could never be a medicine cat."
Shiningkit quickly grabbed her bundle and followed her sister to the medicine cat den. She stared around the den in awe. She'd never been in the medicine den before. But Dovekit was right, neither of them could ever be a medicine cat. "I can't stand the smell of the herbs!" She responded, rubbing her nose with her paw.
"Umm...." Shiningkit mumbled quietly. There were so many herbs in here and she didn't know what they did. What if they made her really sick? But then again her curiosity was getting the better of her. "Which one do you think I should try?" She asked, glancing at Dovekit.
