Though it was newleaf and the other clans were experiencing a final thaw from the leafbare frosts, WinterClan still stood in silent vigil over the other mountain clans, snow-capped and frigid. And standing vigil over WinterClan? Sablecrown's gossamer pelt barely stirred in the breeze, so thick had it grown over the hard leafbare. The silvery fur was covered with snow that she didn't bother to shake off, sapphire eyes gazing out over the territory. She had a frosty expression as she watched some of the trials wandering about the territory, about as effective at hunting as a milk-drunk kitten. Rolling her eyes, she leapt down from her perch and began to make her way through the deep snowdrifts, using speed and agility to get across without sinking too deeply.
She came to a stop a few paces from a pale blue tom marked up and down with black stripes and, in her opinion, a dumb look on his face. "Do you really think you can catch prey like that?" she asked, looking down her nose at the outsider.
Jade had been watching a couple of rabbits in the snow, they had just brought out their newborns. He had no plans to hunt the babies as they would be worthless at this point. The silver she-cat had disturbed his study of the rabbits. Irritated, the tom rolled his shoulders back as he sat up to face Sablecrown. Jade was not impressed with her attitude. His tail swished against the fluffy snow while his whiskers flattened against his face. Who was this high and mighty cat to insult him? She sure wasn't holding any actual power that meant he should give her some sort of respect. So he wasn't going to give her any, she certainly wasn't giving him any. So he let go of any inhibitions he may have had about giving attitude to a solider.
"No, I was planning on making a lot of noise and trudging around." He had already caught a bit of prey that morning and figured he could allow himself a break. It wasn't like he didn't know how to hunt, he had lived for two years without the help of the clan. This was only like his family only larger, and judgemental, and sometimes pretentious.

"Well, you sure have achieved that goal. If you were any louder, I'm pretty sure the mouse-brains down in SummerClan could hear you." Sablecrown sniffed as she looked him over. His expression was tense and it was clear she annoyed him. Good. "Have you ever caught a piece of prey in your life or do you expect all of the true soldiers of WinterClan to hunt for you for the rest of your life?" She knew she was being haughty just for the sake of being haughty, but she would never be okay with letting outsiders in the clan. They were of solid stock, and letting anyone in willy nilly would just pollute their bloodlines.
