Cadet Elyria blinked the sleep from her eyes then arched into a long stretch, fawn-dappled pelt shimmering in the faint light. She had been hunched over a pile of herbs all morning, plucking the delicate leaves from the worthless stem and carefully laying them out to dry. It was easy work, but repetitive and strained her eyes something terrible. She had seen Anguis slip out of the Garden a little bit earlier and assumed he'd gone to Post Echo to fetch some prey. Appreciating the opportunity to both help a group-mate and stretch her legs, Cadet Elyria stood up and prepared to make her way over there too.
She was terrible at directions and so, rather than get herself lost, relied on Anguis' scent to guide her. Following it wasn't difficult - he, like the other guiders - had the scent of herbs clinging to him. So thyme, lavender, and goldenrod were her guides as she strolled down the dark, empty tunnels. It didn't occur to her that there were no other recent scents in the tunnel apart from Anguis' until she caught sight of the widening of the tunnel into a cave where within a scene she wasn't expecting greeted her.

Anguis bent down to lick Snowflight's ear before spreading out the bundle of herbs he had carried in. The tom had hardly heard Cadet Elyria's pawsteps and was completely oblivious to her standing there in shock. He quickly chewed up a few of the leaves and worriedly applied the poultice to Snowflight's wounds, hoping they would help fight away infection. What if he accidentally applied the wrong herbs? What if they didn't work? What if she caught an infection and died? Ah, it was just too scary of a thought for him.

"...Anguis?" Cadet Elyria's voice was hoarse, as though she simply couldn't believe what she was seeing. It wasn't shock at finding a SunClan cat in their tunnels. It wasn't shock that Anguis clearly felt for her if the hesitance of his paws was any indication. No, it was shock at the fact that Anguis, a cat that, as far as she knew never broke the rules, was harboring an outsider. She make quick strides to his side and eyed the she-cat with a critical gaze.
"What's wrong with her?" she asked, her tender voice at odds with the appraising look she was giving them both. After all, her creed dictated that she help anyone injured, regardless of clan or affiliation. She couldn't judge Anguis for doing exactly what she would have done. "How long has she been here?"
It was hard telling how long she had been here at this point. She had definitely made progress since she had first been found by Anguis. While the pain of being betrayed and left behind by her sister was still fresh in her mind. Frostcloud had known that she had fallen behind but she had turned her back on her and left. Why? She must have looked upset because she felt him lick her ear. Her first instinct was to tense up. She was a member of SunClan, bound to follow the will of the Sun God and that alone made her superior to all other clans and groups....didn't it? She wasn't so sure anymore. She had been led to believe that her clan would not leave one of their own to die as well and that had obviously been a lie. Anguis looked nervous though. She supposed keeping her here was a huge risk for him, but he was doing what he could to help her get better and honestly, something about him made her want to take care of him. It was that feeling that had led to them becoming perhaps a bit closer than they should be despite her constant battle with her fading loyalty to SunClan.
"Are you alright?" Her question was overshadowed by the appearance of another cat though. Snowflight instantly tensed, trying her best to scramble to her paws despite the sharp pains that told her that her wounds were not yet healed enough to be moving around so suddenly. She was under the assumption that she would be preparing for a fight. Anguis was a fighter and even if he was, she would not ask him to lift a claw against one of his own. "I thought your friend was the only other one who knew of my presence here." Of course she did not mention Ellison by name since she wasn't sure what was going to happen from here on out. She had just done what she could in a weak attempt to protect Anguis from the possible threat of attack.

As per usual, Anguis jumped so quickly at Cadet Elyria's voice that he was sure his paws left his body. How long had she been there?! Did she notice? What if she ran off and told the others? Oh no, no, no... What was he going to say? "C-cadet Elyria... Uhh... Um... Well, she got hurt--uh--recently and I couldn't just let her die. O-oh, this is Snowflight. Snowflight this is Elyria." His introductions were awkward and tense. Every bone in his body was rattling with anxiety. "Please. You must not tell anyone she is here, Cadet Elyria. Oh, what would happen if Superior Shule found out... Or the Chaman. She would kick me out of the Regime forever." He fretted out loud, his nerves completely frayed at this point.

Cadet Elyria looked between the two cats: one injured but defensive, the other hale but terrified. Though she was, by far, the youngest cat there, something in her eyes spoke of wisdom untold as she gathered her words. "Anguis," she mewed, dipping her head to her elder. "Snowflight, a pleasure to meet you." Elyria knew that Snowflight didn't belong in their tunnels, was an outsider, an attacker. After her last thwarted attempt to deliver herbs to the prisoners from the SunClan attack, she knew that Snowflight's presence wouldn't be tolerated. Still, she hadn't taken a verbal and partially physical beating because she felt like it. She truly believed in the creed she followed, and so there was nothing she could do but offer the other she-cat a soothing smile.
"I'm not here to cause any harm, don't fret." Her voice was soft and conciliatory, trying to make it clear that she wasn't an enemy. "Despite what some may think, I'm not ignorant of the harm and pain SunClan perpetrated. But-" She continued before Snowflight could try and defend herself. "-That doesn't mean you should be left to fester and die in that miserable prison. Just as I would attack another group on Commander Mars' orders, I'm sure you had no choice but to follow your leader's words, am I right? Now, let's see..."
She stepped forwards slowly, intent on inspecting Snowflight's injuries. She was a healer at heart, and though she would never doubt Anguis's abilities, she wanted to ascertain for herself the extent of the damage.
"She had an infected wound and nearly died. Had Anguis not found her, she most likely would have." It was hard to tell where Ellison had come from. He had most likely come to check on the patient he had been helping his friend to hide. "She is on the mend but in no condition to be moving around just yet." It was an inconvenience that someone had found them since that would mean more work to keep this a secret. He had only put forth the effort to help because Anguis seemed to want to help Snowflight and he was one of the few friends the tom had. He couldn't have the rest of the Regime discovering his secret though so perhaps he should credit most of her recovery to Anguis even though the two of them had worked together.
He took one look at Snowflight who was clearly afraid that there was about to be a fight. She looked like she wanted to believe what the cadet was saying, but at the same time there was no telling if this cadet would let the secret slip. "Anguis, how about you get Snowflight settled again before she reopens her wound. Then we can focus on our new friend here."
She had thought she was safe here. If this apprentice had followed them, who was to say others wouldn't follow? She wasn't sure she would be able to protect Anguis in her current condition. As it was, it still hurt to move too much so fighting would be out of the question no matter how tough she tried to look. She had found herself at a loss for words though. How was she to say that her own clan had left her behind in their haste to leave, that her own sister had willingly left her to die? It was a bitter pill to swallow and she still didn't like talking about it. When she did manage to find her words again her voice was quiet and very wary. "I would rather not speak of the battle or anything related to it at the moment." Her voice was soft yet firm. She didn't want to be reminded of what had caused her to be here in the first place.

Cadet Elyria tilted her head at Ellison's intrusion, wondering how Snowflight hadn't been caught with her hiding place so easily found. "I understand," she mewed softly, respecting Snowflight's request. Battle was difficult to talk about when you hadn't been in it - for a cat to have been betrayed by her group and left behind she was sure that Snowflight had ample reason to refrain from the topic. Her ears still burned from Diana's chewing out about helping the prisoners and knew that if she told anyone it would be met with equal vitriol. Keeping that in mind, she sat silently while they sorted themselves out and gave them space to decide on their own.

Anguis' gaze flicked fretfully from one cat to the next. He finally came to his senses when Ellison spoke up. "Uh, oh, here." He meowed awkwardly shifting some feathers around in Snowflight's nest to make it more comfortable before pressing his side against her uninjured side to comfort her. "It'll be okay. Cadet Elyria understands." Honestly, he wasn't sure if he was trying to convince himself or her more. His eyes pleaded with the cadet in front of them one more time before returning to her wounds. Luckily, Anguis and Ellison had been giving her the right kind of herbs so it was looking a lot better than before. He still worried about it getting infected or opening up again. "This one is our main concern." He told Elyria, pointing with his paw to the long gash in her side. He winced inwardly, knowing all to well that Beryl gave her that wound. The short mercenary was feisty and quite a fierce battler. What would she do if she found Snowflight? The thought made him shutter.
"Her wounds are healing well enough though. She would have died had you not found her when you did. Although I doubt Commander Mars would approve of her being on our land though." They had been through this before, but it was still a worry since he knew all to well just how difficult keeping this sort of secret was for Anguis. Most of the time Ellison was there to cover for him, but there were still times where he couldn't be there. Those were the times he worried about and the more people that knew of her presence, the more danger she would be in.
Snowflight relaxed slightly with Anguis's words, but she was still worried. What would happen if she told someone else? She was sure she could defend herself enough to get away even if she risked reopening her wounds at this point, but she wouldn't leave Anguis behind. She slowly sat back down, trying not to wince as she did so. Moving was still pretty difficult. While her infection was healing, it wasn't completely gone yet and her strength wasn't back where it should be. She didn't want to appear weak in front of Elyria though so she had to put on a brave face. "What will you do now?" Her question was simple. If she would report them, they would have to prepare for the worst and she doubted that what would happen would be pleasant. She was hoping the younger she cat would have an ounce of sympathy and leave them be though.
