Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Slaughterfish had adjusted well to SunClan life. It was odd, getting used to a society not based around water so much as her former clan, but she didn't regret anything.
She sat along the edge of the lake, watching the water as silvery fish slipped in and out of her vision. The thought about hunting, but after a few moments threw the entire idea out. Few cats would eat it anyway, she'd be better off catching something else later.
For now though, it was a particularly nice day, and the water was cool and refreshing. So the green eyed feline stepped into the water, felt it whisper up against her fur as creatures swam away from the rippling waves her frame made. Slaughterfish stepped deeper, until eventually, she was floating, then swimming across the clear water. It was a comforting, familiar feeling, though most of the clan preferred the fields and trees to rivers and lakes.
It was a rather odd sight to see as cat floating in the river in SunClan. Most of the clan only went into the shallows, or avoided the water altogather. Her muscles bunched, ready to launch herself towards the lake until Slaughterfish began swimming in the water. They didn't seem to be in any distress, then she realized who it was in the water.
Satisfied that they were not in any danger, she took her time making her way down to the lake, content to simply watch the cat relaxing in the water "I never have been a fan of the water" she chuckled. She could still remember falling into WinterClan's river and almost dying. It had been Mistyveil that had saved her, the only reason the she-cat had been allowed to join WinterClan.

Slaughterfish twirled effortlessly to face the Promised, treading water for a moment before swimming back and forth, almost appearing as a way to show off. "Most cats don't, I've never understood it." She answered honestly. "In the cold months, yeah, I get why that would be bad, but in the heat of greenleaf? There is no better way to stay cool. You're comfortable in the water, and wet fur keeps you that way for hours to come afterward."
"I like the warmth of the sun. It reminds me of the Sun God's power and presence" she watched as the tom before her swam in a rather intricate set of moves. It almost looked like he was flying, a thought that made her rather unsettled. Some said that swimming made them feel free and weightless, but to her it made her feel helpless
"Besides, I would rather keep my feet firmly on the ground and not look like a drowned rat" she sat down allowing her tail to wrap neatly around her paws.
"Still, it's a good skill to have. Even if you hate it, it's still safer to know what to do if you end up in the water than to try and figure it out when you're drowning. What if something happened to the Old Bridge, for example." She wondered briefly, if she could convince the cats of SunClan to let her teach them the basics. At least of treading water, and how to get to shore if washed downriver. Things she'd learned as a kit in WaterClan that this group would really have little, if any, knowledge about.
"I never said that I didn't know how to swim, just that I prefered to be on dry land" she replied calmly. She had been in the water a few times since then, but had never found any joy in the task. Then again her teachers had also been cats that were not very fond of the water.
"However, If I remember correctly, you spent quiet a bit of time in WaterClan, yes?" she paused, as a splash of a fish in the distance caught her attention "Even though I am not fond of the water, I would like to learn more about how the cats in other clans think. I suppose sooner or later I will have to get in the water if I wish to understand WaterClan" she mused glancing up with a little smile
Slaughterfish gave a slight chuckle and a nod at that. True, she hadn't considered that the other feline knew how to swim, and admittedly, was still a bit skeptical, she would say. But treading water wasn't that hard, so perhaps it wasn't that far out of the realm of possibility. "Yes, Foxstar sent us there to be with our father, Dragonguard when we were about a week old." She answered. This was only moons before she'd become the deputy, and then leader, of SunClan. "We had a large family, back in WaterClan before the sickness hit. My grandmother, Phoenixriver, used to lead the clan, and my grandfather's family were all from SummerClan, both his parents former leaders of the clan before he left it for WaterClan. My aunt, Thunderstorm, was mated to the leader Emberstar when the sickness hit. I'm not sure all of who's left there anymore, or how they've fared since. Most of our family fled to SummerClan, and the majority of the rest are dead. I do know my uncle, Chimerahunt is the deputy of WaterClan now, though." The silvery feline had stopped her swimming as she spoke, a sad sort of smile on her face as she recounted her family's powerful history, and the fall of WaterClan what seemed like an eternity ago now. She could still remember Phoenixriver losing one of her last two lives, of her grandfather Lightningswift being beckoned to StarClan along with her cousins, both from Thunderstorm and Chimerahunt's families. They were fractured now, split between SummerClan, WaterClan, SunClan, and her father had even chosen life as a kittypet now.
Shaking her head slightly, she forced a lighter smile on her face. "WaterClan as I knew it when I grew up was always a kind place. We lived in a cave behind a waterfall, and I can still remember playing in the pool outside of camp as a kit. They welcomed outsiders, and always treated each other like family. The clan wasn't ever in too much trouble either, being that we never started wars or other conflicts. Even when I left though, it wasn't the same place anymore. Cats fled left and right due to sickness, caring more about themselves than helping their fellow clanmates. I can't blame them though, after all, I left too. Some of the cats have returned, others haven't. I know Pyremortality decided to stay in DayClan, and my grandmother decided to live out her remaining days in SummerClan." She hadn't gotten word from anyone yet, telling her that she needed to go to SummerClan to see Phoenixriver one last time before she died, but she expected the news by leafbare. The death and destruction of the many of her family had hurt her in a way that couldn't be healed. It was simply a matter of time.
