Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Darkcomplex felt increasingly uncomfortable in SunClan, though the tom would never admit as much. Foxstar had shattered his faith in the clan by making him believe kits were his, altering his memory and Glowstar's in order to do so. Most cats had been avoiding him, which was fine with him. He wasn't sure he wanted to talk to them anyway.
After all, there was no justice to be had in this clan. She had broken no law with her actions. So she would say anyway. And when her word was law, unable to be challenged but by a deity who had made no comments against her leadership, what was he to do?
Duskpaw watched his fathers isolated state, his sharp blue gaze looked the other way. He turned around just enough to shift his view before peering back over at his father. He lifted up his tail making his ears perk up a bit more as he bumped right into his dads side hoping he wasn't so sad that he could actually knock him over. He rubbed his face playfully into him like when he was a kid, "Hey pops. What are you doing out here? Enjoying the warm weather maybe?"
Darkcomplex was his favorite parent, he knew it was wrong to have favorites, but now that he technically had four he did. He didn't know his mom as much as he knew Darkcomplex because his moms clan had been under Foxstar's control, she had been too busy with her people to be there as much as his father had. He couldn't help, but feel bad that half his siblings left his dad for their mom who was cool sure, but wasn't there as much as Darkcomplex had or worse for Renegade Regime with parents they never even knew. He liked the idea of living in Renegade Regime, but for as much as he loved to play pretend and goof off he had spent less time being someone else and more time being Duskpaw, Darkcomplex's son because he felt it was the person he needed to be right now.
If there was one person he'd never be sad to see, it was his son. Maybe they weren't biologically related like he'd been misled to believe, but Duskpaw would always be his child, no matter what anyone tried to tell him. The warrior leaned into the young tom's touch, tail instinctively brushing itself along his spine. "Just going for a walk. How about you? Who do I have the pleasure of meeting today?" He knew the apprentice liked to put on different personas, and though some cats found it odd, and it had taken a moment to adjust to, Darkcomplex had always encouraged him to be creative and have fun. If that meant he wanted to pretend to be different cats day to day, it was fine with him. For what it was worth though, he thought Duskpaw was plenty great on his own, and didn't need to rely on making up false personalities to be interesting.
"Just Duskpaw today," Duskpaw said with a shy small smile like he hadn't talked to his father in a while and part of that was true, not as Duskpaw anyways, "I mean, I was tempted to be Snowbellkit who tragically died when she was five moons old right before her apprenticeship who haunts the clan. But. I think I'll just be Duskpaw today."
He sat down next to his father, "No one else is here dad."
Duskpaw stayed leaning into his fathers side, "So. Why are we here?"
"I like Duskpaw." Darkcomplex answered with a slight smile. "I'd even dare to say he's my favorite." It was true enough. He loved when his son chose to be himself, when he seemed to not like how he was very much.
His son's question made him fall silent however, and he listened to ensure that no one was around for a moment before really considering the question. "I've been asking myself that, especially since the battle." Foxstar had sent the clan after the Regime, knowing his kits were there, and not caring if they were caught in the crossfire. It really highlighted to him just how much the Priestess cared only for herself. He respected the Sun God. And if Foxstar weren't part of the clan, there would be no problem at all.
But she was their leader, and that made all the difference.
Duskpaw looked at his father calmly mulling over what he said before speaking, "Sometimes I call SunClan WhisperClan. The way everyone wants to speak, but they instead look around and they whisper. I don't want to have to whisper that I love my siblings even if they abandoned SunClan. In my heart I know the Sun God would forgive them for destinies that Foxstar set up to fail."
He realized this wasn't just the most serious and honest he's ever been with his father, but the most serious he'd ever been his entire life, "I don't pretend to understand your relationship with mom, but. I think she loves you and wouldn't want you to be unhappy here. It's. It's okay to be mad at Foxstar and you should be, maybe you're not ready to leave, but like can we take one vacation to DayClan and if things are great you'll stay? And if they're not then you can just go back, no one would question it cause you're just seeing mom."
In truth, Duskpaw didn't even realize he was brave enough to say it. He stayed primarily in SunClan, but had gone enough to DayClan to know that this wasn't right. Still he was a SunClan cat and he knew cats were typically punished if cats were heard saying the things he said enough times. At the same time, he knew if his father didn't stick up for himself that he would and he would have to face whatever came his way from that action. He needed his dad to be safe so he could too.

Darkcomplex kept quiet during the first part of Duskpaw's comment. He wasn't so sure the Sun God was that forgiving. The deity valued obedience and worship, and everyone else had thrown that away. That alone was more than enough for him to no longer protect them, even if he wasn't necessarily offended.
That second part though, made his chest hurt. He loved Glowstar, perhaps more than he liked to admit, and after seeing her interact with Deal, doubted she felt the same. He understood she cared for him, but even if she did love him, as his son said, the tom felt uncertain that it was the same sort of love he held in his heart. Not that it stopped that prickle of hope, of course. As for Duskpaw's idea... the long haired tom found himself nodding slightly. "I think I would like that. This place is my home. However, rather than unite the cats under the Sun, all Foxstar has done is anger and drive away her very own clanmates. Some time away would be good, for both of us, to figure out where we truly belong." He agreed softly.
If Littlebird were Priestess, he would have been far more hesitant to leave. She understood his plight, understood Foxstar's actions, and the futility of resistance. If Foxstar had simply been killed in the battle, stripped of all her remaining lives, they could have built themselves up here. As it was, this was perhaps their only chance to leave, without the fox-hearted leader being only one step behind.
