He left the body at the edge of the church, crumpled form propped up against the wall. Bjorn's silhouette could have been that of a sleeping guard; in the dark, you could not see the blood welling in the blood of his throat. He had fought, but it had not been enough. It only took one mistake.
Stalking along the interior wall with his cold gaze pinning down his mate, he was tempted to end it all. She was defenseless, asleep or distracted -- it was difficult to tell in the low light, even the collapsed roof of the church let in little light with the moon only a thin claw above -- and it would be pathetically ease to slit her throat. The kits wouldn't put up any fight, he doubted anyone here would. As he came to a halt about her, he considered it; then, with a little growl of frustration, he let her live. He prodded her hard with a paw and rumbled, "forget something?"
Vigilante loomed over Voracity, his baleful golden gaze skimming her before he arched a brow, unimpressed. Dark brown tabby shoulders and white fur ruffled, dried blood clung to his chest and scattered over his harsh frame where the unlucky hunter had managed to land hits on him, none grievous enough to bother the rogue unless they grew infected. He was significantly older than he'd last met, but the tom was still built like a mountain, hard and unyielding.

Voracity felt something push her suddenly and her icy eyes flew open with fury. She rose from where she curled next to the sleeping sucklings and stood nose to nose with Vigilante. Shock and confusion rolled off her body and she fought hard to replace it with the anger lapping inside her belly. "What are you doing here, shrew-face." She hissed, tail lashing. Her lips were drawn back into a snarl. It was one that would be familiar to the grand tom seeing that he was given this look often in the past. A feeling a irritation mingled with the others as her heart began to thump the way it did any time the pesky tom was around.
"Is that any way to greet me? To think I brought a gift for your hoard and this is how you respond." He said the word hoard low and slow, cold as the winter winds, disdainful. The fury in her eyes meant nothing to him; she could have met him with an army and his chilled expression would be as implacably unimpressed as ever. He knew her, and he knew he was more than her - he would never fear her. Try me, he taunted with a slight incline of his head, the minute distance between them charged and tensed.
Then he turned, breaking eye contact with a dismissive flick of his ear, and led the way out of the church. She would follow; she would always follow him.

"Where do you think you're going?" She snapped as he began to turn away. "If you think I will follow you, you are wrong." Her voice was sharp and filled with hatred, but she felt the annoying tug at her paws that pushed her to follow. No, she would stand right there. Voracity straightened even more, lifting her chin up a bit to look more confident in her decision. "And I don't want your gifts."
Vigilante did not say a word. He did not even look behind him as he slipped through the church and out the entrance into the cool night air. She could be as fiery as ever, but in the end his confidence was unshaken: her own curiosity would best her and bring her back to him. He had not come all this way to be ignored, and he had never brought her a gift before; that was enough to assure him she would come with time. Let her hiss until she was satisfied she had made her point; then she would come to him.
