Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
She knew no other life than that which she had been given; forever running, forever hiding, forever getting by on scraps. Her claws were dull, her pelt was muddied, often her vision swam. Yet she was happy, for what was there to miss when you knew no other way? She knew no mother, no sisters or brothers.. but she did know her father. A valiant and wonderful tom that cared for her more than anyone else; who was always there except for when he couldn't be. She knew he had things to do; missions to oversee, plans to undertake and mold. She knew he was a successful... well, whatever he was. But whatever he was, she knew that he was the best. He had to be, for there were times when he was away much longer than usual.
Sitting in her usual spot, awaiting his return, her little tail flicked and she smiled, her paws shifting in excitement. It had been three days since she had seen him; in the meantime she'd attempted to practice her hunting skills. She was getting better. She had the little mouse by the tail, at least until it riggled and in her surprise she let go. She flushed. Maybe she'd leave that part out. She was getting so much better though! She couldn't wait to show him her progress. Maybe one day she'd actually be able to catch something. Then he won't give me that look anymore. Oh yes. That shielded look, the one that made her think, deep down, that she had made a terrible mistake. He never acted, yet she still felt as if she needed to backpedal and apologize.
I can do it this time. We can do it this time, Karma. Just... Take a deep breath. She nodded her head in determination, eyes narrowing. We can do it.

He had been surprisingly busy lately. Perhaps, that was to be expected, now that his family had grown again. He was still deeply suspicious of the patronage of his most recent litter. In fact, he was almost convinced they were Hansel's. However, only Morgana knew his suspicion, and he treated the litter like he treated Ravenna. After all, Altaire was in a period of time where it was important for him to increase his authority and influence, and raising children seemed to be a way to solve the goal. And, if they werne't actually his, if there was a moment where they became less useful, he wouldn't feel obligated to care for them.
The Egyptian Mau let his thoughts trail as he slowed to reach the spot of another child that he had adopted as his own. Well, sort of. He had yet to take her into the group exactly, but he took care of her. Eventually, when she was ready, he would bring her to camp. That was his working plan, at least. He blinked. One day, the League would be tired of him bringing in strangers, stragglers, but Altaire had always been a tom who thrived with a band of misfits that owed only him loyalty.
He let out a purr when he saw her, closing the gap. He dropped the rabbit that hung in his jaws, before smiling widely. "Greetings, munchkin," he purred with a grin, reaching to lick her head. "I apologize that it took me so long to come back. Are you alright?"

Blinking, she felt her earlier worry dissolve with the warm grin on his face and the soft look in his eyes, happiness flooding her heart. He’s in a good mood today! Yes! She hopped up, nuzzling him affectionately in return. “That’s okay! You’re here now, that’s all that matters!” She twirled around once, though stopped at the line of question. What can you see that I can’t, a voice inside her whispered. She smiled wide. “Yeah, I’m good! Why?” She tilted her head. “Did something happen?” Why don’t you come to see me more? Where do you go? Can I come with you one day? She bit her tongue.

"I was just checking," he assured her. He pretty much had known the answer before she said it; the Primal Instinct scent was weak, which meant he was still the only one that came this way.
He looked down at the kitten. There was so much that she didn't know. He would teach her it all one day, slowly and then all at once, like falling asleep. She was too young for it, though, right now. She wouldn't survive his manner of tough love. This wasn't, though, to say that he was protective over her. The only thing that he was protective over was his own status; nothing else impacted him hardly at all. Still, she wouldn't know that. He was a master actor, after all.
"You know how I told you I come from a big group of cats? And that I'm one of the felines that is in charge?" He tipped his head slightly. "A position has opened up for me to advance to second in command. I've had to put more hours into the job because of it. It should settle down soon, though."

She blinked and nodded slowly, glancing down at her paws. Sometimes she forgot that he had other priorities; forgot that it wasn't just the two of them against the world. "That's... good though, right?" She lifted her head, blinking up at him. A small smile slowly grew upon her face. "Well, if it's too hard for you to come see me, maybe I could come see you!" Her little tail swayed in excitement, though she slowed. Like hide and seek, except you're not allowed to end the game. A touch of loneliness touched her heart like ice.
