Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Woodkit cast his emerald eyes down to his rocks. Shimmering, cold little things, halfway sorted into neat piles ordered by size and colour. He very much enjoyed collecting and sorting his stones, but he wanted to start on something else. Like leaves. Or feathers. Or flowers. But the leaves and flowers would wilt until they were no more, just the dead remains of beauty. He brushed those thoughts off his mind. He had to concentrate on his work. Woodkit has placed his stones just beside the nursery in a spot that somewhat hid them but was easy to get too. He wondered what kind of rocks and things were outside the confines of WinterClan camp. He’d never know for moons, not until he could travel the territory as an apprentice. Woodkit had finished sorting his rocks. His snowy little paws took him near the edge of camp, near the exit, as if telling him to go. But he couldn’t. That would be huge-bad. He would be in big trouble. So, instead, he sat and ran his tongue through his kit-fluffy fur, his mind wandering to the realms of future. Who would be his mentor? Would he even become an apprentice? Was he good enough? What would his warrior name be? But the most prominent thought was: what is out there? He had stopped grooming a bit before and didn’t realize he was staring blankly ahead into the area beyond the entrance, his eyes unblinking and unfocused, lost in his own forest of thoughts.
Lavender. (Sorry, didn’t know what to call this one. Got any suggestions?)
Jade strode into camp, more comfortable now that he had been here a while. While he was still a trial he no longer felt that he wasn't allowed in camp during the day. Rather bored with his only job being to hunt, he had started to make a game of it. Today's goal had been only different finches. It had actually worked out for the most part with five different birds. Carrying all of them was a whole other situation which he solved by grabbing their feet. As he stopped at the prey pile he wondered if he had caught too much, considering others would also bring prey back as well. Rethinking his decision he changed courses to the nursery. The small finches would be great for kits as they may not feed a full-grown warrior or a growing apprentice. Jade laid down next to the den and began to pluck feathers off of the birds. While an adult would eat the whole thing, a kit just starting on prey might not deal well with feathers. The plucked feathers could then be used in bedding or as toys.
He lifted up his head as he saw a little brown kit slowly creeping towards the exit. He could help but grin, while Jade had learned that kits weren't allowed outside but that rules didn't stop them. Getting up he shook out his grey tabby pelt, dislodging the occasional feather that clung to it. He easily towered over the kit and so crouched down. "Looking for trouble?"
Woodkit turned his head to be met with a tom he'd never seen before. "No, no. I was just looking from right here, I wasn't planning on heading out, promise." Woodkit cast his head back towards the exit. "Just wondering what was out there, see I like to collect things! But the only things in camp are rocks, sticks, and the occasional feather. But the feathers are used for nests so I can't collect them for long." Hey wrapped his tail around his paws. "I'm Woodkit, by the way, who are you? I haven't seen you before."
"I'm Jade, a new trial to WinterClan." He sat back to listen to the kit. Jade had quickly learned that kits themselves could be a well of knowledge and most had no filter. Plus they really did not care that he wasn't clan born. "I grew up mostly in the city or around it. I came here after twolegs took my family." Kits and sometimes the apprentices got really interested in the fact that he wasn't forest-born. Jade had grown up in a different life, now he was changing his lifestyle. It wasn't going terrible as he somehow had managed to avoid trouble, he was breaking his own record for not getting in trouble.
Curiosity piqued, Woodkit moved closer to Jade. “The city?” He tilted his head. He had never heard of the city before. “Where’s that? What’s it like?” Woodkit wondered if the city was part of the territory and couldn’t wait to become an apprentice to explore it. “Why did you come here?” He wondered why Jade had left the city to begin with, was it dangerous there?
"Well I only lived in the city in the winter as it was easier to find food, otherwise I lived in the forest just next to it. The city that I lived in was maybe a weeks worth of travel from here. But I do think there is one that is closer, though it's smaller." Jade paused to think over his youth. He undoubtedly had fun, but he did have some struggles that were not a concern for forest cats. Twolegs, cars, trash, and dogs all existed in vast amounts. Though there was an abundance of food that meant they never had to starve, it allowed him to be able to build himself up. "It was nice because it was easier to find food when the prey hides in winter. Though twolegs either tried to kill us or kidnapped us. It was a lot of fun there were a thousand different things for me to get into when I was young."
"I ended up leaving because my family was taken away this previous winter. I didn't think I could live alone, so I came here because I had heard of the clans. I chose WinterClan because I felt like I fit in here, I like to think I even look a bit like you guys." It still was a bit upsetting that he had lost his family, though he was hoping he could build a new one here. Jade just had to make it through the convict phase. So far it was looking like he was going to make it.
“The city sounds scary! I...I hope your family is okay. Are you going to try and find them?” He didn’t want to go to the city anymore. What if he was taken or killed by twolegs? He’d never see his family again, or become a warrior, or see the rest of the world.
"I did try, but I couldn't get to them. The twolegs took them into a place filled with other cats and dogs." Jade hoped they were doing well where ever they were at. Supposively the Kittypets said that place wasn't bad, but then again their lives didn't look that great. They ate dry, pebble-like food and had one small stinky box to use for a bathroom. It wasn't much of a life in his opinion.
“I’m sorry, I hope they’re okay.” The mention of dogs sent a shiver down his spine, even if he had never seen them before. “Dogs sound scary, I never want to see one!”
