Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Eaglekit sat in her nest, staring out the entrance of the nursery, summoning up the courage to finally leave the den. With one deep breath she bounced out of her nest and quickly out into the open. She blinked rapidly, suddenly blinded by the brightness of the outside world. Once she could finally see she sat by the nursery entrance, tail neatly wrapped around her, watching as the warriors moved about and carried out their duties for the day.
Lightningkit woke up in time from a nap to see Eaglekit exit the nursery. The small kit quickly decided to join her sister outside and popped out of the den just next to her. "Whatcha doing?" she asked.
"Watching the warriors!" Eaglekit responded, sitting up a little taller, her gaze traveling over another warrior who was dropping prey onto the fresh kill pile. "I'm hoping to learn something from watching them." She added.
"Only watching them is no fun." Lightningkit said. She debated for a minute about what to do before making up her mind and bounding up the next warrior that made an appearance. The one she chose was a large, heavily built dark ginger tom with streaks of white running along his sides. The tom was Foxrun, and was the brother of the two kit's father, Emberburn, and although the two didn't know it he was there uncle. "Hi there." Lightningkit chirped, staring up at the much larger tom.
Foxrun looked down at the small she-cat and smiled warmly when he also saw Eaglekit near the nursery. "Hello."
Before Eaglekit could say that the warriors were busy and probably didn't want to be bothered by curious kits Lightningkit bounced up to a large ginger warrior. He seemed friendly enough to Lightningkit so Eaglekit took her chance and joined her sister. "What's it like to be a warrior and when can I explore the territory?" Eaglekit blurted out excitedly. She knew kits weren't allowed out of camp until they were apprenticed but a small part of her hoped she didn't have to wait six moons to finally be able to leave the safety of the camp.
(oops. Don't mind me. I have issues keeping track of who's who for some reason)
"Being a warrior is a lot work. Sometimes it's fun but it's more about hard work than being able to do whatever you want whenever you want." Foxrun said. He remember thinking the exact same things that he was saying as a kit about what it must be like being a warrior. Having total freedom to do whatever you wanted with no parents or mentor to boss you around. And while it was true warriors had a little more freedom they still had to listen to the deputy and leader and had more duties to the clan that had to be fulfilled before they could have some time to themselves.
"When you're a little older and with your parents' permission I might be able to take you out but that's up to Leopardblaze and Silvershine.
"You're still a little young to be out wandering around. But maybe in a week or two." Foxrun said. "Though maybe if you ask one of your parents they might approve you going out."
"Or..... we could just go out with you?" she prompted, staring up at Foxrun. He was their kin... she was sure their parents wouldn't mind it, especially if it was just for a short while and even if they did care, Eaglekit didn't, she just wanted to explore.
Foxrun looked around camp hoping he’d spot either his cousin or his mate so that the kits could actually ask one of their parents. He really didn’t want make the two mad.
Leopardblaze had been busy in conversation with another warrior when he caught Eaglekit and Lightningkit speaking with Foxrun. He excused himself from his conversation and walked over to his cousin and his kits. "They aren't causing trouble are they?" he asked Foxrun, glancing down at Eaglekit and Lightningkit.
___
"No!" Eaglekit responded, slightly offended by the fact that her father immediately thought they were causing trouble.
Foxrun was relieved when Leopardblaze came over and asked about the kits. "No they're not causing trouble. Just asking if they can come of camp. I told them I couldn't take them without either your's or Silvershine's permission." the tom explained to his cousin.
Leopardblaze glanced thoughtfully down at the kits and then back up at Foxrun. "If you want to take them out I don't mind. I can tag along if you want, an extra set of eyes on them might not hurt." He replied.
"If you would come as well I'd feel better." Foxrun said, relieved that the tom had agreed. He had a feeling that the kits would've gone without anybody to look out for them if they kept being refused before too long. He figured letting them go out with permission and two warriors to watch over them would help relieve some of their curiosity and maybe curtail more expeditions.
"Of course!" Lightningkit said with glee, bouncing around her father's paws in excitement.
Foxrun watched the kit with amusement as she couldn't hold still in one place before managing to trip over her own paws and tumble headlong into Eaglekit.
"Oof!" Eaglekit huffed as Lightningkit tumbled into her. She scrambled to her paws and playfully batted Lightningkit over her ears. "Let's go!" she squeaked.
Leopardblaze purred in amusement and began walking slowly towards the camp entrance, keeping his pace slow so the kits could keep up.
“Hey!” Lightningkit yelped, more in annoyance than anything, when Eaglekit batted at her ears. She shot after her sister and pounced on her from behind when started making her way behind their dad.
“We won’t take you out of camp if you don’t behave.” Foxrun warned the two she-kits.
Leopardblaze cast a warning look at the two kits but at the same time he knew they'd eventually grow up and the playful kit moments would be few and far between and he honestly enjoyed seeing them play and enjoy their kithood, while it lasted.
"Oops! Sorry!" Eaglekit squeaked, immediately ceasing all playful activity. Once they stepped out of camp she glanced around, taking in the sights and smells of the forest. "This is so cool!" She said, glancing at Lightningkit.
